If Carrie is no longer with Big, I don’t think I want to watch the new SATC

I don’t know for sure, but I’ve heard rumours that Carrie has a new boyfriend in the new series And Just Like That. Not sure when it’s out. I know Big vs Aidan was a contentious issue, but I was always team Big, love him.

Sorry but Big was a bellend. Aiden was the best of a very bad bunch but that’s not saying much. Remember the horror that was Berger???

I liked Steve and absolutely loved Harry- he’s the one you’d want to end up with.

DaisyNGO · 04/11/2021 16:43

I would like to see Miranda's life reflect Cynthia's in terms of politics - lawyer to politician seems to work and would be good storyline as long as they don't preach about it.

I was all right with Big. I don't like Carrie though. I thought Big was very clear about who he is and Carrie kept trying to change it or pretend he was something else.

EachandEveryone · 05/11/2021 00:50

I hope its more like the show SJP did Divorce.

readwritelove · 05/11/2021 17:31

I agree, Each. Divorce was great! I found it interesting that Kim Catrall’s show, around the same time - Sensitive Skin - had a similar feel. Did you also see that?

EachandEveryone · 05/11/2021 17:33

Yes I love Sensitive Skin. I mean the new series could be good if its approached like a completely different show than before. Im hoping we will be pleasantly surprised.

readwritelove · 05/11/2021 17:35

I agree, really hope it’s got a grown up, dry Divorce-y feel and no silliness!

FMSucks · 05/11/2021 17:56

I absolutely lived for SATC. I always loved Carrie with Big but when I look back she was so entitled and up her own arse. She’s a terrible friend and not much better as a partner. She wore Big down, was obsessed and literally stalked him. It was a terrible relationship and they both should have run for the hills although I will say that many of us have had a “Big” who totally messed us around, wouldn’t commit etc. It was obvious he was “just not that into her” I also married my “Big” and it was a disaster so can completely get on board with them being divorced in the new series! Grin

Heavymetaldetector · 05/11/2021 18:00

I just hope its not utterly tone deaf spoilt filthy rich women thinking they have terribly difficult lives yet again, something a bit more grown up and with at least some semblance of self awareness

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 05/11/2021 21:21

I didn't like Big. He and Carrie deserved each other. Aleksandr was awful. Aiden was too nice for her.

I hope Carrie doesn't bleat on about how much she misses Samantha, that would be very inappropriate given their real life feud.

BrennieGirl · 05/11/2021 21:34

I’ve seen a few posts on Instagram about the reboot. Kristen Davis who plays Charlotte has had some work done to her face and ruined her lovely face.

foxgoosefinch · 05/11/2021 22:10

@BrennieGirl oh what a shame! She was so stunningly beautiful; I can’t imagine she could ever look better with work done than just her natural ageing face Sad

BrennieGirl · 05/11/2021 22:27

@foxgoosefinch I know. She has that awful pillowy look now. They must be under such a lot of pressure regarding their looks and ageing. Such a shame because she was very pretty.

EachandEveryone · 06/11/2021 01:09

Charlotte hasn’t been in anything since has she?

starray · 06/11/2021 01:40

Thanks for the spoiler in the title of your post!

@EachandEveryone

Charlotte hasn’t been in anything since has she?
Hallmark-type films and something on Netflix with Rob Lowe.

She’s definitely had plenty of injectables but looks alright.

Not a spoiler, no one knows. Lots of people saying Big is dead and Chris Noth was on set filming flashbacks
halloweenie13 · 06/11/2021 05:15

I agree it is ridiculous to make her split with Big, however it's a clear way to ensure at least one of the women are still being single and exciting within New York. I think Willie Garson's character might be killed off as apparently they knew he was ill, although big and Samantha are good guesses I don't think they will.

Yamayo · 06/11/2021 08:53

Steve was awful. He was whiny and immature and they had nothing in common.
Miranda got pregnant by accident, ended up selling her pride and joy Manhattan apartment, becoming the main breadwinner and turning carer for his mother.
Then he cheats on her for not being present enough??
Then all her friends basically agree with him and blame her for his cheating????

To me that whole storyline was showing was settling down can be for a woman. She ditched all her principles for a guy who wasn't even special- he was only nice compared to the all the other guys she had dated (and the show had given her all the jokes/embarrassing sexual encounters).

I found her relationship with Steve quite misogynistic. It did feel as if her writers were putting the ambitious career woman back in her place.

She should have ended up with the doctor...

Yamayo · 06/11/2021 09:03

In hindsight the only good guy was Smith- sweet, didn't play games, unthreatened by Samantha's money and success and devoted to her.
Long term I get why they split but he was all round a nice person

SusannaRowan · 06/11/2021 09:09

I tried a re-watch, but I'm older now and it just feels so juvenile and irritating, although I liked it first time round. I guess they may have grown up in the following years. The only character I still liked was Samantha, I like KC as an actress too, so I don't think I'll be watching.

VaguelyInteresting · 06/11/2021 09:16

I measure my personal growth by how much I rated my favourite SATC boyfriends / husbands :

16- Berger “oh he’s so intense and brooding and hot. And a WRITER. I would like a bite of that Berger.”

22- “Aiden. Aiden is definitely the best one. And he’s an accidental hipster and as I now live in London, this is good. Yes. He’s the one.”

27- “I am now dating older men and drinking red wine so am very sophisticated. I would marry Big. Carrie should marry Big. We should all aspire to rich, suave, Big Boyfriends, and wear cocktail dresses all the time”.

33- “I am now a single mother of a 5 year old and I am on the lookout for a Harry. Harry and his hairy back. What a good man. A solid man. Devoted to his wife. A man you can have food poisoning with and still laugh. How did I not see before that Harry is the best one?.”

I will never pick Kind But Whingy Steve. Sorry Steve fans.

VaguelyInteresting · 06/11/2021 09:16

Oh Smith!!!!

Too intimidated by his beauty to even contemplate hypothetically Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/11/2021 09:22

Be nice if all are happy in their relationships

But sure be something wrong and someone be looking for love

Yamayo · 06/11/2021 09:42

I keep forgetting Harry. He is lovely. But so is Smith and he is better looking Grin

bucketey · 06/11/2021 10:13

I liked Harry for the most part but in the episode where he and Charlotte split up he absolutely wasn't blameless. In fact, he pursued Charlotte knowing that he wouldn't be willing to marry her due to his promise to his mother that he wouldn't marry a gentile. Which was actually kind of shitty. Once they fell for each other, he was uncompromising in his unwillingness to even consider breaking that promise despite the fact that it wasn't a fair thing for his mother to have asked of him. So Charlotte went through the whole difficult process of converting, even being so committed to give up traditions she loved, like Christmas. And on their first ceremonial mean which she worked so hard on and clearly meant so very much to her, he ignored her efforts and watched a football match.

It was actually seriously insensitive and while her comments about him punching above his weight were horrible. He was far from blameless in that whole argument. So yeah, he seemed to be a good husband but I think he gets too much credit for, to be quite honest, just being an ordinary sometimes selfish man.
