Absolutely loved it!

My list of big house jobs includes 'declutter' in every room so I was hoping to put off doing it be inspired. Loved Stacey Solomon though would have liked more from Ivan on the cleaning.

I found last night's episode quite amusing at times and actually laughed out loud at several moments. Especially the one where Stacey squished her nose against the bedroom wall to work out the midpoint between two plug sockets. Plus her comments about Van Gogh etc were very funny. She is so endearing and it shines out of her 👏

Pegasussnail · 10/12/2021 14:03

The family were lovely last night. Agree about Rob. He He super talented. How much stuff ???? Calpol syringes never mind actual calpol. So much stuff.

Glad mum has a decent office. Loved the Wall mounted bed. So clever. They had a beautiful kitchen.

PaulGallico · 10/12/2021 14:25

Really enjoy this programme - but I couldn't have let the camera's into my house without having cleaned that toilet. Dust, clutter, even the dog slobber but one of them should clean the loo.

I know it was grim
Juniper68 · 10/12/2021 19:02

Meredusoleil I know Stacey is so down to earth. I loved her in the jungle.

riotlady · 11/12/2021 16:15

Calpol syringes are one of the things that CONSTANTLY disappear in this house so
I sympathise with that one.

We live in a small flat and I’m not overly sentimental or a big shopper so I think we’d do ok- the mai thing I think I would get called out on is the “aspirational hobby” stuff- sewing machine that’s never been used, there’s a set of weights buried somewhere in the cupboard under the stairs etc. Because if I let go of it it’s like admitting I will never be the type of person who makes their own dresses!

MeredithMae · 14/12/2021 17:21

Yes I agree, how embarrassing about that toilet. I also felt sick at the giant dog slobber.

@SingingSands I feel the exact same! DS (11) just decided he's ready to get rid of his soft toys and gave away about 80% of them. Some of them I couldn't bear though so I popped them in a vacuum pack in the loft. Blush he may not be sentimental but I am apparently!

woodhill · 14/12/2021 17:29

@SingingSands

The bit tonight where the parents struggled more with giving away the soft toys than the children really resonated with me. When we were packing to move I asked my kids to thin out their cuddly toy collection and they really tackled it with gusto! They weren't sentimental at all (to my horror Grin). I realised that the memories of the toys were precious to me because I related to them being babies, the kids weren't bothered. I couldn't bring myself to look in the bin bags though, DH had to take them to the charity shop for me. I still get a twinge when I think of some of the toys that left, but I hope they all found lovely new owners Smile
Yes I've still got some, dcs don't want them
OhdearOhdearOhdearIndeed · 15/12/2021 13:49

I've really liked this series. Some great presenters who seem to really know their stuff and am pleased they include renters and tips for them. The choice of families taking part were good. Some nice genuine people, and not aspirational idiots wanting to be on TV.

The only thing I would say is many of the participants have good sized houses, just lots of stuff. I don't have a big place at all, so while I don't have loads of stuff, it feels quite cluttered and we could be more minimalistic. I think they are really missing an opportunity to help a lot of people who just live with a lack of space in general, not through having way too much clutter. Where I live there are a lot of families living in fairly small flats due to high house prices. A lot of the houses here are occupied by older couples. It would be nice to help these families too.

How the hell do these people afford to live in a decent sized property, and then fill it to the brim with stuff too? There can't be many people who can afford to do that surely? I suppose there is car boot sales....

TitsInAbsentia · 15/12/2021 17:21

STUFF! I keep complaining that we have too much stuff but having watched this programme (up to ep 5) I've decided we're actually pretty minimalist Grin That said, still room for improvement, mostly with my clothes, I mean I can do lots of different folding but when I'm in a rush it just gets shoved in, who folds neatly every single time?

Wish I'd married a handy man like Rob...

Meredusoleil · 16/12/2021 19:26

Just to give everyone the heads up that it's not on at the usual 8pm tonight (after Eastenders) but before EE!

Rummikub · 16/12/2021 20:12

Sort your life out?

BrennieGirl · 16/12/2021 20:13

It's a repeat.

Rummikub · 16/12/2021 20:18

Yes I’ve seen it before

But wfat prog was this referring to? I haven’t missed anything have i ..

Meredusoleil · 16/12/2021 21:20

What? I'm confused. Sort your life out was on tonight but the episode seemed very different to previous ones. There was a catch up a year later to start with and Stacey wasn't pregnant - love her hair more natural looking like this personally.

Are pp saying it was a repeat, as I hadn't seen it before and don't think I've missed any episodes since if started airing 🧐

Pegasussnail · 16/12/2021 21:45

I've seen this episode before.

Rummikub · 16/12/2021 22:00

Yes was a repeat
I remember seeing the red bag
And the stair drawers.

Delving42 · 16/12/2021 22:00

It was the pilot episode from earlier this year 😊

Rummikub · 16/12/2021 22:07

Oh that makes sense

Does that mean it’s the end of the series? I hope not!

Hibiscusroses · 18/12/2021 09:58

Yes it's the end of the series.

TitsInAbsentia · 18/12/2021 15:48

Can you all hurry up and volunteer for the next series so it's made pronto!

Meredusoleil · 18/12/2021 17:14

😂

Can't believe Stacey has actually kept her sons' foreskin at home somewhere 🤢

flowerycurtain · 01/01/2022 07:31

I've just discovered this show and love it !!

batmanladybird · 06/01/2022 17:39

I am on another thread but I am interested in clutter that will sell and what to do with it

TitsInAbsentia · 17/01/2023 22:44

I know this is a zombie (MN has even posted a little 'heads up' up there!) but think it's worth having the convo from previous series for anyone who is new and goes back to watch them.

So, it's back in a few weeks! I think the 26th Jan, get us all prepped for spring cleaning! 😁
