Absolutely loved it!

My list of big house jobs includes 'declutter' in every room so I was hoping to put off doing it be inspired. Loved Stacey Solomon though would have liked more from Ivan on the cleaning.

Dilly not Dolly!

They were lovely!

i was amazed that they found £2000 - some in uncashed cheques. Wonder what they can do with those

I wonder if they’d paid the checks in on the banking app but then kept the cheques? I found an envelope of cheques from when I first used the app because I’d kept them not trusting the app and then forgotten to dispose of them once all the money was in my account

2 grand in the house. Fuck me.

I have always said that having one half of a couple with hoarding tendencies or overly sentimental about everyday objects is not an issue. But most of these families have TWO adults who are as bad as each other.

Stacey is so lovely about it though, while sorting them out and making a real difference.

I always laugh at how one of them is completely blaming the other and then in the warehouse they’re the one trying to hang on to stuff. That would totally be me 🤣 I would say without a doubt that dp is a bigger hoarder than I am but if I’m honest I also have my hoarding areas and would fight to keep all my mugs or glasses! Whereas he doesn’t care what he drinks from and could easily cull them down.
His tool collection however easily rivals the one on last night’s episode.

First episode I've seen. Bloody hell.
Stacey very human and compassionate.

But the wife seemed on the verge of a breakdown.

Nick Knowles doing similar on Ch5 right now fans.

I quite liked the patchwork quilt style of wallpaper samples 🤣

newnamethanks · 02/02/2023 19:43

Brick wallpaper! Er. Well.

Meredusoleil · 02/02/2023 19:51

I'm really not liking the house makeover tonight. The colours are far too bold and bright. The mint/pistachio green is OK. That's about it though!

Meredusoleil · 02/02/2023 19:53

Hate the vintage/distressed look too 😒

HufflepuffRavenclaw · 02/02/2023 19:54

The BBC1 show is clearly less about home makeover and more about organisation. It's dead easy to create a home with super swish storage if you are chucking everything out and and buying all new. The BBC one doesn't do that - they resprayed the kitchen rather than installing a new one, and used what the family had already. They just bought the wee things like paint. That's more achievable for the viewers at home, they see the crew do and can think about doing it themselves, making over a whole house isn't practical.

Over 400 samples??

Meredusoleil · 02/02/2023 20:02

Rummikub · 02/02/2023 20:00

Over 400 samples??

I wouldn't have it in my house, but it looked good in her room imho!

Rummikub · 02/02/2023 20:09

I thought patches of it did look nice- the pastel pink green floral. But then there was a random brick wall sample!

Nowdontmakeamess · 02/02/2023 22:26

I knew he would have ADHD as soon as he started talking about never finishing anything. I think most of the people on the show will have some form of neurodiversity or mental health condition.

The combination of executive functioning difficulties, anxiety/depression and attachment to things can lead to hoarding.

I know it’s a makeover show but it would be good if they could help arrange support so changes could be maintained long term.

I’ve been inspired to re-start my decluttering, and more importantly stop wasting money buying more stuff I don’t really need!

LeonoraFlorence · 02/02/2023 22:46

Convinced DH to watch last nights with me. I enjoyed it (DH didn’t! 😂) and what a lovely family again. I felt emotional when the dad was tearful, could just feel his desire for change. Wasn’t keen on any of the decor this week but the family seemed to like it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
As above, offering some long term support for the people involved would be brilliant.

louise5754 · 03/02/2023 07:10

The most I find laying about the house is £1. People don't put money down and just wander off in our home. 😂

louise5754 · 03/02/2023 07:11

Stacey seems like she enjoys helping and really cares. I hate the people who present shows purely for money. I'd like to see Stacey's house. I know she is on instagram but I'd like a show.

Beetr00t · 03/02/2023 12:33

I really love this show and thought this episode was great, seeing the dad struggle with his ADHD and finishing jobs hit me in the feels.

My best friend's house looks exactly like theirs, just stuff on top of stuff on top of stuff. I have (gently) suggested she gives it a watch. I might try and convince her to apply for s3 😃she also has ADHD.

riotlady · 03/02/2023 12:56

I really felt for that family! Interesting that both the family this week and last week settled down and had kids quite young- I think it makes it harder if you’ve not had time to properly set up your adult home before having kids, because then you’re trying to work out how to do it and run a household while juggling them as well. I had my daughter at 25, so
not as young as them, but it was a big shock and I’d only been with my husband a few months so there was definitely a “having a baby in a student flat” sort of vibe to begin with. Doesn’t help when you’ve got no money either!

Missingthesea · 03/02/2023 15:37

Regarding the wife/Mum in last night's episode laughing - I can say from personal experience (DH who collects Stuff and can't let anything go, adult DS with ADHD who never finishes anything) that if she didn't laugh she'd cry.

ShillyShallySherbet · 03/02/2023 19:12

I’ve just seen that there’s been a lot of backlash about how the rabbits were moved out of the conservatory and into a tiny hutch in the garden. I must admit I thought to myself I really hope the family move those poor rabbits back into their lovely big run in the conservatory once Stacey and the team have gone! The “playroom” looked really empty and could totally accommodate the dining table.

CuriousMama · 03/02/2023 19:31

Just managed to watch episode 2. I really liked them and most of what was done. Apart from the flower wall (dust collection) and the salmon colour on the parents bedroom walls. That's a terrible colour.

Salmon is too complimentary imho. The wall colour was more orange if you ask me! Awful. I quite liked the aqua wall colour in the living room. Noah's room was good. Rob is so creative.

But mainly, I just like how warm Stacey is and how well she seems to know the families.
