If Carrie is no longer with Big, I don’t think I want to watch the new SATC

I don’t know for sure, but I’ve heard rumours that Carrie has a new boyfriend in the new series And Just Like That. Not sure when it’s out. I know Big vs Aidan was a contentious issue, but I was always team Big, love him.

@EachandEveryone

Charlotte hasn’t been in anything since has she?
My nine year old has a mysterious liking for terrible Christmas films so I recently saw her in something deeply weird playing Matthew Broderick's uptight wife in a film about Christmas lights rivalry between neighbours -- but that may be a million years old, come to think of it.
CruellaDeVilla · 09/11/2021 11:16

I though Carrie was right to be pissed off with Petrovsky in Paris: he begged her to come to Paris because he needed her to stroke his poor little man ego then dropped her like a hot brick once his fawning friends made themselves available AND he resented her having HER fans in Paris and engineered it so she missed the event they threw for her. He was a misogynist and a bit weird and superior and disrespectful.

Big, hmm, I’d never have forgiven the jilting, NFW. Aiden was only sexy in the film where they had dinner. I’d never have admitted the kiss either, Samantha was right about that: “say nothing”

I liked Steve but yes, Miranda got royally shafted working FTOTH and then being blamed for his shagging someone else, wtf?

LittleMysSister · 09/11/2021 11:30

@CruellaDeVilla I agree re Petrovsky, I always felt he wanted Carrie on his arm for a bit of glamour, but didn't really get her or want her to continue on with her own career.

I think Aiden was lovely but just a normal guy who wanted a normal settled down life with kids etc...Carrie never wanted that.

Looooool I'm way too invested in these people.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/11/2021 13:04

@HumousWhereTheHeartIs

I hope Carrie ditched Big after being treated badly for years
Me too!

I've been watching series 1 and 2 while sitting at home in isolation. She was an idiot at the beginning - should have run for the hills years ago - but he did treat her badly later on.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/11/2021 13:26

Thinking about it. Aiden was the best.

Just Carrie didn’t see it

I saw her in a film a few years ago with Meat Loaf, of all people. Can’t remember much about it but I think he was a murderous trucker.

Narrowly missed an Oscar nod, I’m sure.

fairycakes1234 · 09/11/2021 15:30

i hate Aidan, always did and always will, i remember he made her stop smoking, couldnt handle someone smoking, it was a deal breaker for him yet a few years later just before she got back with him the second time, there he is puffing his brains out, outside the pub and not a hint of apology, idiot

Verfremdungseffekt · 09/11/2021 16:17

I now want to see prissy Charlotte playing opposite Meatloaf’s murderous trucker. Grin

lovingnewme · 09/11/2021 18:09

@Yamayo

Steve was awful. He was whiny and immature and they had nothing in common. Miranda got pregnant by accident, ended up selling her pride and joy Manhattan apartment, becoming the main breadwinner and turning carer for his mother. Then he cheats on her for not being present enough?? Then all her friends basically agree with him and blame her for his cheating????

To me that whole storyline was showing was settling down can be for a woman. She ditched all her principles for a guy who wasn't even special- he was only nice compared to the all the other guys she had dated (and the show had given her all the jokes/embarrassing sexual encounters).

I found her relationship with Steve quite misogynistic. It did feel as if her writers were putting the ambitious career woman back in her place.

She should have ended up with the doctor...

I 100% agree!

I'd like to think if SATC had been filmed nowadays Miranda would have never settled for Steve - she would have chosen to raise the baby alone (he would have drifted off) and be living her best life without him whining at her continuously.

What I never understood was the scene where Carrie met Aidan and his baby (well, SJP’s real-life baby) on the street when she was running away from Berger ahead of their first date. Aidan told her he was in a new relationship and had a kid.

But Aidan and Steve co-owned Scout, their bar. Steve was with Miranda at the time so surely Steve would have mentioned Aidan’s new relationship and baby?

Yes, I am far too invested.

I would love if Trey Macdougal was in the new series. Loved him. Would love to see how he ended up.

Plus, Frances Sternhagen is still alive (she’s 91!) so we could’ve had the return of Bunny.

Chargreen · 09/11/2021 18:56

I think Carrie had heard Aiden had got married and had a baby, as you say probably via Miranda, so it wasn’t a complete shock to her when she bumped into him on the street.

Berger was an arsehole, wasn’t he? My least favourite of all her boyfriends and hook-ups and that is really saying something

Heavymetaldetector · 09/11/2021 20:22

The writers cba to write about Aiden after they broke up and completely forgot about how St and Aiden were beasties.
In season 5 ep 6 Carrie is obsessing about Nina Katz "face girl" so asks Steve if he's OK and he says he's doing good...now blah blah. But then! Behold a mere FOUR EPISODES LATER in s6 e1 Aiden has gotten married and had a baby. Wtf is this time line? Bc season 6 is only a few weeks after the end of season 5?
Thinking about this too much now....

Heavymetaldetector · 09/11/2021 20:39

I would also really like to see what happened toTrey.he wasn't all bad, was he?

Heavymetaldetector · 09/11/2021 20:40

Oh and yes Berger was a twat. So mopey and whiny. I think he was whinier than Aiden.

3luckystars · 09/11/2021 21:24

I liked Trey too and his mother.

Aidan’s head was absolutely enormous compared to Carries.

CruellaDeVilla · 09/11/2021 21:50

Trey? He had a mummy complex and couldn’t get it up unless he was wanking over big tits in a porn mag! Not exactly a catch and there was also Bunny to deal with.

CruellaDeVilla · 09/11/2021 21:51

I used a scrunchie today and thought of how cross Berger got when Carrie pointed out that no NewYorker would use one. Fragile males ego again, just nobody ever called them out on it,

foxgoosefinch · 09/11/2021 22:07

Haha yes! Now scrunchies are proper fashionable again, I wonder if they’ll include a reference to that in the reboot Grin

Fi1982 · 10/11/2021 14:21

@SweeneyToddler that trailer was hilarious, what a pile of shite! And I noticed the guy with the tiny penis from Scary Movie was also in it. Stellar cast all round 😆

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 10/11/2021 17:14

I like how Charlotte was in a bra for about 90% of that trailer. Not even a sexy one. Just a boring white t-shirt bra. Of course, all women just hang out in hotel rooms in a bra and jeans.

Dropcloth · 10/11/2021 17:25

@SweeneyToddler, that was some pure, 5-star made-for-tv trash! You're right, Kristin Davis's underwear seems to get more screentime than she does, but there were definitely at least two bras in the trailer -- one t-shirt, one lacy, both suitable for wearing in your No Hope Motel room with a mad trucker drilling through the wall from next door. Or something. Grin

AliceAldridge · 10/11/2021 19:38

My assessment was that Aiden wanted to get married to Carrie and have a kid so had one with the next girlfriend who came along to get over Carrie, but then was actually quite happy, is how I read that one (although it's been a while). I am also not sure why she didn't already know that from Steve though.

I absolutely loved Trey... but not as a husband or boyfriend! Also liked him as Orson.

AliceAldridge · 10/11/2021 19:40

I also think Miranda should have had the baby by herself.

PlanktonsComputerWife · 10/11/2021 19:40

@SweeneyToddler now that's what I call cinema 😆
