Anyone watching? I love this series and fancy Perez Grin He seems to have some extra timber on him.. I don’t like him in a suit, much prefer a fishermans knitted jumper on him..

Where were we left when the last series ended? Did he get together with someone? Someone who seemed to have shady motives? I can’t remember!

@TheShriekingShack

Why was Donna angry with Jimmy? I can’t remember the details. I think they should have a recap at the beginning of the series when there’s characters coming back.
I think he was the one who discovered she was the girl's murderer - though I'm basing this on what I've read here and on Wikipedia. Jimmy needs to learn to delegate better - he seems to be everywhere and investigating everything, and surely he wouldn't be needed doing welfare visits to Donna? He's as annoying in this as in the books.

Yeah, perez on his mobile, on the beach, perfect signal. I live by the coast. Noone gets signal on a beach

Bear in mind Shetland is mostly coast - if there was no signal by the coast there would be no signal anywhere! (But to be fair there are plenty of places with no signal in Shetland. The last time I was at Minn beach it had a signal, but a fairly poor one).

Thanks Samuel and Button.

Who will have the sad task of telling Marianne's father that she has been dead all that time.
All that time that he spent waiting for her to come home or contact him.
SadSadSad

So have the three men been paying her Dad's care home fees as some sort of penance? That doesn't make much sense, as it would be traceable back to them. All very odd.

Please let Duncan have used some common sense and read that letter. (Although why he would then have posted a letter is a mystery, but that could just have been misdirection - it could have been another letter, not the one Donna told him to post.)

I wonder how safe the nun is going to be in the hospital in Lerwick where Dr Bedford works.

Oooh, good point! For god's sake, Perez, don't put Sandy on the door to guard her. She'll be dead in ten minutes...

🤣

muldersspeedos · 18/11/2021 17:07

Maybe the secretary Fiona and Galbraith's wife are in it together?

Duncan is a fecking eejit. That marked drink would have tasted vile. Donna could have offed herself without Duncan's help but wanted to implicate him. Horrible woman. I felt sorry for her being a DV victim but she's a nasty pasty who has shown no remorse.

Is it Wednesday yet? I need to watch the final episode!

Oooh maybe the cleaner is having it away with the doctor and provided him with a false alibi?

Lunde · 18/11/2021 19:37

Yeah the only way it makes sense that she wanted Duncan's help is for her to wreak revenge on people she considered to have "wronged" her - because she could have done it herself.

I felt some sympathy for her in season 4 as a dv victim but her lack of remorse showed her to be a nasty piece of work

SirSamuelVimes · 18/11/2021 19:41

But assisted suicide is illegal, isn't it? So Duncan's in the shit for helping her to kill herself. She doesn't need to frame him, he actually has done the deed.

SirSamuelVimes · 18/11/2021 19:43

Argh posted to soon.

I reckon she predicted that Jimmy would help Duncan cover up that he was involved, and has sent off the letter telling her lawyer that Duncan helped her to commit suicide so that Duncan gets it for helping her and Jimmy gets it for covering up a crime.

Graffittiunderpass · 18/11/2021 20:50

In episode 3 she was looking at the back of Duncan's head thoughtfully and said "I bet Jimmy would be devastated if you weren't around"

She's framing Duncan to exact revenge on Jimmy I think.

PickupaPenguin8 · 18/11/2021 21:00

I think so, yes.

SirSamuelVimes · 18/11/2021 21:13

If it comes out the Jimmy has covered up Duncan's involvement in Donna's death and that Sandy has leaked photos of a crime scene that's a LOT of corruption for a tiny police force. That'd make a big mess of things, wouldn't it?

Lunde · 18/11/2021 21:35

It would be a great twist if Donna was somehow involved in the death of the girl.

I think Jimmy will be forced to turn a blind eye to what Sandy did, based on what he did for Duncan.

Oooh interesting!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/11/2021 22:21

Jimmy and Sandy both sacked/imprisoned, and Tosh promoted? I could live with that.

IntemperateSpirits · 19/11/2021 07:36

Tosh is really carrying them all this series. Doing all the work, and none of the corruption.

SirSamuelVimes · 19/11/2021 08:02

Agreed, Tosh is definitely the MVP of Shetland Police.

diddl · 20/11/2021 21:42

"Basically she doesn't think that it was her fault that she killed the people she did"

I thought that she had only killed Lizzie?

SirSamuelVimes · 20/11/2021 21:45

You're right, I was thinking she had killed another girl later but that wasn't her.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/11/2021 21:46

No, implausibly the copycat killing was the work of another murderer. What a dangerous place Shetland appears to be!

Rhannion · 20/11/2021 21:49

Donna killed the first girl, then another young woman was murdered by Donna’s husband to frame Thomas Malone.

Spoiler alert

In a way she killed Thomas Malone because he was let out of prison for a murder he didn’t commit, tormented by people who still felt he was guilty and tragically died of a heart attack.
