Anyone complaining about two gay men dancing together or getting emotional about it need to take a long hard look at their straight privilege. Johannes has a double whammy of being black & gay. Have a little think about how difficult his life has been. If he wants to celebrate his success & the acceptance he is finally feeling, you go wild Johannes. John talks openly about how hard his journey to acceptance has been up until pretty recently. How scared he was to say yes to a same sex coupling on Strictly fearing significant trolling on the internet and his mental health.

Equally, criticising Rose for pushing ‘being deaf’ also need to take a look at their privilege. Strictly have done a great job at disability awareness and I can’t see how Rose is doing any differently to say Will Bailey or Lauren Steadman. They had physical disabilities so they had different limitations but what Rose is doing is inspirational!

Strictly is a light entertainment show around dancing. It’s not been a serious dance competition for a long time, if ever. It’s a TV show. People need to really get over the outrage about voting and celeb back stories. It’s an entertainment show! Go watch some professionals if you are that bothered 😂

Yes, the spoiler is early tonight but we don’t want it on the threads.

Tilly was fine but forgettable
AJ’s sleeves distracted from her arms and I didn’t love the choreography despite massively warming to them in recent weeks. Way undermarked though.
Thought Rhys fantastic despite wobbly lift late on. Not the first time he has outdanced Nancy.
Johannes really needs to learn to take it down just a notch to let his partner shine instead of being eclipsed.
I do love Sara but I can see she’s only got a week or so left in her.
Actually really enjoyed Tom for the first time this series. I do love the song and really liked the styling of the dance.
Silent part of Rose’s dance and her speech to Giovanni did me in. Reminded me of Will’s very powerful couple’s choice from a previous year.
Hate Dan. Please leave. Please.

@FuzzyPuffling

Rose is Deaf, not deaf.
What does that mean?
EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/11/2021 22:22

Its not up yet AFAIK

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/11/2021 22:25

For me, Rose being deaf is also integral to her experience as a dancer/contestant in a way that, say, Greg nursing his dying sister just wasn’t. So I take no issue with it being such a prominent feature of her couple’s choice. What she has achieved is phenomenal, it would be were she not deaf to be fair, she’s a beautiful dancer (and I think she’d be great fun on a night out)

GrouchyKiwi · 13/11/2021 22:26

Have rewatched a couple of dances since DH missed them.

Even more annoyed at how undermarked AJ was. A 6! Nonsense.

Rhys was better on second viewing, though I stand by my 9s. All of the lifts were clunky.

Cried at Rose and Gio again. Beautiful. And I think one of the reasons why it was so beautiful was because of how their bodies work together. Rose said a few weeks ago that as well as vibrations she feels the way Gio's body moves to help her know what she has to do, and being that close and in-sync means that their dances look so together in a way that others' don't.

cheeseisthebest · 13/11/2021 22:34

I agree about Rhys. He stumbled when he did the lift. It wasn't a 40 dance.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 13/11/2021 22:45

Today 22:07 EvilRingahBitch
But we have no idea about AJ. She could have got literally zero votes so far in this competition. Fingers crossed.

Surely that couldn’t be the case considering the number of people on this thread, myself included, who regularly say they’ve voted for AJ?

covetingthepreciousthings · 13/11/2021 22:47

Does anyone know the reasoning behind the BBC never releasing the voting figures?

I've just rewatched AJ and Kai on YouTube and I think they were very under marked. I didn't take to the dance when I first saw it and I think that's because the lighting effects made it really hard to see it. It was nowhere near perfect but it wasn't an under 30 dance either.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/11/2021 22:57

That's something of an overeaction isnt it?
d/Deaf is by no means a new thing you know, its decades old.

I guess they feel it may put people off taking part. It must be bad enough if you end up in the dance off when you aren't in the bottom 2 or 3 of the judges scores but to have it confirmed in black and white that you only got 11 votes and that means your immediate family didn't even give all all of their free votes.
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/11/2021 23:05

I’ve no interest in actual voting numbers myself, as a viewer.

Me either - I trust that we are not being lied to about who is in the bottom two so it doesn't matter to me if it's by a hundred votes, a thousand or a million.
Alcemeg · 13/11/2021 23:48

@Faevern

Johannes got carried away with his arse tonight and made John look stiff.
Oo-er
Bobbybobbins · 14/11/2021 00:22

@callmeadoctor

Well, no.

JacquelineCarlyle · 14/11/2021 00:32

I've just finished watching it - thought Rhys, Dan and Sara were all very good. AJ was also great and very under marked.

Johannes totally showed John up - think it's because they're so physically similar that it's completely obvious that John is nowhere near as good as Johannes.

Rose and Gio were absolutely sublime - can't believe Craig didn't give them a 10.

I also thought Tom and Tilly were good but think they should be in the dance off. Don't really care who leaves out of them (or even Sara but would like Dan to stay in).

Platax · 14/11/2021 01:42

Does anyone ever actually read the reports on here of how people voted?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/11/2021 02:07

I think at this stage it might be kinder to lose Dan or Sara (much as I like her) as both should have party latins next week and might, erm, struggle.

I'm not sure that's true actually. The only party Latin Sara has left is salsa, and they can drop two out of the fifteen so she might not do it. I'd guess one of them will probably have a Charleston. Sara might even get a waltz or AS, because she hasn't done slow ballroom for ages. I was quite surprised when I looked at what they had left!

Sara's pool: Waltz, Viennese, Paso, Jive, Salsa, Am Smooth, Charleston

Dan's pool: Waltz, Tango, Samba, Rumba, Salsa, Argentine Tango, Charleston

Exactly. What a stupid comment from that poster.
