Who is your favourite characters in Succession. I thought this was one of the best shows I have seen in ages, can't wait for new season which will be out soon. Lots of great characters in it. Greg, Tom, Roman. Love to hear your take on it..

Also if there’s no downtime, when are Roman and Gerri going to get together?!

Glad it's not just me thinking that!

Anyway, just Google and found this Succession 3: Behind the Scenes in Italy.

Looks like Gerri's in PJ's in one of the pics so fingers crossed our shipping might be rewarded soon!

It’s interesting that Logan’s health has been a feature of the last 2 episodes because in the first few I felt he was way more active than in the previous 2 seasons, striding around everywhere with purpose and renewed vigour.

Yes, I was quite shocked when he was shown as frail and unwell again, and with something as unglamorous as a UTI.

This episode was so tense and claustrophobic. Gerri and poor Frank desperately filling on stage. Everyone pacing around the 'holding room'.
Roman on the phone to the PM was gorgeous; he is coming into his own. Conor's manouvering (sp?) is fascinating, although I can't quite work out what he wants or why.
Why is Logan being so vile to Shiv? Does he feel she's genuinely making bad decisions and letting him/the company down? Or does he just always need someone to kick and at the moment it's her? I'm not sure he should be getting on her bad side; I know he's her dad, but I still think it's unwise to piss Shiv off too much.

The whole Greg thing is a very slow burner. Is Kendall going to 'burn' him? Is he still in possession of the Cruises papers? Where is his ongoing contretemps with his grandfather going?

There were many more after that, but they are so quick fire - you could easily miss loads I agree. I almost want to watch it again with the subtitles on. Best line (that I heard, anyway): 'a gang of crapulous shills' Grin

@Bouledeneige

I'm missing the variety of settings in season 1 and 2. Like the wedding in Scotland, the cold mother, the crash - it was more layered.

My fave characters are probably Tom and Greg. But I do like them all - Roman is so sleazy and Roy so nervily desperate. Shiv so ambitious. And Logan is amazing and cruel.

We're probably not getting as many different locations because of covid regulations when filming

@IntermittentParps

He needs a real life serious job, or job experience to give him credibility when he runs for president again. He's been quite rightly accused of having 'no real life experience'

MareofBeasttown · 16/11/2021 12:31

"The fucking Hercule Poirot of piss" :)

Loved the way Shiv sneakily negotiated herself a board seat and jealous Tom sneakily tried to ground her with a baby. And Kendall sneakily trying to grab his 15 minutes but nobody cared.

I can never understand why Geri and Frank don't just quit. Working for Waystar Royco must be the worst job in the world.

I agree this series is very much rooms within rooms. Must be because of Covid.

Ah, OK, had slightly missed that. And his way is now a bit clearer because the current Pres isn't running again, yes?

I have a feeling Shiv will not actually get that board seat.

Geri and Frank are tough cookies. While working for Waystar Royco may well be the worst job in the world in some ways, I'd imagine they're paid very well, and their status must be high.
One of the great things about this show is how EVERYONE is out to feather their own nest, in one way or another.

MareofBeasttown · 16/11/2021 12:36

Oh yes, Shiv isn't going to get the board seat. Likely going to Karl or some other loyal minion.

They're paid an absolute fortune!
MintyCedric · 16/11/2021 15:14

I can understand why Gerri stays...not so much Karl and Frank.

They've all been with the family forever but only Gerri seems to command their respect, she's well paid, travels extensively mostly by private jet or first class and tbh there's no small amount of satisfaction to be gained in knowing you can really hold your own with difficult bastards!

IntermittentParps · 16/11/2021 15:29

Yes, I get serious 'professional pride' vibes from Gerri. I love her more and more.

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 16/11/2021 15:39

Well, I won’t gainsay professional pride - but might it not equally be that Frank and Gerri are addicted to the adrenalin rush of high stakes business life?

I mean, how many times has Frank been fired and brought himself back? And where else would they get that sort of excitement?

Yes, that too! I'd imagine it is quite addictive if you're that sort of person.

I want the last episode of this series to be Geri taking over from Logan after some clever manouvering and appointing Roman to massage her feet and shave her legs, the arrogant little fuck.

Grin

I have started wondering where this ends. Kendall seems to be a busted flush. Logan is stamping on Shiv's every move. Conor is dead in the water. Roman is smart but do people take him seriously enough? Dramatically I'm not sure they'd write a story where a non-family member takes over at the top; it wouldn't be a proper succession then.
So I don't know where it goes. Does Logan, after pushing every one of his family away, end up still on top but with the shadow of ill-health/death looming? And the succession question still not settled?

I believe there's another series to come after this one, so there's clearly still a lot to happen!

EdmontinaDonsAutumnalHues · 16/11/2021 16:18

Ohhhhh … Just read the Stuart Heritage piece in today’s Guardian. I’ll link - but with the warning that, although there are no actual spoilers, he is surmising with the benefit of having seen a few more episodes than we have. And the title of the article might take your thoughts in a direction they haven’t yet been.

Here you go.

IntermittentParps · 16/11/2021 16:25

Oooh! I'm going to avoid that, actually. I want to come to it all fresh. Tempting though it is...

MargotMoon · 16/11/2021 16:44

Definitely not reading that!!

MintyCedric · 16/11/2021 16:53

Well I caved...I have no willpower...and am none the wiser.

If I was the main writer if I think I might go for Tom completely losing his shit...accidentally killing Shiv (or thinking he has) then with nothing left to lose, taking Greg out and jumping off the top of Waystar Towers.

Season ends with Logan getting the news and apparently having a heart attack.

Honestly so long as Gerri and Roman are staying I'm fine with whatever happens though. I'd love to see them team up and take over ultimately, but do it in a very sly way so no-one realises wtf is happening until its a fait accompli.

IntermittentParps · 16/11/2021 16:59

Good lord Grin I love it. But would he kill Greg? I think there is a lot of homoerotic energy between them...

MargotMoon · 16/11/2021 17:00

"That is an imaginary cat, now would you please fuck off?" Grin

JustJustWhy · 16/11/2021 17:05

@LoganRoy

I don’t mind the lack of locations but I have to agree each episode has been a bit samey in the constant fire-fighting. Also if there’s no downtime, when are Roman and Gerri going to get together?! Wink Grin

Oh I'd hate this! Far too mainstream and totally against the grain of Succession!

Okay...Shiv walks in on Tom and Greg having an encounter. Huge row ensues, Tom accidentally kills Shiv, tops himself...circumstances very shady and Greg is the only one who knows what really happened...
Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 16/11/2021 17:31

My hope is that they are purposefully slow burning gerri and Roman because they will end up actually sleeping together

MintyCedric · 16/11/2021 17:35

Also...did we ever find out what went on between Logan and his sister Rose?

It came up when they went to Scotland and he mentioned her when he was delirious...there's got to be more to that to come out
