Who is your favourite characters in Succession. I thought this was one of the best shows I have seen in ages, can't wait for new season which will be out soon. Lots of great characters in it. Greg, Tom, Roman. Love to hear your take on it..

The sad thing is we must be near the end

I think this is the best written and acted thing I’ve seen

MargotMoon · 08/12/2021 13:28

@idiotfacelicker

Misogyny more like.

Yes, absolutely - misogyny and hypocrisy!

MargotMoon · 08/12/2021 13:31

@Crackingowlsanctuary Completely agree about Kendall - sympathy also wanes when you see how he treats his own kids, he is replicating his own childhood and doesn't have the self-awareness to break the cycle and put their needs above his own. He must have been a nightmare dad and husband when he was a fully-fledged coke addict and you don't see him making any attempt to make it up to his kids, despite the fact they are probably the only people in the world who love him unconditionally. It's so sad

Wow that episode was brutal in so many ways. They are all damaged and dangerous people. The writing and acting is sublime and the numerous Emmy nominations are so so well deserved but unfortunate that so many of them are up against each other in the various categories.

'I did enjoy his WTFness about the concept of dick pics. If only more men had to explain themselves to Logan Roy!'

Yes, agree! And Roman's pathetic response when Logan asked WTF he thought he was doing - shrug, snivel, 'dunno', another shrug. Wonder if it was the writer making a point about how utterly pathetic dick pic senders are

The pasta scene with Logan and Kendall was Succession at it's very best - tense, edge of your seat, grim, nasty, brilliantly acted. I wish we saw more scenes with those two

Agree that Sarah Snook looks amazing whatever she wears. Absolutely gorgeous curves, and she has the most perfectly hooded eyes I've ever seen!

This week's episode made me feel like I'd been swimming around in a sewer. In an enjoyable way though 😁

The explaining dick pic scene was brilliant. Kieran Culkin is an amazing actor. I just want to have a bath every time he appears on the screen.

I honestly can’t comment on Sarah Snook’s wardrobe - as I’ve never seen any of it. I’m only judging the wardrobe designed for Shiv.

Weirdly she’s one of the few people who actually looks better in evening wear (a section of clothing I generally despise). The gown she wore to the journalist’s awards thing was jaw-droppingly lovely, and the green birthday party dress and perfectly chosen gold necklace were gorgeous. It’s her daywear I take exception to.

I missed Naomi this week - her clothes could make me weep with covetous longing.

MintyCedric · 08/12/2021 15:16

Has anyone else noticed there's a poster on MN called Wokahontas Grin?

Oh sorry, I meant Sarah Snook IN THE SHOW

Geri looks amazing too. Excellent burgundy dress this week. And loved Willa's green dress and strappy gold trainers

Disappointed that there's been almost no Marcia this season. She was at the garden party but had no lines 😣

Lottapianos · 08/12/2021 15:25

'Kieran Culkin is an amazing actor. I just want to have a bath every time he appears on the screen.'

He's such a repulsive little shit. Roman, not Kieran! The NERVE of him harassing Geri with 'the items' 🤢

LiterallyKnowsBest · 08/12/2021 15:34

Yes! That must have been annoying for the actor.

Agree Gerri’s burgundy dress was great. And I do love her messy up-does! Shiv’s strictly ironed bob is such a strongly contrasted indicator of a character determined to be in control of everything.

What’s the name of Other Comfrey? Berry! There was a black leather evening dress she wore a couple weeks ago. I’m still gasping. StarStarStar

(Sorry, slow, meant Marcia actor.)

LoganRoy · 08/12/2021 18:39

Yes I always miss Marcia. I did enjoy this meme for current events, Kieran Culkin’s facial expressions were wonderful in that bit.

I'm missing Marcia too. Loved it when she came back with her Divorce Lawyer From Hell. Grin

idiotfacelicker · 08/12/2021 19:03

I've just remembered, I loved that line from the mum about how Peter buys his own furniture. So British posho.

TiddleTaddleTat · 08/12/2021 19:05

I really have to watch this episode again. Each one is so rich and multilayered

MargotMoon · 08/12/2021 19:56

"He's not posh. His father's a Doctor." SO snobby and perfect

"He's not posh. His father's a Doctor." SO snobby and perfect'

YES to all of this. Perfect and so enjoyable. There are SO MANY lovely throwaway lines like these all the way through every episode

JustJustWhy · 09/12/2021 06:32

Also said by Michael Jopling about Michael Heseltine and then re-quoted by Alan Clark. "The trouble with Michael is that he had to buy all his furniture".

MarshaBradyo · 09/12/2021 06:35

I have a confession those lines were the only ones that jarred for me

I felt like the posh / furniture angle was hackneyed as it’s a go to

Felt less convincing than rest of the episode which was excellent

LiterallyKnowsBest · 09/12/2021 07:13

Ah - I felt the same, MarshaBradyo! But then reasoned that they were communicated to an American, and that much of the audience will also be American - so it might seem like a fresh observation to them.

I’d imagine Harriet Walter might hesitate to present the words to a purely English audience. (Though that’s purely my speculation.)

idiotfacelicker · 09/12/2021 07:29

I assumed it was tongue in cheek, like much of the dialogue.

MarshaBradyo · 09/12/2021 07:32

I agree re American audience

It felt like something people always land on posh British in movies etc whereas every other line feels fresh and considered

MargotMoon · 09/12/2021 07:33

I think the writers draw from real life as much as possible. Lots of viewers won't know that quote (I didn't, even though I'm fully aware of who Michael Heseltine is and have read Alan Clark's diaries in the dim and distant past)

IntermittentParps · 09/12/2021 08:57

I am a Brit and know the old 'rule of thumb' about people who have to buy their own furniture and a doctor being considered not posh. I still snorted at the lines. Grin
But I do agree there's probably an element of them communicating to an American character and audience, and that Caroline may well have been being a bit arch and tongue in cheek too.
