Came on to see what everyone thought of the first episode tonight but can’t find a thread. Where are my people?

Since when did they have ad breaks on Sky Witness?! Not happy about that. But didn't think first episode was that bad. Obviously it's no longer as good as it was, but I'll keep on watching as long as they keep showing it!

JacquelineCarlyle · 20/11/2021 21:46

@ToughTittyWhompus

I’m very bored of it now, I don’t actually know why I keep watching.

Amelia has lost all her spark, as has Bailey. Jo I could only tolerate when Karev was around (I still refuse to watch his leaving episode, what a shit show). Teddy has always irritated me, Owen I’ve never liked. Meredith is a bore and is always almost dying.

As for Levi and the other interns, WTF? There hasn’t been a decent batch of interns since Lexi Grey.

I don’t mind the stuff about race inequality in medicine, it’s very real, has been brought more to light by Covid and it’s relevant to show as it’s a medical drama.

The trans stuff? eye roll Not relevant.

I completely agree with this. Plus the constant need to watch station 19 to fully explain what's gone on in GA is irritating as I'm not a massive fan of S19 (although strangely it's growing on me now and sometimes I enjoy it more than GA!)
TrashyPanda · 20/11/2021 23:51

So far, so very dire.

So, they have given up on Meredith and Irish doctor, just like they gave up on Meredith and Riggs (who was actually an interesting character, unlike Irish Doc). And now they have lined her up with another Doc. Yawn. Plus she is now the best medical researcher ever and is go8ng to cure Parkinson’s.

Magpies husband is boring. He was only brought in cos the writers finally realised there was zero chemistry between Avery and Maggie. He had to leave to escape her clutches. Maggie is still incredibly annoying and unlikeable.

Why had Scout regressed to a newborn in the scene where Link was putting him to bed? One minute we are told he’s 26inches tall, then he goes and shrinks!

I don’t mind Helm, but Schmidt is just awful. Actually, he and Maggie would be a good match, if only he wasn’t gay. He behaves as if he is fresh out of high school.

And as for the “will Meredith leave?” storyline - we all know that’s not going to happen.

CruellaDeVilla · 22/11/2021 06:09

I was dreading watching after reading this thread but it’s not as bad as I expected!

The black hole that is GS day care makes me laugh

Agree that the woke ness is irritating though, massive eye roll at Leo a c yeah, he’s got more problems than an Elsa dress

ToughTittyWhompus · 22/11/2021 10:28

Amelia could have been the new Yang, but instead they gave her a brain tumour that magically solved most of her issues and made her a mother.

Why are there NO women in the show that don’t want children?

CallieTorres · 24/11/2021 21:07

I keep forgetting to watch it.... its kind of dull

Fadingout · 25/11/2021 09:17

Episode two didn’t really inspire either. The interns are dreadful. Amelia and Link situation is so off. I’m still hoping it might get a bit better but I’m not convinced. Time for Grey to retire.

frugalkitty · 25/11/2021 20:25

I'm in two minds about watching this. I'm rewatching (again!) with my daughter S she's not watched it all. Mark has just died and I cried (again). The early seasons were so good. I hate Owen more each time I watch, he's a baby and a bully and they shouldn't have wasted Cristina on him. Derek isn't very nice either, he's awful to Meredith most of the time.

rosegoldwatcher · 26/11/2021 09:59

I used to adore this show.

Watched the first two episodes of S17 and have cancelled the series link so won't be watching any more episodes.

What finally did it for me was Amelia's speech to Meredith about the non-binary research doctor, pointedly using the pronoun THEY when using their name would have been more natural. So - wokeness for the sake of it.

Fadingout · 26/11/2021 18:39

I’ve watched it over so many times. But introduced my dd to it yesterday and it was a real stark contrast between the old episodes and the new stuff they’re showing. So not as good now.

vjg13 · 26/11/2021 21:14

Can anyone remind me about Meredith's new love interest, was he in the last series and how did they meet? TIA

Crappykitchen · 27/11/2021 12:50

It's definitely no where near as good as it used to be, so nice to have Addison back though!

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 28/11/2021 00:38

vjg he was in it a few serieses ago - as far as I remember he was a surgeon who’d come to Grey Sloan to do an
Operation but he’d just had a transplant himself and Meredith ended up treating him? Or something. There was some mild flirtation and then he saw her in Boston or wherever it is she is in the new series.

CallieTorres · 28/11/2021 07:53

Nick Marshis a world-classtransplant surgeon who collapsed while at Grey Sloan Memorial retrieving a liver.

History

Five weeks after having a kidney transplant, Nick came to Grey Sloan to retrieve a liver for a long-time patient of his. After the surgery, he collapsed in a hallway. Meredith did an exam and ran some labs and chatted with Nick while they waited for the results to come back. His labs were inconclusive, so Meredith did another ultrasound, which showed a clot in his renal vein cutting off blood flow to his new kidney. She rushed him into surgery, where she was able to remove the clot and save his kidney.

After his sister, Erica, bailed, he took in his niece, Charlotte, and raised her as his own. She was sixteen at the time of his hospitalization.

His mother died when he was fifteen of heart failure while waiting for a heart transplant. That inspired him to become a transplant surgeon.

Aderyn21 · 28/11/2021 08:33

Watched this week and was bored. They are so obviously setting Amelia up for a relationship with the non binary character - yawn! 3 weeks ago she was in love with Link. This show is a travesty of what it used to be.

vjg13 · 28/11/2021 08:35

Thanks for the recap, I think I have a vague recollection now. 🙂

I was wondering when they would remember that they found her brain tumor whilst she was having some fun in the mri machine thinking about carina.

Having made teddy bisexual out of nowhere they are clearly heading for a " queer relationship " story line Hmm

Also is it just me or in trying to protray all the race issues they are still kinda being racist because all the white drs are apparently too special to go use Google they have to have ot spoon fed to them by hunting down the nearest back dr and make it their problem having to explain ot to them?

What did everyone make of this week’s?

Whatwouldscullydo · 04/12/2021 09:11

Was better. But still dull. The mistakes in the OR never used to be glossed over so much. The chance fir the intern to shine Was lost. And that was one if the ways in which u learnt to like/hate the character.

Think Christina operating on Henry. You saw different sides to them.

I'm getting sick of the portrayal of stupid women though. As of a woman who had already decided to have a baby would have factored in how alone etc she would be. Seems so forced to induce the panic at the birth when they had already stated the long hard thinking amd discussions they had had.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 04/12/2021 09:26

Liked Addison being back and felt shebwas guiding Amelia back to Linc. Have no recollection of Meredith's man, I actually thought he was supposed to be Riggs Confused Agree with so much of the above. Meredith is glossy, smiley, sashaying from scene to scene in her beige clothes. I am hoping for Jo and Irish doc and no more Maggie, so annoying. It's a pity, I'm on Season 4 having rewatched in the last few months, so different. I don't and won't watch S19.

Whatwouldscullydo · 04/12/2021 09:37

I was surprised at amelias advice tbh

Amelia has come such a long way. This is one of the rare times she was actually asked to articulate everything rather than just going off the rails or not talking to anyone. Her feelings and thoughts made sense.

Amd it doesn't matter if up to that point link had been a good guy. ( personally I think he is and the wedding proposal was awful script writing and his character would NEVER have done it) the fact is he was manipulative with the proposal. And he has taken no responsibility fir that. He still doesn't see the problem and amelia cant take him back because he won't recognise the behaviour

Whatwouldscullydo · 04/12/2021 09:40

Addisons advice

CallieTorres · 04/12/2021 10:31

What did everyone make of this week’s?
Christ I hadn't even bothered to check for one this week....

I used to be biting at the bit to watch it
