The series that I can't stop watching even though the storylines are literally incredible. Anyone else clocked Olly for the new lab male totty? How can they possibly manage without Clarissa or someone else in her job?

OP posts:
Fenelladepompom · 05/10/2021 22:46

Nice of them to give the local 6th form drama dept the opportunity to write a script for a prime time show. Congrats to the poster who called Sian Phillips last night. I was sure she was going to blow the place up with her fag and O2 after Jack left though. Disappointing.

Clymene · 05/10/2021 23:08

What the hell was that slightly decrepit rehearsal studio at the top of the lodge about anyway?

Do they not have anyone who goes 'hang in a mo ...' at any point? That should definitely be a job

longtompot · 06/10/2021 00:01

Well, that was an episode of an Agatha Christie if ever I saw one. Gah!
But....Sam Ryan!! At last, a level headed coroner back! Or not, looks like she may be involved in a death.

JemimaTab · 06/10/2021 02:27

Given the Northern Ireland connection, what’s the betting Sam Ryan turns out to be Jack’s mum - or auntie, or sister, or something.
Ludicrous, obviously, and completely unbelievable, but given the standard of recent shows, I wouldn’t put it past them.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 06/10/2021 06:31

The standard of stories for Series 24 has been totally dire. Really difficult to keep up with the plotlines. And I've found it difficult to keep focus (which is very telling).

How exciting having Sam Ryan back, even if only for one story. I really want Harry back at some stage too. That could upset the applecart for Nikki and Jack!

Hallomother · 06/10/2021 08:31

I still can’t believe they introduced the shit student storyline JUST so It would be an obstacle for after they kissed. That was literally it. If he had had some involvement in the storyline then fair enough but what a waste of screen time.

I wish writers would see they don’t need to patronise their audience with relationship issues if a couple gets together - it’s lazy writing and we want more of the actual plots. If Jack and Nikki do get together I would prefer for it to be quietly ticking along in the background and the actual cases take the focus. But i know that won’t happen!

I would love it if Clarissa made an appearance for the 25th series as well. I still can’t believe how they were devastated about Adam and then he got two mentions next episode and that was it - I know he was new but come on.

Felt a lot was done for shock value this series without making much sense.

I don’t understand the love for Harry, I always thought he was a bit of a twat and I’d be pissed off if he came back.

Italiangreyhound · 06/10/2021 08:32

I know o googled it. Sian was Cassiopeia is Clash of the Titans 40 years ago!

Hallomother · 06/10/2021 08:33

Her and Sheila do look similar though in the right light!

Fenelladepompom · 06/10/2021 08:36

Sian Philips was married to Peter o'Toole.

MissMarpleRocks · 06/10/2021 08:39

I’m another eco hasn’t engaged with this series. Missing Clarissa badly. But Sam Ryan?? Bring it on!

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 06/10/2021 08:55

Oh Nikki. How disappointing

I’m glad “Daaaaddy” was ok. I think he’s my favourite character now. He’s the most realistic.

AnkleDeep · 06/10/2021 09:06

Can't wait for the next series now. I only started watching again because Clarissa was gone.

I really hope they don't bring her back.

HunkyPunk · 06/10/2021 09:25

Ever since someone mentioned Nikki walking like a puppet, I see it all the time now. It was particularly noticeable when she walked into the student event she was supposed to judge. A sort of scary illuminated Halloween puppet.

EmotionalSupportBear · 06/10/2021 09:56

they lifted the 'cadaver donated to medical students, but was actually murdered' straight from a Bones episode.

iloverainandrainbows · 06/10/2021 09:59

OMG I can't believe how shite those final episodes were. I found the whole storm part really laughable. Also, the fact they wouldn't have had an emergency evacuation plan for lodge residents or spare medication or batteries in that enormous main house is absolutely ridiculous. What was the weird pot smoking room and what was the relevance of Amrita and her back story? Or the brother and sister (Possibly couldn't follow the storyline properly here)? The Jack scenes were absolutely awful and clearly trying for David Caves as an actor. I found the student/Nikki relationship really really creepy too.

EmotionalSupportBear · 06/10/2021 10:01

tbh, i've only been watching for something to do.. i've been chronically disappointed in it since that episode a few years back where they decided to screen the custody officer buggering someone to death with his baton in the bathroom... i complained to the Beeb about that, totally unecessary.. and i wasn't the only one, the apologised for it.

Its seriously lost its way, but its alright as entertainment fluff. Think i'll stick to rewatching Bones on Amazon Prime.

Exactly, they had ALL DAY to evacuate the Lodge and get all their meds/batteries and shit up to the main house.
Fenelladepompom · 06/10/2021 11:50

I never watched in the Amanda Burton era. DH refuses to ever watch again.

JesusWearsPrada · 06/10/2021 12:15

What the unholy fuck have I just watched? There's a lot to unpack here and I'm only 2 minutes into Tuesday night's episode. Notable highlights include Nikki's see-through black dress that showed her knickers, the murdered dog, the Titanic-esque music performance in the dark (presumably sinking) care home, the most wooden actor in the history of the bbc in the form of "Lieutenant Jamie Gatley", the creepy student, the joint-smoking emphysema patient, Nikki's "indiscretion" with creepy student, Jack's one-nighter in the worlds smallest double bed post-Irish dancing date..(and she was punching) have I been ingesting some kind of hallucinagenic or has that all just really happened? I did like Jack's cardi though and I still fancy plastic jack. Perhaps slightly more now he's gone all cosy knits and dad bod.

JesusWearsPrada · 06/10/2021 12:18

Oh and does anyone else imagine it's Clarissa singing the opening theme tune? 😂

I've seen David Caves on stage and he was amazing, but he clearly gave up against the unequal struggle that was the 'script', here: bleating 'Caravan!' while wrapped in blankets and being spoonfed porridge - took me back to the Romanian orphanage episode of 'Challenge Anneka'.
MrsDThomas · 06/10/2021 13:28

@Fenelladepompom you need to watch Amanda Burton in it. You will realise how crap it is now.

Right, cracks knuckles I'm going in. Wish me luck.....

Fenelladepompom · 06/10/2021 14:22

Not keen on Amanda Burton these days. Always seens so smug and self righteous, whatever part she's playing. Liked her in Brookside though Grin.
