We have a fan heater which has a cool setting. Maybe you can get one of those because nobody will be buying heaters

It’s boiling here as well - I’ve got the week off but it’s too hot to do anything!

I ordered a neck fan the other day which is quite good for providing my own personal air con - DH says that I look like someone out of Star Trek but I don’t care!

When does the tennis at the Olympics start? I’m also still not convinced it will go ahead - hasn’t the organiser of the opening ceremony just been sacked? Feel really sorry for all the athletes involved

I watched the Naomi Osaka documentary on Netflix yesterday (on DS2’s recommendation ). It was quite interesting but she definitely seems like quite a troubled person - she never seems really happy or feels that she’s good enough

Dh has found his old fan/heater . For the the brief time of day dd2 is awake, I think she will be ok .

I am very glad I stopped dh wasting £40 on another fan .

In tennis news, Denis Shaggy has been beaten by a Czech I have never heard of. And Benoit seems to be having some sort of tennis epiphany- because has won more than one match in a row and plays Ruud next.

Quite a lot of tennis coming up really, with the Olympics, and various tournaments that are clashing with it. I am really looking forward to seeing Rafa back in action.

I am loving the heatwave - love being warm & not having to wear socks, gloves, jumpers etc.

They have just mentioned Naomi at the start of the coverage for the opening ceremony- but I can't help feeling sorry for Kei Nishikori.

I know that realistically, even if the event had gone ahead last year (and he was injured then anyway) his best years are behind him- but a home games have always been the big aim for Kei, and he was a big star at home. (I know he lives in Monte Carlo ) I feel he's been a bit forgotten , and I've grown to like Keith over the last couple of years. In his Bertie Bassett Uni Qlo kit.

Andrew Cotter is valiantly trying to commentate on the Olympics opening ceremony with Hazel Irvine, and make it interesting.

The website for the Olympics isn't great. It's taken me ages to find any details of the tennis schedule. It all starts 3am tomorrow, I think. Naomi is first up.

Poor Keith- he has Rublev in the first round- so his Olympic dream might not go far. There is a lot to be said for home advantage...except when there is no crowd, of course!
