New thread... really hope the title doesn’t offend anyone! I actually really admire how sensitively the story was handled!

Anyway... Corrie in 1998.

Soon be the Millenium ! Gail and Martin look like they’re splitting up soon !

GreenClock · 29/12/2021 22:49

I saw on here that Sharon returned to CS recently. What was her back story? Had she divorced Ian? Did they have kids?

WomanStanleyWoman · 29/12/2021 23:37

She and Ian split up; Sharon had cancer and he couldn’t handle it. No kids, but her nephew turned out to be a drug dealer terrorising Leanne.

GreenClock · 30/12/2021 00:10

Thank you!

Gumbomambo · 30/12/2021 15:46

Very glad to see the back of Sharon. Sick of Les. I’m not sure I hated him as much at the time but I think I did, he was always an awful character. Come on Janice kick him out.

GreenClock · 31/12/2021 00:58

Les has no redeeming qualities - that’s my problem with the character. It’s unclear why Janice is still with him. She’s not someone with incredibly low self esteem, they don’t have minor children to consider, and she works full time so could support herself…so I don’t really get it.

There are other flawed characters to whom I am unattracted (Kevin, Ken for example) but I can at least see their appeal tor for the women who’ve loved them.

Guacamole001 · 31/12/2021 16:13

I thought it was good to see Norris back in the programme today.

Akire · 31/12/2021 18:09

Been away for Xmas so had marathon session today! Enjoyed all of them. So glad Sharon has gone though how has nerve to flog the shop when it was her settlement and future I don’t know!

Hoping lez would get sent down, why was spider trying help him? He’s no doubt been on fiddle for years in one way or another wasnt done as desperate move in few bad week or months. Janice is a fool indeed. They could easily downsize now the two kids have moved out. It was far more acceptable then for a 17y to leave and get on their way then. None this 30 and still at home.

Wonder when rules around drink driving changed? Two glasses wine still sounds a lot. But maybe proper wine glasses sizes are tiny not what you have at home.

x2boys · 31/12/2021 18:22

If he had been drinking pub size large glasses ,two glasses of wine would be 2/3 of a bottle ,tbh i think he's always half cut he's always popping into the rovers for an " Irish wine" and I bet he has half a bottle of whiskey In his desk at work .

cherrytree63 · 01/01/2022 01:23

It's the 2nd time Mike's been done for drink driving, you'd think he'd have learnt his lesson by now.

GreenClock · 05/01/2022 19:08

Good to see the excellent Jill Halfpenny but sad to know that it’s the beginning of the end for the Platts. The Mike/Linda story will be good too, Jacqueline Pirie is fab.

I’m looking forward to the Sarah Lou pregnancy. I remember it being handled well at the time so I hope I’m not disappointed.

The millennium planning is funny and I’m enjoying the fascination with “the web”.

I’m loving Rita’s budding friendship with Norris and there’ll be some funny scenes with him and Vera at home I suspect.

I find drug storylines boring so I’m uninterested in the Jez Quigley scenes, good as the actor is.

So all in all, I’m enjoying it loads atm.

WomanStanleyWoman · 05/01/2022 22:14

Jacqueline Pirie is fab.

She’s given up acting now, which I think is a real shame. It would be great to have her back in Emmerdale as Tina Dingle.

GreenClock · 05/01/2022 23:46

Oh wow - I see that Jacqueline has written some successful novels in her married name. And set up various acting schools. What a success.

Like Sean Wilson and his lucrative food business.

And Peter Baldwin (Derek) bought that lovely toy shop in Covent Garden.

There is life after Corrie I guess! Not least for Fiona’s ex fiancé (Alan the policeman) who became the banker in Deal or no Deal 😂

WomanStanleyWoman · 08/01/2022 20:18

Maxine’s hair puts ten years on her Sad

GreenClock · 08/01/2022 21:08

I remember when Emily cut her lovely long red hair into that permed helmet in the 1980s and aged ten years. Terrible decision. It’s probably much harder to maintain than long hair too, which can just be washed and pinned up when dry.

Gumbomambo · 11/01/2022 12:46

I’m slowly catching up. I’m at the bit where the staff are walking out of the rovers for New Year’s Eve. Hmm. I am really enjoying Tyrone and the duckworths. It’s really heartwarming. Cannot stand Linda. Ace actress but awful character 😁

Gumbomambo · 11/01/2022 12:51

Oh my bloody god! As I finished typing Monica got squished!!!!

thenightsky · 11/01/2022 19:40

My box missed the first few mins off today. When and why was 'our Terry' back?

thenightsky · 11/01/2022 19:47

And why does Jill Halfpennyhave a bruised face?

Gumbomambo · 11/01/2022 20:04

Terry came back as a surprise for Xmas dinner but the duckworths had invited Gary and the twins. Gary punched Terry in the face. I’m not sure where Jills scraped face came from, maybe terry had been around hers too. I think she’s supposed to have an abuse boyfriend that’s why her and Martin getting over familiar on the wards.

loobylou10 · 11/01/2022 21:37

Rebecca and Martin were in a family room after the young boy had died and the mum ran out. Martin chased after her and the door hit Rebecca in the face whilst she folllowed them

FlibbertyGibbitt · 12/01/2022 17:03

Oooh errrrr Audrey and Sergei 🤣🤣🤣

MrFsAunt · 13/01/2022 13:33

Just catching up and thinking how ironic it is that it's Leanne going through all the cocaine issues on screen when actually really going through it at the time was Denise Welch! ( by her own admission).

Iwantacampervan · 13/01/2022 14:56

Sarah Lou wearing a dress with 'Baby' on the front (dressed as Baby Spice I assume)- the signals were there!
I didn't see these episodes the first time - busy with my 2 month old.

eggandonion · 13/01/2022 15:31

Rita was singing very poshly, if that's a word! I don't think millennium was like that where I live.
