New thread for us to discuss all things Holby.

@DontWantTheRivalry the film you're thinking of is Fatal Attraction. An 80s classic.

Is there time for Donna and Dom to find true loves though? The HH one (if it pans out as intimated) is already 'brewing'?

Thanks - I’ve watched it about 50 times but I always forget it’s title. I keep wanting to say “sleeping with the enemy” but I stop myself because I know it’s not right Grin

What happened to Xav’s brother? Weren’t he and Donna developing feelings for each other but trying to his from them? I haven’t seen him in the show for ages though?

Maybe Sacha could be Dom’s “Happy ever after” Grin

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/01/2022 11:50

I am so happy to see Dom and Sacha back together as buddies doing their research.

Donna hasn't really been in it much recently, has she? Yes, I guess she does have Xav's brother as a 'brewing' love interest.

But maybe in the 21st Century we should expect more of the characters to realise they are happy 'flying solo' rather than in relationships? I think that would work well for Dom and possibly Donna too?

'Sleeping with the enemy' is another 80s classic. It's still on TV quite often whereas Fatal Attraction very rarely is. Mind you, I'd be put off watching the latter because of the bunny boiling :-(.

MyOtherProfile · 29/01/2022 12:46

@spiderlight

I did have a random thought last night - imagine if the BBC replaced Holby with a new medical drama called 'St James' Grin
This would be so funny. Could we pick who goes to work at St J? HH would need to go help run it, obvs
SleepingStandingUp · 29/01/2022 16:15

I think we need to revisit the flicker of a flame with Jeong and Dom. I do think there's something there.
Happy to just see Donna happy with her girls.
Jacs death with hurt Fletch already, I don't want him to be hurt more by a ash of what could have been if she'd told him earlier. Otherwise happy for her to die in his arms.
Sacha I'd like to see settled, I liked the foreign cleaner lady.
HH and whatshisface is massively controversial on FB so would be interesting to see the reaction. I'm happy of he's happy.
I want Nikki to get treatment for PND and do one of those miraculous 180s they do on soaps. Her fleeing, leaving behind her career and dumping Juliet not properly legalised would be crappy, sorry.

unvillage · 31/01/2022 23:38

I wonder if anyone will move over to Casualty. Donna is surely the top candidate, as someone with little else going on. HH and his nice new boyfriend will go off to retire somewhere warm and lovely, Fletch will take an inexplicably better job with inexplicably better pay at St James, Dom and Sasha have their roles as research besties already being set up. Ange and Josh, they're pretty much done, jobs at St James or elsewhere. Eli and Amelia is a story that's yet to happen with Nicki's baby, it'll all end in tears and someone will go to prison. Jeongsoo - there's got to be room for him in Casualty. I'd like that very much.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/02/2022 07:51

It would be good if there was some migration of characters over to Casualty.

SleepingStandingUp · 01/02/2022 17:38

It's the rl relocation that's the issue tho

TrashyPanda · 01/02/2022 22:45

I’m finding it hard to sympathise with Madge and her poverty. Given that entry level Directors of Nursing are on over £50k. She is hardly earning minimum wage. And all that crap in Pulses. She’d just brew herself a cuppa in the staff room.

Do the writers actually live on the same planet as the rest of us, where people are having to use food banks?

Ange and Josh and the wedding. Just shoot me now.

Eli clearly miffed that Nicki has far more talent than him. He spent the majority of time on screen glowering away with ominously lowered eyebrows. How dare a woman upstage him and his favourite, Josh.

WhatICallMyUsername · 02/02/2022 14:58

Last nights episode was 42/50 so not long to go now. The way it's gone so downhill recently I am not as arsed as I thought I might be about it ending Hmm

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 02/02/2022 15:08

Remember Madge appeared to have heavy bruising on her arms (when she changed uniform in the loos a couple of episodes back)? Maybe she's heavily in debt to loan sharks? Hence her apparent poverty. Although surely the banding system wouldn't make an impromptu pay rise possible? And even if she was given one, it wouldn't make a huge difference to her take-home pay?

So eight episodes left.

By the way whatever happened to Chloe? I vaguely recall that she left but don't really remember the circumstances?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 03/02/2022 22:42

Chloe went to Switzerland overnight, the way all those who work at Holby leave the job - no need for notice, someone offers you a job over the phone and you pop off with barely the need to let anyone know you’re leaving.

TrashyPanda · 03/02/2022 22:47

She’d probably had more than enough of the Ange and Josh circus.
I can sympathise.
Never has a relationship in Holby seemed so false/unrealistic

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/02/2022 07:57

Josh never seems that into Ange, does he?

I wonder which other 'blast from the past' characters are going to make guest appearances in the remaining eight episodes?

I am assuming that's why Jason was in it on Tuesday and Serena is hopping on a plane Grin
Chipstick10 · 04/02/2022 18:57

I watch classic Holby on Drama and honestly it was a cut above back in the day, same as Casualty, characters were interesting. Stories were watchable and sometimes quite thrilling. It’s actually crap now

Todays ep was great! Really good stunt work too. We started watching at the beginning of lockdown, and it was when Joseph and Sam first started. Current season is pretty crap, I agree.
foxlover47 · 06/02/2022 10:04

Gutted they are in the final furlong now :( I really prefer holby to casualty ..
I really would love to se HH happy in the end , he's always so hard on himself
Josh and Ange don't work for me , I always hoped fletch and Jac would get together , of course Amelia will want Juliette for herself and will Nikki save Jac ??

MyOtherProfile · 08/02/2022 20:59

I had forgotten how much I disliked Bernie. She's so wooden and has only one expression. And I can't stand how they totally change people from one episode to another. Max is a totally different person now - last ep she was one of the gang but for ages she was really hard nosed. HH falling for whatsisname and acting totally out of character. Perhaps that's what will happen - between now and the end everyone will just become someone else.

LazySaturday · 08/02/2022 21:09

I LOVED Serena and Bernie turning up tonight, they provided a bit of comic relief!!!
I wonder if Serena is going to fight for custody of Juliette?
Or maybe take both Nicky and Juliette back to their place in France and get them sorted out?
Also loved the little ❤️❤️ bits with Henrick
And the look the Jac give Fletch.
I'm seeing a bit of a Valentine's love in next week!

HalleLouja · 08/02/2022 21:34

I took it that the engagement was Bernie and Serena’s happy ending and we won’t see them again…. I do love Serena. She was such a force of nature.

Donna following the typical HR policy at Holby and just leaving at the end of her shift. I wonder if she will be back.

I am predicting Rick and Selfie will be back before the end. That’s not a spoiler just a punt.

Optimist1 · 08/02/2022 22:31

Everyone was so angry with everyone else tonight, apart from Bernie, Serena, HH and whatsisname. At this rate I'll be grateful for The End. 😡

Donna following the typical HR policy at Holby and just leaving at the end of her shift. I wonder if she will be back. To be fair Donna did say she had leave still to take (reasoning how she could just waltz off and not reappear to work her notice).

Agree that Jac is finally going to 'come to' and realise Fletch is the man for her! Surely her happiness (even if she is dying) is what we've all been punting for all these years?

TrashyPanda · 09/02/2022 11:42

Totally

WhatICallMyUsername · 09/02/2022 16:16

It does look like Serena and Bernie have gone off into the sunset doesn't it. I find it odd that Bernie would hear her granddaughter is being brought up by someone else and she doesn't follow it up more. Hopefully there's more to come as it wasn't left in a good way with Nicky

I wasn't sure if the point of Kylie's storyline last night. There seems to be loose ends to tie up and they are adding unnecessary stuff in

As soon as S&B said their wedding had been postponed I said to DH they'll be getting married in the gardens by the end then. Maybe it would have happened if they'd still had an hour to fill?!

I am not sure I care enough about the Madge storyline. I think it's because she hasn't been in it very long. I am thinking maybe her son being abusive rather than the obvious husband route

The Nicky storyline was a bit odd as well. Was she supposed to just let the patient die on the table when he went into VF? And why was the Director of Nursing at the meeting to decide the course of action? And Nicky wasn't even allowed to speak

I think after this little rant I won't be sorry when it's over, a lot annoyed me about last nights if you can't tell
