The episode has disappeared! It was taken off from last Friday evening due to all the Philip TV coverage, and rescheduled for tonight. Now it’s completely disappeared!
I’ve been so looking forward to it both times. Anyone hazard a guess where it’s gone? I’ve checked schedules for this coming Friday and it’s series finished, compilation episodes from now on.

Not a fan of Tom Cruise. He is best buddies with David Miscavige who's the head of Scientology, and completely physically and emotionally abusive. Tom is a narcissist, as is David.

There's The Aftermath TV show with Leah Remini. David Miscavige's niece escaped Scientology and wrote a book about it- Jenna Miscavige Beyond Belief.

It absolutely is a cult, it is responsible for people's deaths and for thousands of people losing contact with their families. It's popularity is thankfully dwindling in recent years but for the people still trapped inside it can be a living nightmare.

Louis Theroux also did a documentary film about Scientology which was very insightful (apologies if already mentioned upthread). Some of the people featured were very sinister and threatening towards Louis.

There was no mention of the yacht incident though. I think even Louis realised asking about it would be a step too far.

I also remember watching a documentary years ago that featured Tommy someone (son of the actress Anne Archer) who was another Scientology bigwig and seemed seriously unhinged. IIRC, the documentary maker actually started to fear that the Church would come after him for filming some of the things he did.

That will likely have been the John Sweeney 2007 Panorama programme or the 2009 Martin Bashir interview with Tommy Davis.

If I remember correctly similar happened after the Louis Theroux documentary - scientologists went to his local police say they'd heard of threats against him. I think Louis' take was that it was a veiled threat from them and them letting him know where he lived (agree with the recommendations above too, its well worth watching - might try and watch again myself soon).

I think the BBC reporter was John something (not Sergeant), an experienced journalist. He was followed and harrassed, with people literally getting in his face and when he finally snapped they filmed him and reported him as threatening them. He got into a lot of trouble with his bosses at the BBC. I wonder if that may contribute to an uncrititical acceptance of stars like T.Cruise. As I have said he's way up on my personal cancellation list so I never see him or hear his voice.

No they literally believe we need to get rid of the alien spirits plaguing us. Scientology was made up by a grifter who wrote sci-fi. The whole thing revolves around aliens.

My teenage self loved Tom. Was a great time for those sorts of films - Top Gun, Cocktail, etc.

Complete turnaround now. We will never know exactly what happened with his divorce from N, but doesn’t sit right with me. What transpired with K after compounds it even more.

As others have said upthread, watching him being interviewed is like he is playing himself as a character. I partly understand it - can’t imagine living in the public eye all the time, so you create a “shield” around yourself.

But I can’t take anyone seriously who follows and invests in the S cult. I find it fascinating how many are drawn in. It’s like a highly advanced scam email that suckers in some of the highest earning people - HOW on earth do they fall for it?

I love the fact that John Bishop beat him on the track time. Tom seems so competitive and keen to point out all the adrenaline stuff he does and John was like “yeah, was told not to worry what happened to the car, it was like taking me dad’s car out uninsured!” 😂😂😂

The only clip I have seen was with Paddy McGuiness when they were talking about Top Gear's star in a reasonably priced car & the fact Paddy McGuiness beat Tom Cruise's time by 2 seconds. He seemed to be taking the jokes well. I agree he is looking well for his age, I can't wait to see Top Gun 2 as the first one is one of my favourite films.

Oh yes, that was hilarious! There's old Tom motorbiking on a 10 foot bridge with no railings, flying fighter jets and looping the loop but good old John beat him round a racing track. I bet that really hurt

I saw GN tonight and like others thought he looked very put together and better than when I last saw him on tv - whatever he has had done works well unlike Mrs T C 2

So, I googled “Rinder Nicole Kidman”and a shocking article came up about how Scientologists tapped NK’s phone, how they were instrumental in ether divorce and how they turned the children against NK. Quite gave me the chills.

The premise of Scientology is obviously bonkers but I think it's developed a self perpetuating power outside of that. There are lots of rich and powerful people involved who hold access to certainly Hollywood (ie a multi billion dollar industry) and doubtless other power mechanisms too. There was an investigation into the schools they ran here in the UK and there was definitely abuse and brainwashing going on but the former head is now head of a totally separate academy chain.
