Who is your favourite characters in Succession. I thought this was one of the best shows I have seen in ages, can't wait for new season which will be out soon. Lots of great characters in it. Greg, Tom, Roman. Love to hear your take on it..

And I agree about Brian Cox. The power in that room when he was delivering THAT speech. It was theatrical. You couldn’t hear a pin drop.

MarshaBradyo · 13/12/2021 22:53

I know it was insane

Still thinking about it

Just the power of it

MintyCedric · 13/12/2021 23:55

I'm about to have a second watch.

Did anyone else pick up on Shiv saying something about 'putting a hold on the divorce' when the sibs were one their way to see Logan and she was on the phone to Tom?

hamstersarse · 14/12/2021 00:29

It was bloody brilliant but was anyone else screaming at them to call the mother when they were in the car and secure her on their side?

Even without Tom, Logan would have at least covered that base, he is always expecting the worst and covering his arse ahead of everyone else

What a series though. Brilliant.

JustJustWhy · 14/12/2021 06:50

@LiterallyKnowsBest

Remind me of the doughnuts …

They were in S3, Ep2 - when the sibs held a secret council of war in Kendall’s daughter’s bedroom. During a break in negotiations Shiv phoned Tom with all the details. Later on Logan sent donuts for them. They were properly spooked - though I’d thought it was obvious Tom was the sneak on that occasion.

Con stop looking at the fucking doughnuts man
idiotfacelicker · 14/12/2021 06:54

Thanks for the doughnuts reminder. I remember now.

I loved the way Tom had that whole convo with Greg which resulted in him agreeing to be Tom's 'Greg-weiler' without him having a single clue what any of it meant. Turns out Tom is the most Machiavellian of them all!

MarshaBradyo · 14/12/2021 07:16

I had assumed Tom did it due to siblings making a move

But reading this that’s not right

Think I missed something

Or was it more that he’d only do that talk if it was Logan’s move

LiterallyKnowsBest · 14/12/2021 08:10

What I’ve found interesting, after reading about a dozen reviews, is that in general US reviewers go straight for the betrayal, making it central to the episode - the thing that was always coming - whereas some UK reviewers are a bit more circumspect: ‘it seems Tom must have …’.

JanisMoplin · 14/12/2021 08:17

Of course Tom got his own back. At last..Go Tom! Shiv's face when she realised...

Caroline is a real piece of work. Logan must have had to really throw money at her for her to betray her children. Bet Shiv feels sorry about her " What the hell, bitch? " wedding speech though.

The acting by Jeremy and Kieran in the scene where he confesses to killing the waiter was just sublime.. So moving and funny.

JanisMoplin · 14/12/2021 08:20

Oh and did Roman think Geri would be grateful for his dick pics? She is the real girl boss.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 14/12/2021 08:33

They wrong-footed me over Greg, though. All through the second half of the season I’d been waiting for a fairytale resolution of his disinheritance story - grandfatherly forgiveness and a sigh of relief - because I didn’t take it seriously enough.

Whereas, in fact, losing his inheritance was what forced Greg to suddenly realise he’d need to actively look after himself. No more dithering. Identify the prize and go after it. I guess there’s no law that says ruthless ambition has to be elegant, or even hidden.

But I missed Granper Ewan - he’s so much fun.

My favourite but of that whole convo was "you can have your own Greg" 😆😆😆

Hardly had to throw much at her at all to betray her kids, she couldn't care less about them. Her onion speech to Shiv and abandonment of Kendall when he just wanted to talk to her said it all. Her primary focus was on pleasing her new husband and getting him the flat he always coveted. She even said so on the phone call.
YouGotThisKeepGoing · 14/12/2021 09:00

Tom was only ever interested in Shiv as a leg up the corporate ladder.

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 14/12/2021 09:00

@idiotfacelicker

I only just got the joke 😆

I don’t agree. When she hurts him, he is really, really hurt. Repeatedly. I think he does love her, he’s just also in awe of Logan and wants to be a Roy

idiotfacelicker · 14/12/2021 09:02

I disagree, I think he genuinely loved her , I don't think it was only about climbing the ladder. I think the awful sex role play last episode was the final push too far for him (of course they've been sowing the seeds all season, and beyond, arguable since the yacht episode in season 2)

idiotfacelicker · 14/12/2021 09:03

For Greg and Tom bromance fans...

I agree Tom loved Shiv

But not really in return

What have I missed that means I thought he was backing siblings not Logan?

Was there a line giving it away or that he turned up?

idiotfacelicker · 14/12/2021 09:20

The convo with Greg (including the Sporos reference) coupled with the pat on the back from Logan (plus Tom was the only person outside the siblings that they told of their plan).

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 14/12/2021 09:22

@MarshaBradyo

I knew he was going to back Logan, because of his face during the call with shiv and then his deliberately vague details to Greg. I just knew. I would love to think he had been planning it all season but I think it was probably just him seizing the moment, with him having thought about it a fair bit previously.

Shiv has been so, so awful this season

Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 14/12/2021 09:22

@idiotfacelicker

Yes - the sporus reference! Which I missed actually but read in the online recap!

idiotfacelicker · 14/12/2021 09:24

Also when Tom asked will you make a deal with the devil, it looked like he meant himself, but of course the devil in question was Logan.

MarshaBradyo · 14/12/2021 09:24

Ok thanks

I had assumed Logan was one step ahead rather than Tom telling him

I’ll be watching again at some point and will look out for it all
