The series that I can't stop watching even though the storylines are literally incredible. Anyone else clocked Olly for the new lab male totty? How can they possibly manage without Clarissa or someone else in her job?

OP posts:

I never really enjoyed the Sam Ryan years either tbh, I only really got into it when she left.

Same. Found her smug and self-righteous in those episodes. It's a shame SW has gone down the completely ridiculous route.

KilledByWitches · 06/10/2021 15:21

Christ almighty you lot weren't wrong were you? This is seriously hard going.

FeedMeSantiago · 06/10/2021 15:42

The worst parts for me:

  • they had all day to evacuate the Lodge residents to the main house (and their meds, oxygen tank batteries etc.) but waited until the storm had hit and it was pitch black and perilous.
  • Nikki kissed Jack shortly after he'd vomited.
  • Nikki dressed up for the Hallowe'en party in what looked like a Mexican 'day of the dead' inspired outfit, despite that time she went to Mexico and got buried alive and was deeply traumatised by it.

We nearly stopped watching after Nikki was buried alive with the convenient phone with which she could communicate with Jack. Kind of wish we had stopped.

But did any of you notice that the care home matron was none other than Father Ted's Mrs Doyle. Cup of tea anyone?

I haven't been able to take her seriously for the last two hours. Expected her to break into 'Go on go on' at any point.
ZealAndArdour · 06/10/2021 16:15

It really is a joke this season. There’s too much happening and not enough focus on forensics or the actual tiny details that help them solve the case.

They’re all acting massively outside of progressional boundaries. I think Jack and Nikki would find themselves massively lacking in credibility in court if the defence ever found out they’d been investigating the crimes instead of just collecting evidence.

Also the forensic ecologist, I’m interested in her job role, but when she got those texts from the anon number, in real life the police would have immediately confiscated her phone as evidence. She would also jeopardise cases by having a relationship with an investigating officer.

In my real life i’m a nurse who once cared for a young patient who arrived in cardiac arrest after sustaining a head injury in state detention (on a MH section). My cousin a DI in the local police had to turn the case down and get it allocated to someone else in her dept because she recognised my name all over the care notes and knew that us being related could compromise the prosecution (if it went to court) if it got picked up by a diligent defence solicitor, as it could be alleged that we’d conferred.

Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on! Grin

Anyone know who played the sister in last nights, with the red curly hair and mile high stilettos? I can't find her on imdb and googling it just brings up the guy who played her brother and who played his sister when he was in Emmerdale. She just looks really familiar.

LetHimHaveIt · 06/10/2021 16:54

Her name is Bronwyn Jones. I only really know her from the theatre - she was absolutely excellent in 'Hangmen' - but she's had fairly big roles in 'Harlots' and Rob Lowe's 'Wild Bill' and was in 'Outlander' and 'The End of the **ing World'.

longtompot · 06/10/2021 17:16

Just looked her up (her surname is James) and I think I remember her from Call the Midwife, The Dig and Moving On. Thank you for helping me found out who she is.

Weedsorwishes · 06/10/2021 18:52

Anyone know when the next series is on?

LetHimHaveIt · 06/10/2021 19:00

Sorry; I meant Jones, and I thought that's what I put. I think she's excellent and was good last night in a bit of a nothing part. Also huge admiration for those heels.

LetHimHaveIt · 06/10/2021 19:01

James! JAMES! I now think it was autocorrect 😂

flippertyop · 06/10/2021 20:11

I thought that was shiela Hancock . They are really crap this series so far fetched very disappointed

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 06/10/2021 20:18

Those last 2 episodes were just so so crap that it was excruciating to watch. I really have to stop

Nikki kissing Jack after he'd recently vomited and she had then spoon fed him porridge was a lowlight. I can barely imagine a less enticing scenario
Also Nikki sleeping with the student. Just so gross and IRL something no senior Dr would do so lightly as it's GMC referral territory.

Heidipi · 06/10/2021 23:22

I came looking for a thread on SW to see if anyone else was as baffled as me! I used to look forward to a new series but this one is a catastrophe.

Taxi in the wee small hours from central London to “the countryside”in the middle of a storm that has brought the south of England to a halt? No problem! Major lols at Nikki arriving in a black cab in her anorak and wellies 🤣

Crazycakelady17 · 07/10/2021 05:50

What a load of rubbish poor old Bob the dog
What o want to know is Nicki went to student guys house in her costume but turned up to the relief place in a jumper trousers anorak and wellies did she go home first? Did she borrow students stuff
That was dire very dire

Weedsorwishes · 07/10/2021 08:25

I know, plus she woke up with the fancy dress makeup still perfect and then later on said she drank too much but still manages to look perfect without a hint of hangover, plus where did she get all her clothes from?

Plus jack got a taxi home easily whereas a few minutes earlier nikki had the army escorting her if I remember correctly, where did all the floodwater go in-between nikki arriving and Jack leaving!?

Rainbowsew · 07/10/2021 12:39

So the student wasn't a psycho - unless he comes back in future episodes Wink

But what the hell was that with Jack and stumbling through countryside then puking, then being fed porridge like an invalid then Nikki kissing him.

Oh and he just said don't worry about it to his new colleague who basically thought he might have murdered an old boy who he was helping!

Dad didn't die...
The nurse did but by accident.!?!
Why did they kill the dog!?!
So many questions...

I think pp was right when they suggested the local sixth form did work experience on it!

DrCoconut · 13/10/2021 18:23

See the other thread. We're being set up for a stalking storyline when Ollie takes being rejected badly. He's weird.

Have you got s link to the other thread please? Do you know when series 25 is out?
DrCoconut · 13/10/2021 19:07

@Weedsorwishes it was just my theory. No giveaways I'm afraid. I can try to find it again though.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/10/2021 21:14

Series 25 is coming early next year, I believe (from something I read last week). A pity that we've got the wait. Hoping the standard of scriptwriting improves though!

BaconAndAvocado · 14/10/2021 15:11

This series was truly awful.(but I still watched it all)
Good to know there'll be another so soon, let's hope it improves.
