The series that I can't stop watching even though the storylines are literally incredible. Anyone else clocked Olly for the new lab male totty? How can they possibly manage without Clarissa or someone else in her job?

Has the writing team forgotten all about her US Ambassador love interest? He's not been mentioned yet, has he?

I thought they split up at the end of the last series but I can't remember any details, it's just a vague memory. I think Nicky has mentioned him once in passing this series.

I was thinking about this. I'm guessing this is set months/years after the previous series, and she would have already talked to her colleagues about the split, so wouldn't mention it anymore. I'm wondering if a future case will involved him and they'd have to see each other again and where there will be much sniping and bickering before agreeing it was for the best....

Hmmm... Google is inconclusive and implies it's not over (or rather nothing confirms that it is over). Nothing mentions them splitting up so I must have misremembered.

Why on earth did the detective ring Joanna/Sally to alert her when they had a tracking device on her and could have just followed her covertly? I guess we wouldn't have had Jack being the all action hero at the end then though!

And re the American boyfriend Matthew I think Nikki rang him in the prison episode when she was freaking out but went straight to answerphone.

I hope Jack and Nikki don't get together. I was always firmly Harry and Nikki and I don't think anyone can hold a candle to old Haz. Do like Jack though, not sure why, ended up having a dream about him the other night Grin

  1. Clarissa left at the end of the last season. I think just for a "new challenge" or something vague.

  2. we've discussed this on this thread and no one is sure if she's still with him or of they split up at the end of the last season. Even Google hasn't helped. I thought they split up but can't find any proof. She mentioned him in passing on the first week of this series I think.

There’s obviously going to be some romantic shenanigans between Nicky and Jack afoot, so it will surely have to be cleared up?

You might have to narrow that down for us. Thomas, Leo or Harry? (Although Harry was a bit younger.)

I think Thomas is the guy you're thinking of. He died in the last season when he get poisoned by a nerve agent.

To be fair, the ambiguity over the American boyfriend is the most real life thing on the show!
How many threads do you see on here about long distance relationships fizzling out but neither really knowing where they stand?
Nikki should ask MN what she should do.

I couldn't stand Amanda Burton's smirk, not Harry's strangely aggressive public school posturing and foppishness. I like Jack although I definitely prefer him covered in blood from MMA or whatever it is. He's clearly fancied Nikki from the off, though the scriptwriters (such as they are) were wise to hold off until now. It's telegraphed every episode that he's gonna hoist her atop one of the stainless steel surfaces any minute, the lucky girl.
I think the last truly decent series was the one with the snipers - survivalist bloke and psycho kid. That was prob three or four series back.

Anyone watch last nights? Felt a bit Holby City/Casualtyesque at the start. I am not liking the new coroner, but maybe his back story will endear him to us.

I have to say not sure about this. Finding the lack of Clarissa & Thomas too jarring. Too much of Nikki. Not sure about Adam. What on earth was he thinking by not disclosing his relationship with Dr Braithwaite!

No but I had guessed who it was but new character killed off a bit too quick. For me the whole thing is just too Nikki heavy.
