Why would Canada send Serena back to Gilead? They want to prosecute her for war crimes.

I'm sure if they ever ran low on handmaids new, spurious 'sins' would be invented. Smiled at a man, was ill and missed church, wasn't appropriately deferential to a Wife, etc. Or they would straight up lie, and say you were a rebel collaborator.

Am intrigued as to where they will go with this now. Hope we still get to see what's happening in Gilead.

Just found the new thread.

I was thinking this morning (while cleaning as you do) I wonder if they will show how Janine became a handmaid.

We know she had a child outside of marriage, she was raped and that she had an abortion. Did she get rounded up as an unmarried mother? As a woman who had an abortion? Was she groomed? Was the father of the other baby a son of Jacob?

I’m reading THMT for the first time and it really drives home just how far removed from the first series this series is. It’s making me not want to watch anymore but I will see it through to the end. We can’t have too many episodes left?

Also the book does make Luke out to be an unlikeable character- he comes across as domineering and condescending.

The writing is amazing and the screenplay is just how I picture it in my minds eye from when I first read it.

Janine was gang raped and was humiliated for it in the Red centre

@Twizbe I'm pretty sure the Sons of Jacob infiltrated health and government services, so they could see records to confirm which women were fertile and single mothers / not married to their child's father - perfect to be selected as handmaids.
