I noticed that the last thread was full, so I hope no-one minds that I've started a new one!

To be honest, any spoilers wouldn't spoil at this stage because it's all got a bit silly.
When it started it was that unusual thing - a drama about ordinary women, pregnant, giving birth, having challenges, and midwives working to get the best for the women. They should have stuck to the generic 1950s, those tenement flats, the docks, the lives of women that rarely get written about or dramatised.
The single mum was a good storyline, but more emphasis needed to be on the shame of being an unwed mother, the stigma, the lack of choice. Also how rare it was for an ordinary girl to get into university.

Marking my place.

No link in the last thread but I'm hopeful that if anyone can't find us Dr Turner will guide them here.

The will

Dr T will have told everyone personally by now Grin

Maireas · 18/05/2021 07:54

I'm guessing that the spoiler is that NASA have called Dr Turner for medical advice on the moon programme?

Advice?

They want him to replace Neil Armstrong!!!!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/05/2021 07:57

Only the yay sisters will get mumps and poor auld Neil will have to step in last minute and always feel like he was last pick.

PurpleWh1teGreen · 18/05/2021 08:04

Yaay! A new thread. Grin

In which Timothy’s skeleton is revealed to be the young priest who everyone has forgotten about.
Lucille will continue to have storylines about tableware instead of actual clinical practice.
And (please god) Nancy will accidentally drop something on Miriam Margoles, thus rendering her permanently silent.

CaptainMyCaptain · 18/05/2021 08:08

In which Timothy’s skeleton is revealed to be the young priest who everyone has forgotten about.
Yes, what was the point of the curate? Did I miss something?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/05/2021 08:10

I want Nance to go after Dr T in revenge for Shelagh’s perma snark.

(She’s a cusack - she’s got the acting chops to look convincing...)

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/05/2021 08:11

It will silence Shelagh and it could well silence Dr T - depending on where she sits...

scrappydappydoo · 18/05/2021 08:37

Surely the point of the curate was to show that not even a man could talk around sister MJ
I am a little worried that Dr Turner might strain his head muscles from too much head tilting.

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 18/05/2021 08:38

The curate either is the skeleton or he's been held captive in the attic and will be used by young nun in her awakening.

I can't help feeling we are leading into something with her (cannot recall her name!!)

But she's all interested in non-nun life at the moment - first reading modern women's magazines, next role play with a curate imprisoned in an attic.

eggandonion · 18/05/2021 09:05

Is there going to be a big season finale, with hot priest in the attic? Sometimes series go on a little bit too long, but this has taken quite a good turn it's gone bonkers.

Lnix · 18/05/2021 09:19

Marking my place
Call the Turners in the title is just 🤣

HerMammy · 18/05/2021 09:22

@ContinuousMonotoneBeep
Could history repeat itself and Timothy and young nun run off together??

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 18/05/2021 09:38

@MyOtherProfile I sent you a PM and will send you one @ContinuousMonotoneBeep.

I think the priest arriving was just a storyline to monetise their spare rooms and a precursor to getting the pupil midwives lodging there!

NeonStones · 18/05/2021 09:38

I think the Curate was only there for a few nights while he waited to go to his new posting. Or SMJ killed him.

I can't remember if it was already shared here but I saw a thread on Twitter that Timothy's results were extra pointless because in the 60s you would get into medical school with an offer of Es if your dad was a doctor. Nepotism en masse!

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/05/2021 09:45

I’m telling ye - SMJ ate him.

Sister Lizzie Bathory.

How do you think she got her faith back?
Fact Grin

MajorMujer · 18/05/2021 09:47

Found you < parks arse and continues knitting teal jumper for Timothy >

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 18/05/2021 10:05

I’d knit him at shroud.

Dr T is going to take umbrage at Timothy outshining him and is going to recruit a yay ninja to finish him off.
