Anyone going to be watching?

OP posts:
Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 01/11/2021 10:32

No one else finding this show exceptionally silly and unbelievable ? It was fairly obvious from episode one that the very badly acted Ed Harrison was setting her up. It’s just v v silly. Is this the same team who wrote the equally silly Joanne Froggatt one where she was raped and the rapist turned into a moustache twirling caricature?

The rapist from that is a horrible husband caricature in real life now, more drama than anything he's done on the screen.
TitsInAbsentia · 01/11/2021 11:54

@ValerieCupcake I had to google that, it's all a bit mud slingy messy Sad

girlmom21 · 01/11/2021 12:34

@MamOfTwo

I'm now thinking Olivier paid Ed to approach and say all that stuff to Angela - epic gaslighting?
Of course that's what's happened. She hasn't imagined any of it.

Olivier's deleted the CCTV, paid the 'neighbours' who were in the house when she phoned the police, got Ed to tell her the police were coming etc etc.

TheVolturi · 01/11/2021 13:15

The baby crying so much was really hard for me to watch because my first was exactly like this and it really was hard 🤦🏻‍♀️

LittleMysSister · 01/11/2021 14:02

The only ending that would make it worth it for me now if there is actually a huge twist and it was Angela all along and Olivier isn't actually the bad guy. But I don't think that's going to happen.

The whole Ed being in cahoots with Olivier is quite an obvious 'twist' if that's as far as it goes.

Also it made me laugh last night that's she's an amazing pianist, amazing artist...is there anything this woman can't do, despite showing no evidence of any personality at all through the whole show?

It would have been good if the flashbacks had incorporated scenes of Angela and Olivier actually getting on as a couple in their earlier years - they are such a weird match and it's hard to see how they'd ever be together even before he turned evil.

Yes! It’s crazy! I’m
Torn between thinking the wife needs to stop airing her laundry snd thinking oh wow he’s so awful why not

Hahhaha

TheVolturi · 01/11/2021 14:50

Apart from being a bit dishy though her dh has absolutely nothing going for him does he!

Ew do you think? I think he's grim. I don't like slim men though Grin
girlmom21 · 01/11/2021 14:51

Oh but he is minted.

JacquelineCarlyle · 01/11/2021 14:55

I agree that Olivier has set her up but my question is (& has been the same all along!) why on earth would she take the word of a complete stranger? I get that her husband is abusive, but it still doesn't make sense to me that she'd believe a totally random person and not consider that it could be a set up.

I do hope it ends well & there's a better 'twist' as otherwise it really is shite!

girlmom21 · 01/11/2021 14:59

@JacquelineCarlyle I can only assume that she's desperate and Ed knew so much about her she believed he was just trying to be a good guy

ChequerBoard · 01/11/2021 15:05

Also if the DH is gaslighting her why draw her attention to it with the novel in her suitcase? Wouldn't he be better to keep quiet and let her assume it was her MH issues at play?

girlmom21 · 01/11/2021 15:07

Because, like she said, it's a shit story. Who would possibly believe that's happened in real life? The psychiatrist doesn't believe her. Everyone believes she's read this incredibly well-thumbed book and that she's confusing fiction and reality.

He's making everyone doubt her reality.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2021 15:44

Avoided thread till now as working last night

Sooooooooo

We know what edgewater is

She Basically zapped our after dropping her baby in the water

We know he’s ok as max is eldest

Seems she had pnd and a crying baby bless her

Why have another child so close

Looks like hubby is always bullying mode even years back

And trying to isolate her from family

Least she has her work boss as a friend and support

Ed is real. So both hubby and Ed gaslighting but why is Ed helping hubby

Will he come clean

Why does hubby want sole custody

Is he seeing someone else as he won’t be looking after the boys as works so much

girlmom21 · 01/11/2021 15:49

It's more than that. She thought he was some kind of second coming. That part of her mom was in him somehow. She thought he could walk on water.

Is that not more like postpartum psychosis?

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2021 16:08

Oh that boy went over my head

Know she spoke to vicar and said maz was quiet the time her mum died but didn’t clock on that why she was saying walk

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2021 16:09

*bit

butterpuffed · 01/11/2021 17:44

The first 3 episodes weren't that brilliant but it certainly picked up last night .
There has to be a twist ahead to make things come together . [I still don't get the scene with the dog or the dead fox outside their house]

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 01/11/2021 18:30

Does anyone believe that a husband would actually go to these lengths?

Hope478 · 01/11/2021 18:33

This show is absolutely shite, not sure why I'm still watching it??? So maybe it's doing something right Confused

It's oddly compelling isn't it ? I am hooked too.
MajesticWhine · 01/11/2021 22:37

Just caught up. That was a much better episode and I'm a bit more invested now. Hoping for some kind of comeuppance for Olivier now, and Ed, couple of bastards.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 02/11/2021 00:17

Damn! I missed it on Sunday night!

Please, someone give me a synopsis, in case i missed something good!
