If Carrie is no longer with Big, I don’t think I want to watch the new SATC

I don’t know for sure, but I’ve heard rumours that Carrie has a new boyfriend in the new series And Just Like That. Not sure when it’s out. I know Big vs Aidan was a contentious issue, but I was always team Big, love him.

Rewatching the series as a Proper Adult, I thought -- all the men suck actually! All of them!

Even Harry was kind of a jerk breaking up with Charlotte.

The only perfect man was Dr Robert, who was gorgeous, charming, a doctor, and totally loved Miranda and her child.

There is NO WAY in real life she ditches him to go off with Steve, come on.

GrandOld · 10/11/2021 20:11

It's will be shit...

and I can't wait !!

SweeneyToddler · 10/11/2021 20:18

See, in an ideal world, Miranda would finally come out as a power lesbian and we’d all breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Steve was her beard and it would all make sense.

I definitely think SATC from some diversity if it was made now. Miranda would definitely be gay, there’d be more diversity. Apart from Miranda and Robert, the most diversity we saw was a marriage between an Episcopalian and a Jew.
@SweeneyToddler, that was some pure, 5-star made-for-tv trash! You're right, Kristin Davis's underwear seems to get more screentime than she does, but there were definitely at least two bras in the trailer -- one t-shirt, one lacy, both suitable for wearing in your No Hope Motel room with a mad trucker drilling through the wall from next door. Or something. Grin
Ah I missed the second lacy number. I’m glad she had time to pack something sexy when she jumped into that truck with crazy Meatloaf. Or maybe she hit the lingerie store along the way?

I dunno how she kept the white bra so lovely and white though. Mine always go a bit grey.

Do you think the characters are like themselves in real life?

If I knew them I’d like Charlotte, and Miranda and definitely Samantha but would walk across the street to avoid Carrie. Her antics are so childish, she is just looking for attention all the time. Her family probably cut her off.

MissBattleaxe · 12/11/2021 12:38

I agree @3luckystars! Carrie would be a drain, not a radiator. She dismisses her friends' problems and then blows a dog whistle the second she has a very minor crisis. Then she'd want you to give her the money to buy a flat... she's a horrible friend.

Liverbird77 · 12/11/2021 12:40

He was gorgeous back in the day.
I was always Team Big...never liked Aidan at all.

MissBattleaxe · 12/11/2021 12:44

The thing about Big is that he behaved really badly and was unreliable and unfaithful but you could definitely see why she kept going back. He had SOMETHING. I've seen Chris Noth in a few other things and he definitely has a presence.

Agree with this. They just had chemistry and he also was up for the kind of lifestyle Carrie wanted. Childfree and exciting. Old enough to be secure in himself.

The only other true contender was Aiden but he just wanted a normal, laid-back family life, which never would have made Carrie happy.

User3152672 · 12/11/2021 13:39

If ever there was a couple destined for divorce it was those two!

nc198567 · 12/11/2021 14:00

Team Big all the way. Aidan reminds me of a wet lettuce.

Starcaller · 12/11/2021 14:10

Big just has something about him. On paper he's an awful choice but he has such charisma and magnetism. He's the kind of guy who gives you butterflies after 20 years. He's the heart choice and Aiden is the head choice. It wouldn't surprise me if it didn't work out, but Carrie would never have had a happy life with Aiden. Really excited for the new series!

Miranda was always my fave but she got the shitty end of the stick for sure.

Really? I always think he’s kind of dopey-looking and a bit shifty. And as though all his baby photos would show him in tiny suits with cuff links. Yeah, actually, that’s who he reminds me of — an adult Boss Baby. 😀
Starcaller · 12/11/2021 14:40

Nooo he gives me the racing fanny gallops! Grin

Fatgalslim · 12/11/2021 14:41

Carrie was the worst character in it, total narcissist

You are a strange, kinky woman. 😀
DottyHarmer · 12/11/2021 15:10

I am watching series 3 at the moment, Carrie has just met Aidan. First time round I was mad about Aidan - he was my ideal man. All these years later…. Meh. I would still choose him over Big, but for Carrie he was the wrong man.

Just reading on some forum that Aidan was “toxic masculinity” because he wouldn’t date Carrie at first because she smoked thereby not loving her for who she was and denying her identity Confused

Starcaller · 12/11/2021 15:37

Aww Stanford 😭😭😭

GreenClock · 12/11/2021 19:39

Very sad news indeed about the Stanford actor.

Would be good to hear what Trey is up to! He was a good character, well acted.

@Yamayo

Steve was awful. He was whiny and immature and they had nothing in common. Miranda got pregnant by accident, ended up selling her pride and joy Manhattan apartment, becoming the main breadwinner and turning carer for his mother. Then he cheats on her for not being present enough?? Then all her friends basically agree with him and blame her for his cheating????

To me that whole storyline was showing was settling down can be for a woman. She ditched all her principles for a guy who wasn't even special- he was only nice compared to the all the other guys she had dated (and the show had given her all the jokes/embarrassing sexual encounters).

I found her relationship with Steve quite misogynistic. It did feel as if her writers were putting the ambitious career woman back in her place.

She should have ended up with the doctor...

Amen to this! I too would love her to come out as a lesbian, excel in her career, move back to Manhattan and reclaim her life without whiny, cheating Steve.

I loved all the characters as a youngster but they haven’t stood the test of time upon rewatching. Carrie is awful and somehow it feels like the shows creators haven’t really realised that.

I do love Big but I’d be happy on his terms, dinner a few nights a week and separate places. Happy days.

SweeneyToddler · 12/11/2021 22:02

Just saw an ad for NowTV on Twitter. They’ll be showing the new series from Dec 9th.

duvetdrama · 13/11/2021 08:07

Aleksandr was creepy as hell. Who is Raoul mentioned earlier?

I liked Big as a character and have to agree I'll be annoyed if they've divorced after all that!

Aidan was lovely though 😍

I love him in the good wife
