Old thread filled, hope nobody minds!

It looks fun and you are in good company. I remember a few years ago when Ian Midlane (Al, but I bet you knew that already!) won an award- best comedy performance I think- he dedicated it to his dad and told people to go and see him performing at his am dram show!

EerilyDisembodied · 05/10/2021 22:07

@smallandimperfectlyformed

Hope your am dram class went well yesterday Willowkins. I agree with you about trying to cram too much into today's episode and actually it was a bit unfair to the daughter. Caring for an adult with dementia is hard and yes she shouldn't be shouting at him but it is such a frustrating situation. Carers have it so tough, I'd rather a bit more focus on that if they want to do serious issues. I had a quick look at Digital Spy earlier, they had the same views as us about yesterday's storyline (and the rainbow one too)! The Twitter comments were similar as well
FB yesterday was not in agreement with us, the one or two negative comments were treated with scorn. I don't like that page, you can't say anything remotely critical without being told you are a nasty piece of work. Even if you just say it was boring that day.

Today - fake bump alert. Neighbour seemed to forget she was in labour once she got talking to Ashley and daughter. Daughter didn't look much younger than Ashley. Also, I know there's only two beds in St Phils, but surely a wandering dementia patient wouldn't be able to get into the maternity ward, the doors are always locked IIRC.

I actually find Jimmi's attitude to Al a bit annoying at times. When Al got Jimmi out of prison with the help of Emma, Daniel and Val, Jimmi was quite cruel to Al. He was very dismissive of him and went off to stay with Julia - I often feel like Jimmi thinks he is quite superior to Al. I know a while ago though Al was going through a really nasty stage and I didn't like that, especially when he made Tash cry. I want more comedy moments! And they really need to explain what happened to Rob because that is annoying me.
Agreed, the way he treated Al was awful after all he did for him and now there is always such an undercurrent of disdain from Jimmy towards him.

I hope that the writers, editors and producers etc have a look at the comments on forums like here and Digital Spy etc (haven't seen their comments there yet, don't normally visit that site) and see that they are actually turning off their viewers.
I am close to turning off, after the rainbow flag lecture and the trans thing today I’ve had enough, I was so irritated when Ollie showed his mum pictures of boys riding bikes, wanting to ride bikes as a girl does not mean you are really a man FFS! Sick of it.
KilledByWitches · 06/10/2021 13:47

Afternoon.
Sulky Sid returns then. Is he not a bit old to be moping around over a parents divorce?

LIZS · 06/10/2021 14:06

Rob is plain nasty

Hdhdjejdj · 06/10/2021 14:06

Another woman getting hammered for not caring for her elderly parent. It’s always daughters, never sons.

KilledByWitches · 06/10/2021 14:07

Lets be honest, if this were real Karen would have either put him under the patio or divorced him by now.

I haven't ever been brave enough to go on the Facebook page! I'm quite intrigued by this story line with the woman ripping off the man, she doesn't seem like an awful person. Also interested in Rob and Sid together

smallandimperfectlyformed · 06/10/2021 14:08

I think there's actually an element of misogyny coming from the writers at the moment.
smallandimperfectlyformed · 06/10/2021 14:16

Good for Karen. I hope she moves out and leaves miserable Sergeant Hollins to himself

Hdhdjejdj · 06/10/2021 14:25

@smallandimperfectlyformed I’ve only dipped into it and I got the same sense. It’s disappointing.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 06/10/2021 14:33

Considering their base audience is likely to be women (like most soaps) they really need to watch it, if it continues a lot of people will switch off.

JustDanceAddict · 06/10/2021 17:49

Just watching now. Don’t feel bad about the cyst, Sid. I had the same thing happen to me as a patient, a quick ‘ouch!!!’ Solved the issue!!

Willowkins · 06/10/2021 17:51

I just watched it. Darn it I miss my Dad Sad
I'm buying a new car (or trying to) and this reminded me of my Dad going with me to make sure I got a good one. Or the time my house flooded and I rang Dad and he told me to turn the stopcock off and ring a plumber. I still have the mole grips he gave me (30+ years ago!), saying this was the most useful tool I would ever own.

Just having a moment here.

TDogsInHats · 06/10/2021 18:07

Hello 👋 and thanks for the new thread.
I'm nearly caught up, just today's episode to watch now.
I saw "small bears" tooGrin

TDogsInHats · 06/10/2021 18:12

I googled the actor who played Olly.
He is a female to male transsexual, married to a male to female transsexual. They have a little baby and I did wonder how, in the physical sense. No offence meant, added this cos you never know what is acceptable to say/think.

Raahh · 06/10/2021 18:26

Oh- I remember them now! I knew I recognised him from somewhere. TDog

The actor' s wife was in the army iirc, and they featured in an episode of a show called the Posh Frock Shop- which sells wedding dresses, mainly.

Raahh · 06/10/2021 18:29

Ian Stuart was the designer- dd1 and I went through a phase of watching loads of 'Say Yes to the Dress' episodes around that timeGrin- and this series was on at the same time.

Raahh · 06/10/2021 18:36

TDog Google tells me that the Graf's baby was born via surrogate, last year.

Raahh · 06/10/2021 18:46

I haven't watched today's episode yet. I have a list of things to catch up on actually- I don't seem to have time (and I don't know why Grin).

smallandimperfectlyformed · 06/10/2021 18:57

Sorry about your dad Willowkins it's a hard loss no matter how long ago it was (mine died 21 years ago and I am sad he never saw me graduate, get married, have kids etc). Tomorrow's episode better not be any LGBT or dementia stuff, there are other issues in the world! Looking forward to more of Bear and his mum.

My neighbour had an Ian Stuart wedding dress, it looked like a vengeful ex had been at it with shears, this is it

smallandimperfectlyformed · 06/10/2021 19:21

That is a horrible wedding dress. You're totally right about it looking like an ex has gone for it!!
