The series that I can't stop watching even though the storylines are literally incredible. Anyone else clocked Olly for the new lab male totty? How can they possibly manage without Clarissa or someone else in her job?

I've just started the first ep, & got to the part where the prisoner with the long hair has caused injuries to himself & now his (female) visitor is all "OMG what have they done to you" & he's (pretendy sob) "Jay's dead, I'm on my own now".

That's it for me!

I used to love SW but gave up after she was buried alive but then managed to escape or was rescued I can't remember which. Sounds like the story lines are still incredible

Did Nikki save the prisoner? Did the other prisoner's mum go to jail as effectively it was man slaughter? So confused but then I drifted off part way through. Keep saying I will sack it off but will probably watch again next week.

Why is the Lyle always so empty? I feel like surely they asking to be attacked in there as they let anyone in and never any other staff around. How they manage without a reeptionist, admin, cleaners and assistant pathologists is amazing!!

There was a brief montage at the end that showed the prisoner alive (so Nikki must have saved him) and Jay’s mum (Dionne?) making a phone call from prison.

I watched from the start - I love spotting people playing different characters, like the prison governor from this weeks episodes.

I've been watching old episodes of The Bill. It's interesting to see some people playing several different parts, and you can tell which actors are regarded as stereotype villains as they never seem to play anything else. Also they obviously used to try out some of the people who later became part if the main cast in minor roles, so it's quite confusing seeing someone you remember as a cop suddenly turning up as a villain, witness or victim.

It's also confusing when someone who subsequently became famous appears. If I see a recognisable face in a series like this I assume it's going to be significant on the assumption that they wouldn't have employed them otherwise, but often it isn't. The most recent one in my watching to date was Keira Knightley, looking very young indeed.

I loved it! I thought the character development was brilliant. I’m having a go at Cracker now but it has very similar implausible storylines like Silent Witness.

I thought Jack looked different too, assumed it was just a little lockdown weight gain making his face look different.

If David Caves has had work done then at least he can still pull of 'Jack's Suspicious Face' whenever he senses Nikki is going to make everything about Nikki, again.

I remember a good silent witness episode when I was younger where a hearse was involved in a car crash and the coffin split open, revealing two corpses which was how they discovered a series of murders.

Don't forget Ralph Fiennes! He played the boyfriend of one of the victims. I have the series on DVD - superb television.

These two episodes were filmed in the A Wing of Gloucester Prison. It was actually deemed "Not fit for purpose" and closed in 2017. It is a Truely Horrible place.

Interesting that the prison is still there an usable. It seems surprising that they haven't chosen to renovate it given the shortage of prison spaces.

I just watched the first university shooting episode on iPlayer while poorly DD naps on me - I only started watching SW a couple of years after this one aired. It was so scary!!

And so much better too! It's still far fetched, but not on a ridiculous level like the most recent series have been.

@Droite Gloucester Prison is used for location filming and some sort of Zombie paintball thing. It's a listed structure so it cant be demolished. But it's in a really bad location security wise and it is absolutely horrible. Dark, damp, badly ventilated and falling to bits. Absolutely inhumane conditions. There are bodies of people who were sentenced to death buried in random places all over the site. It's grim.

I've just watched the second episode in the Prison and it was pretty ridiculous. I have a bit of a girl crush on Emilia Fox. I know she's not the best actress in the world but her hair always looks fabulous and I would love Dr Nikkis wardrobe. She wears some gorgeous outfits in SW.

This is true. But I always find myself wondering how she always manages to have new outfits every 10 minutes and intricately dressed hair: for example the very neat French plait-type do when she was running - that’s quite a labour-intensive hairdo (it is for me anyway) and doesn’t strike me as something you’d just chuck together when you’re just out for a jog in your grotty sweats. And then the elegantly coiffed bun with all the little fronds all tucked in, which she wears for an autopsy. 😂
It’s all a bit daft.

The show would be better if they replaced her, sorry Emilia, times up.

I've been watching SW from the beginning ión iplayer & just got o the first appearance of Nikki.

OMG I'd forgotten how annoying!

She's moved stuff in without permission & left detritus everywhere!

Not sure if it's supposed to be zany, endearing, to show how obssessive/absorbed she is over work, but fuck me it's annoying!

I've always found SW quite amusing but I agree with pp about Jack, I really miss Clarissa and Thomas, and I can't watch with DH because he is a police officer and he keeps shouting about appalling errors they are all making. And also how nobody seems to stick to their actual job.
It's extremely far fetched but I still like it.

I loved the Amanda Burton ones and like pp gave up when Nikki survived being buried alive.

Don't know if I'll watch this series - can't imagine it without Clarissa and Thomas.

I have stuck with it through thick and thin, but found the first story of this series really unwatchable. Losing Thomas and Clarissa at the same time will be a huge blow. Clarissa in particular will be a hard character to follow.

I only managed a couple of episodes in the last series but thought I’d give this one a go. I was very silly! Managed the first episode but it’s dire. Those facial expressions. Ive deleted the series link and I feel free :)
