@Sssloou

Reckon Zabel’s engulfing DM will hunt down Mare
Exactly, I think she'll be kicked off the force for sure. And have to become a yoga teacher and ride off into Guy Pierce's sunset.
YoutubeZoom · 18/05/2021 09:04

I hope Mare ensures that everyone knows Zabel did something great, ie. saved the girls. She will need that shrink more than ever.

Bumzoo · 18/05/2021 09:39

I hope Billy isn't DJ's dad, they made that really obvious that he was acting suspicious.

I think Mare will get her job back after finding the girls.

banivani · 18/05/2021 09:43

She was policing while suspended though, and had no weapon to back her partner up which got him killed (not my logic, but it'll def be Zabel's mother's logic). So I think that she'd be lucky to avoid worse than losing her job.

Plus with the planting of the heroin and attacking a man with dementia in his own home, she surely cannot keep her job!

I realise that as the viewers we love Mare as we see that she's a good person driven to do stupid things out of desperation and dedication, but in the real word no one would be happy with such a maverick on their local police force! Grin

Was Mare eyeing the beer bottle as a possible source of DNA?

lazymum99 · 18/05/2021 10:52

I thought she just found it odd and suspicious that he left in such a rush without finishing his beer

lazymum99 · 18/05/2021 10:53

I can’t remember anyone’s names and how they are related to each other. Lockdown brain fog big time

BaconAndAvocado · 18/05/2021 10:57

The funeral scene and Mare laughing in the car afterwards had me roaring
Me too!

If Billy is Erin’s dad it’ll be too obvious but looks like Mare will be going down that train of thought regarding the close up of his beer glass,DNA.

I don’t want this series to end!

HamAndCheeseToastie5032 · 18/05/2021 10:59

@oneglassandpuzzled

It was an almost full bottle, so my take from it was that she had noticed that he was in a rush to exit from that particular conversation.

As DNA could be taken from an empty bottle I think?

Could be wrong though

RJnomore1 · 18/05/2021 11:09

I think DNA can be taken from anything you have drank from

I also don’t think mare is losing her job

I could be wrong twice there though!

banivani · 18/05/2021 11:36

Oh I thought DNA as well. Spit from the top, like.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 18/05/2021 12:04

I thought that too ~ took one swig, then got all flustered when the subject turned to Erin and he scarpered.

But the DNA thing is a good call. I hadn't thought of that.

I started re-watching it from the first episode last night. It really is so multi-layered and complex. There's quite a bit I missed on first viewing. I'm going to hate to see it end, but it will be a great series for watching multiple times.

One thing was why did Mare delete that bit of CCTV
alloverthecarpetagain · 18/05/2021 15:32

I can't remember the last time I watched tv that was so tense - it was so real as well, the details like Mare's injured hand shaking, struggling to even grasp things. Usually in cop dramas they just carry on like the Terminator no matter what happens to them. It was truly scary and tense as soon as they walked into the house, then just ramped up some more. I felt like Mare at the end, just collapsed in a heap.

alloverthecarpetagain · 18/05/2021 15:36

I will also watch it through again once I'm at the end of it because there are so many details and people I can't join up. My take on the cctv thing was that it showed their neighbour or whoever it was, doing the damage, and Mare just thought it wouldn't benefit anyone for them to see that as he was dancing around giving them the finger on their lawn so they'd be upset and feel even more threatened in their home than they did already. I might be wrong on that though, so will look closely as it comes up again. I took it that she takes the law into her own hands in lots of small ways like that, as she knows them all.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 18/05/2021 16:02

Oh, I’d forgotten about that. At the time I thought it was because she thought they were just a pair of daffy, paranoid old dears and dye couldn’t be arsed to open an investigation, but now that there’s been a death that could come back to bite her on the arse, if the crash turns out to be suspicious.

(I was reading elsewhere that they had to take a break in filming due to COVID, and the actress who played the elderly lady died in the interim, so maybe they had to write the crash in for that reason, and it’s not suspicious at all).

banivani · 18/05/2021 16:24

I thought exactly the same about the neighbour conflict. But now that Helen bit-of-a-goer Fahey Wink said that thing about "maybe she was startled by a racoon" I'm wondering if that neighbour jumped out at the car or something and caused the crash. Adding another blot to Mare's ledger.

SydneyCarton · 18/05/2021 16:40

If Billy does turn out to be the father, and he is related to Erin, I wonder if that's where the baby's hearing problem comes from?

I also thought that about the CCTV - she didn't want to upset them or open an investigation which would probably end up going nowhere with all resources concentrated on the murder and missing girls

banivani · 18/05/2021 17:09

Oh was Billy hard of hearing? God I missed that altogether.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 18/05/2021 18:20

Yes, Erin was saving up for an operation for him. Dylan found the envelope of cash when they searched her room for her journals, and he took it Angry
banivani · 18/05/2021 18:40

I know the baby has ear problems but the baby’s name is DJ. Billy is the uncle, as Sydney wrote above.

Whoops, totally misread that! Sorry! Blush
SydneyCarton · 18/05/2021 18:53

I meant because if the parents are related the chance of birth defects is much higher, so that might explain the ear problem. No idea if Billy has a hearing problem, since as a PP said, we hardly know anything about him. Mind you, the killer came completely out of left field so it could still be someone we’ve not met Grin
