Anyone going to be watching?

OP posts:
takethattime · 07/11/2021 22:04

@GreenLunchBox

Bloody hell, they better wrap it up properly next week or I'm going to be fuming!
I hope after 5 weeks of this, it’s a good final episode and not a final 15 minutes rush job to finish the story at the end.
the80sweregreat · 07/11/2021 22:07

Had a bit of a think .. these are my musings ..

Olivier torched the car lot for Theo for the insurance money.
Theo turned into 'Ed' in order to gaslight his wife for him and then get custody of the children using her past mental health concerns as a lever to do this.
The rest of it was filler!

MajesticWhine · 07/11/2021 22:11

Why wouldn't you call the police straight away when you find a break in and someone tied up ? Confused

PeskyRooks · 07/11/2021 22:21

What was the lion and the boar story all about? My kids wouldn't have listened to that they would've been all "what you on about mum?!"

PeskyRooks · 07/11/2021 22:26

Also that was a good mate of Angela's, she hasn't seen her for 8 years but let's her move into her massive beautiful house!

Reminds me of Hollington Drive and Long Call, beautiful massive houses decorated in current fashion, everyone wearing beautiful clothes, no-one lights their houses properly all going around in the half dark!!

dozyjosie42 · 07/11/2021 22:27

I'm starting to think this has been a big waste of my time. Hoping something great happens next week but so far it's been a disjointed story with incredibly wooden acting

GreenLunchBox · 07/11/2021 22:32

"there are rules of the jungle just like in real life, which is why I have to be supervised when seeing you" or something Confused

But why would Olivier risk his freedom for him?
GreenLunchBox · 07/11/2021 22:35

The whole thing doesn't make sense. Why bring the DV storyline into it? The gaslighting thing is enough and surely it would have been better without the DV thing because then we would be more likely to wonder whether she really was 'mad' or not Confused

ChequerBoard · 07/11/2021 22:55

Just watched tonight episode. For the first few minutes J thought it had turned a corner and was now going to good, watching Angela cleverly untangle the web of deceit and get her kids back.

But no, what a load of twaddle.

Why would a rich businessman like Olivier get covered in petrol setting fire to a garage himself? Surely he would have paid someone to do that for him?

Why not call the police as sons as she knew someone had nicked the CCVTV from the garage?

Why did she go to the garage to see Theo? Why did she agree to meet him? Why oh why did she go back to house to tell Olivier she knew the score?

All she is doing is playing into his hands and making it dead easy for him to get her committed again.

Daft and irritatingly slow plot...

Italiangreyhound · 08/11/2021 00:32

Who told Olivier or Thei she was looking for CCTV?

It's getting good but 6 episodes is too long. It could have been done in 4.

Wingedharpy · 08/11/2021 01:14

The spoon in the butter then scrape off with knife thing, was something her husband told her to do so she didn't sully the butter block with toast crumbs.
He ticked her off for not doing it in the episode where she let the kids take the blame for going in to his office and getting ink on the carpet.

the80sweregreat · 08/11/2021 06:21

The knife in the butter is to hi light his control over her in the past.
Why Olivier set light to the garage might be discovered next week ( along with who rescued the baby out of the pool and why is the photo of them showing the baby with his head turned away , which they lingered on a lot and was a bit disturbing I thought !)
I'm glad it's the last one next week.

the80sweregreat · 08/11/2021 06:45

Maybe Theo / Ed did murder the young secretary for him in exchange for him helping him out with the insurance scam ?
Who knows? ..

I assumed Theo was following her.

That photo was in a flashback last week I think, when they were explaining about how her psychosis started - they faced the baby away because he was always crying and Olivier wanted a pic of the family looking happy
Walkingalot · 08/11/2021 08:28

Maybe Olivier and Theo are lovers?
He admitted the reason he's doing all this is because she left him before and he had to beg and plead to get her back. Not something a narcissist would forgive.
Why would Olivier risk throttling her outside the house where anyone could see or did she imagine that?
None of it makes sense so anything could happen in the final episode!

lazymum99 · 08/11/2021 09:05

That throttling outside the front door would be n the CCTV. You could see Olivier and the policeman on camera before. Maybe she took a chance he was going to do something violent to get it on camera.
Although he probably went back inside and deleted it

exactly. Also not to put on weight.
BillieSpain · 08/11/2021 10:42

It is a very good series if you have/had an abusive person in your life.

Exagerated for TV, but the butter thing is very clever, many observations are.

BillieSpain · 08/11/2021 10:45

There are 'Laws of the Jungle' in many, many childrens books.

BillieSpain · 08/11/2021 10:50

@Justheretoaskaquestion91

Does anyone believe that a husband would actually go to these lengths?
Absolutely.
LittleMysSister · 08/11/2021 10:59

I think they need to provide a really good reason why Olivier and Theo would do these favours for each other. It can't be payback for something previous as they have both done major favours for the other.

Also I hope the 'dead' mistress comes back into play in the final episode as otherwise that was completely pointless - although I guess they planted the letter and invented her murder to reinforce their plot in Angela's mind.

I really hope she recorded her conversation with him on the doorstep or is intending to steal the CCTV footage otherwise why on earth would she go round there and tell Olivier what she knows?!

GreenLunchBox · 08/11/2021 11:04

The baby was rescued by a random guy in the pool and the baby's head was turned away because he cried all the time and was crying when the photo was taken
the80sweregreat · 08/11/2021 11:14

Ok, considering how slow this drama is , I am missing loads ( probs because I'm on here and not concentrating on it )
