Why would Canada send Serena back to Gilead? They want to prosecute her for war crimes.

Does anyone know how or if the series was impacted by covid? Is that why we've seen a much smaller cast this time?

Yes. I read it in an article somewhere. We missed out on a lot of flashbacks with e.g. Nick and Moira with Oona. Janine's flashback had to be cut back, too. Beware, although this article contains no spoliers, the recommended articles might. I didn't get the idea that Tuello and Serena had a thing. I just thought he was trying anything to get her to defect.
That if she did then she could live a normal life and even have a baby at some point, even though she believed herself to be infertile.

I always thought it was nothing personal that he felt for Serena, he would tell her anything just to get her onside and dobbing in Fred and Gilead.

And, yes to not googling anything. I went to look up something from the book as a reminder and got a big ole spoiler a while back. It hasn't massively affected my watching though. I don't know the ins and outs. And when I'm talking on here I kind of forget to be honest.

Do you remember when Serena met Tuello in Canada before, he said that they had made advancements in fertility treatment and if she came with him she could have a baby.

I wonder if she did take him up on that offer ...

Tuello mentioning fertility treatment was part of the bribe to get Serena onside. He knows she has always been partly motivated by her desire for a baby, by whatever means. I would be really surprised if there was suddenly a flashback where Serena underwent 4-6 weeks of fertility treatment using donor sperm, while at the same time flouncing around her posh prison in her designer lounge wear.

There's no chance. Serena wasn't gone long when she went on that trip to meet Tuello and baby Nicole at the airport. You can't do fertility treatment in an afternoon.

She's still loyal to Gilead's teachings, she didn't have IVF (banned!), nor adulterous sex (stone her !). It's Fred's child.

Tuello's very job is to get inside her head and get her onside. This he did.

I think she got pregnant on the night where they gave into lust towards the end of the last series, before they got tricked into Canada

New to the thread - think June will be hunted down in Canada by the eyes. I’m sure it referenced in earlier series that they had agents in Canada

Exactly and that's why it makes it so unrealistic that she's living in Luke and Moira's house seemingly with no protection.

I also thought that the speech at the end was about June rather than Serena, with a warning to Luke.

I thought Serena said her lawyer told her June was there. And also Una said the aid missions had been suspended because of them bringing June back. Not sure how far the news has travelled back to Gilead though!

Hopefully we will be back in Gilead this week to see what's been going on

I'd love to see Aunt Lydia gnashing her teeth on finding out June is in Canada!

I wonder whether June will be set up here. She has no real evidence, only her ear tag and a traumatic story.

If Nicole is the Commanders then there is no case against Serena Joy. Fred is bright and strategic and if the baby is his then they could be a powerful couple in Gilead again. So, could the Waterfords join forces and play it to discredit June? She does have a long line of corpses and crazy behaviour behind her - could they spin the story to scapegoat June as a hysterical woman so they can get back to Gilead?

I hope Janine isn't back with Aunt Lydia. Didn't June tell Lydia that Janine hated her, or something similar? That will have affected Lydia's fondness for Janine.

I'm still wondering when they're going to take the ear tag off her, poor woman!!

Even if Fred is proved to be Nicole's father surely Serena is guilty of the same crimes? She held June down whilst Fred raped her during the ritual just as she was accused of doing to get Nick to impregnate June.

In terms of evidence there are the supporting testimonies of Moira, Emily and crucially Rita who was a Martha in the Waterford house. Oh and all the children that escaped on the angels flight.

I'd like to think it can't all be spun away by the Waterford's legal team?

Plus Rita. She lived in the Waterford’s house too and knew some of what went on.

Remember they already have Gilead survivors in Canada who have told of what was done to them. It won’t only be June who was held down to be raped.
