Anyone watching? I love this series and fancy Perez Grin He seems to have some extra timber on him.. I don’t like him in a suit, much prefer a fishermans knitted jumper on him..

Where were we left when the last series ended? Did he get together with someone? Someone who seemed to have shady motives? I can’t remember!

@NewModelArmyMayhem18

No, neither was I *@diddl*. I would put her at early 40s but stand to be corrected!
I went to school with the screaming nun actress - she must be 51
Maireas · 06/11/2021 13:46

That's interesting, @Florabella, and places her age wise.
Jimmy is looking very rough this series.

CaptainThe95thRifles · 06/11/2021 13:55

I prefer to think of season 6 Jimmy as "fashionably distressed", like today's denim...

FluffyBooBoo · 06/11/2021 13:55

Age real life is irrelevant though. Look at the people that play Romeo and Juliet, or Rizzo in Grease for example.

Maireas · 06/11/2021 14:14

True, @FluffyBooBoo, although one would hope for more realism in Shetland!

notacooldad · 10/11/2021 21:49

I'm bored with it now!

2Rebecca · 10/11/2021 22:03

I am totally confused. Too many vaguely connected characters whose connections aren't fully explained like who the brothers in to politics attached to Mrs Galbraith are and why one of their wives is somehow connected to someone but it's so confusing I've stopped caring

2Rebecca · 10/11/2021 22:15

And why is Mark Bonnar hanging out with nasty hyperventilating killer woman?

SisterMichael · 10/11/2021 22:22

That was pretty sad though I enjoyed Jimmy in a polo shirt

Lunde · 10/11/2021 22:38

Is Sandy the UK's most incompetent Police Officer?

Although I liked Jimmy in a polo shirt - will the defence manage to get the whole interview struck out when it comes to court as the defendant was obviously in a delusional state and in the middle of a major MH crisis?

longtompot · 10/11/2021 22:42

I thought that was a really sad episode. We knew how Fraser died, but Logan coming to terms with it was awful.
Who is the nun off to 'Dundee' sent the shhh postcard and hiding her cross in the peat?
Duncan is with the murder with cancer as she was pregnant with his child through their affair, but I can't remember if they had the child.

Selkiesarereal · 10/11/2021 22:55

Yes, they had a son who is now in Glasgow and doesn’t want anything to do with his mum. Duncan didn’t know he was the father whilst the son was growing up.

Still none the wiser as to who shot Galbraith.

SirSamuelVimes · 10/11/2021 23:00

Joining you all in your confusion!

Screaming nun is interesting. As is the daughter of the guy in the care home - why did Galbraith go looking for her in the first place, if not at her dad's request?

The campaign manager guy seems like the obvious person to be able to get to the pressure chamber witness, he seems to have the means, but a) is he too obvious and b) why would he want to kill Alex Galbraith in the first place?

Argh!

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 10/11/2021 23:03

As an aside, I haven't been to Shetland (yet) but I have come across several cake huts /honesty boxes (no fridges - that's posh) on other islands, and on the mainland too.

Who said upthread that Sandy leaked the photos - good call! Can he really survive that?

SirSamuelVimes · 10/11/2021 23:06

I hope not. He's bloody useless. Plus the actor's accent seems to have changed loads this series, it's very distracting!

2Rebecca · 10/11/2021 23:14

I'm waiting for the significance of the transsexual nun to become clear or did the BBC just decide to throw in a random transsexual nun for the hell of it? It's not as though finding a woman to play a nun who'd fade in to the background is difficult. They deliberately picked that person to play a nun. The series is confusing enough without deliberately introducing red herrings. Is this one the author didn't write? It seems too fragmented and confusing to be a proper Shetland

Lunde · 10/11/2021 23:24

The released murderer and Duncan - their son was the seal sanctuary guy from season 4 I think - the one that almost had a thing with Cassie before they found out they were siblings. No idea why Duncan is involving himself

Many people acting suspiciously in this episode

  • the dodgy doc know going on "picnics" with the wife who cheated on him with Galbraith
  • the campaign manager
  • the brother of the campaign manager
  • the shrieking nun
  • the guy from the sub accident who is with Fraser's mum

Personally I think it will turn out to have something to do with the drug running

GinnyMackesy · 10/11/2021 23:29

I'm really enjoying Shetland and am new to it this series.

Has anyone got the DVDs of the earlier series? I looked at reviews for the 2019 DVD set with series 1-5, but problems with a missing episode and with navigation - no gaps between episodes and so it's like a six hour film or something, making it difficult to find where you got up to last time - are mentioned?

Rhannion · 11/11/2021 00:17

Jamie’s mother is the sister of the guy who was beaten up after the death of the man who had the drone. That’s why he went to identity with her to see Jamie as he was his nephew.

What transsexual nun?
Tractordiggerdump · 11/11/2021 00:33

Transsexual nun Shock

EmergencyHydrangea · 11/11/2021 01:46

There wasn't a transexual nun. She was just old

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 11/11/2021 06:52

So was it the nurse who was shown at the end with the gold cross necklace? So her role is significant?

I thought it naive of Duncan to take the dying woman out into town and not expect she'd receive some abuse.

I am still struggling to remember her from series 4 although that's the series that centred around some island folk/rock festival wasn't it?

I am still getting confused by all the characters and their inter-relatedness.

Was that episode four or five?

SoupDragon · 11/11/2021 07:30

No, it was the nun at the end wasn't it?

SirSamuelVimes · 11/11/2021 07:41

It was the screaming nun at the end, burying the necklace.

No such thing as the transsexual nun!

Think Duncan is being bloody stupid with Donna
Wish he'd heard her saying to the sister of the woman she'd killed how she wasn't sorry and that she'd deserved it. That might have put him off a bit. Doesn't he run a restaurant or bar or something? He's not going to have many customers if her picks her over the rest of the island.
