Couldn't see a thread yet.. maybe it's too early.. but needed to talk to people about Strictly with the news today that Zoe Ball and Ian Waite are leaving ITT!

Will Rylan take over full time? Who will become the resident dance expert?

Also, has anyone else seen the clips of AJ and Curtis on Hollyoaks? Grin I do wonder if he regrets quitting Strictly.. I'm
not sure acting is his forte.

Will it be a normal show this year, or still socially distanced etc? I hope they do have an audience this year.
( sorry , not read the whole thread etc)

I've wondered this too.

Studio audiences this year.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/09/2021 19:32

It's actually a better year to apply than usual, because they're allocating exact numbers so you don't have to queue.

JacquelineCarlyle · 04/09/2021 12:59

I've applied, but got a rejection for Sept 11th - hoping I'll get lucky with another date!

SequinsandStiIettos · 04/09/2021 21:21

Love seeing these two dance.
I would ask Vicky to make me trousers that swish like that/carwash type troos Grin to distract from my dodgy Latin.
They looked really good on Amy Purdy too

(Amy has two prosthetic legs from the knee down btw, she was insanely good throughout her season, the above was week 1 with limited training). I am listening to Dua Lipa's Love Again atm and choreoing Aljaz in chaps and a stetson in my head with a bit of line dance thrown in. You're welcome Wink
GlitterOnlySparklesInLight · 05/09/2021 18:53

I went to school with John whaite and he's bloody lovely. So genuine and everything You see is the real him. Haven't watched strictly before really but am going to be watching this year 😍

SequinsandStiIettos · 05/09/2021 19:03

Ah that's nice to hear. He's in my top four alongside Rose, Rob and Nina.

GlitterOnlySparklesInLight · 05/09/2021 19:20

Yes they're my top 4 too!! Can't wait!!

SequinsandStiIettos · 05/09/2021 20:25

Not long now - official start date is Saturday 18th: so a week on Saturday and gives me to chance to watch the rest of Lucifer first
Stick with us on this thread glitter, we are a chatty bunch but it's a lovely thread to come back to each week. Lots of knowledgeable posters, like 'polkadots* and then dweebs like me, who just like sleb tattle Grin
Anyone missing Bruno, DWTS starts on the 20th across the pond. Less excited about that one, despite Derek returning as a judge, simply because I know none of the rumoured contestants at all apart from the first same-sex partnership contestant, Jojo Siwa - and only cos DD used to have jojo bows from Claires! Grin

GlitterOnlySparklesInLight · 05/09/2021 20:49

Ah thanks I will do!! Have been a casual viewer in the past just watching it if it's on etc but looking forward to watching it this year

BaconAndAvocado · 06/09/2021 10:00

I always look forward to Strictly but I feel even more excited about this year.

For me, it heralds the beginning of the Christmas season(I am a Christmas nutter) and this Christmas is going to be a corker. (🤞🏻)

Loved these - thanks for posting!
SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/09/2021 18:54

The costumes on DWTS are much nicer than on Strictly . . .

SequinsandStiIettos · 07/09/2021 21:37

I absolutely wouldn't, nope, not even if it was Aljaz, but thought you lot might be interested as to how they have priced themselves on Cameo! Shirl's got a bob on herself, as my Mum would say - 105 of my English pounds?!? Jo Clifton on the other hand, hope she gets extra income for not being grabby.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/09/2021 13:25

I've just heard Tilly's little interview thing on Facebook and she sounds very nice.

Most exited about learning the waltz, which makes a nice change — hopefully she'll do lots of ballroom!

iklboo · 08/09/2021 17:23

Oooh bit of Vas on the lens there Shirl. So, what does that site actually offer?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/09/2021 17:52

You 'order' a video message. So your favourite celeb can say happy birthday or whatever.

2020in2020 · 08/09/2021 17:56

Just popping on to say how excited I am. I love these threads. Lurked for years and only started posting last year!

Just seen that Mel C is doing DWTS. Didn’t someone say she had previously said the Strictly money was crap? Guess the US pays a lot more!

iklboo · 08/09/2021 21:02

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams - Ooh thanks. DS's birthday is coming up. I might have a look who is the cheapest for someone he likes.

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/09/2021 21:38

Whose paying £125 for a video from AJ and his brother Grin

covetingthepreciousthings · 08/09/2021 21:39

I'm sooo excited for Strictly, more so than normal I'd say Glitterball

Didn't really have any expectations last year as it was just a relief to have some form of the show after the year we all had, but this year I think I'm holding out on it being amazing!

She said exactly that and I guess they do! Mel B did DWTS and did well on it, so I guess she has thought why not, especially as I cannot see Celeb Gogglebox as being particularly lucrative.

covetingthepreciousthings · 09/09/2021 07:45

Out of curiosity does anyone know the difference in pay scales between Strictly and DWTS?

Also, do all the celebs on strictly get the same amount or does it vary for bigger names?

OP posts:
SequinsandStiIettos · 09/09/2021 10:42

parade.com/1240167/paulettecohn/dancing-with-the-stars-salaries-celebrities-pro-partners/

UK pros 30K per series of 13 episodes but if long-standing 35k (but I have also seen figures of 50k per series long-standing 65k so pay may have gone up)
US pros $1,200 per episode but if returning, $5,000 per episode (series is usually 10 or 11 episodes but they often have results show on a consecutive night so 20?)

US celebs $125k flat rate then sliding scale up to $295k (used to be glitterball $345k in total)
contestants earned $10,000 for weeks 3 and 4, $20,000 for weeks 5 and 6, $30,000 for weeks 7 and 8, and $50,000 for weeks 9 and 10.

UK celebs 25k /past week 4 40k/QF 60k/SF 75k/glitterball 100k

So UK winner 100k
US winner 213k
