PSA.

Back on Wednesday 7.4.21.

I’ve been watching online. It’s an absolute belter of a season back on top form. Can’t wait to watch again.

Oh, is Maggie's new boyfriend from Station 19? I wondered where he had suddenly sprung from...

No they met at a medial conference I think it was last season, but I think they knew each other before.
Papergirl1968 · 27/04/2021 22:09

Ah, must have missed that. Thank you, MrsCaptain.

I'm rewatching from the beginning (yet again!) and am loving reliving the early years. Currently on season 5, and enjoying watching it with DD who's watching for the first time. Lots of Scandal and Prison Break actors popping up. And the lovely Denny, sob.

I've only just finished watching scandal (I really do need to change my name after getting to the end of it as I'm not so in love with Mr Ballard anymore 😂) and all the way through I kept saying oh look that's such and such from Greys!

I miss the old seasons, think I'll need to rewatch soon!

FreedomFromLockdown · 29/04/2021 18:20

I have to say I think covid has really saved greys. Last season was so tired, but actually they have such good writers and actors that now they have a subject they can sink their teeth into it is good again.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 29/04/2021 19:28

It still feels a bit cobbled together to me but I suppose that's fair enough under the circumstances. The bit at the end with Bailey's mum and all the names made me cry.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 29/04/2021 21:01

@MrsCaptainJakeBallard He was lovely in Greys though.

SpanishFly · 30/04/2021 08:33

That was a lovely episode, BUT it was odd that Miranda had a whole back story we knew nothing about. Her mum with dementia, and the reason she hadn't spoken to either Meredith or Richard was because she didn't want to open old memories for them. That made no sense at all, and was all shoehorned in 😖

AngeloMysterioso · 30/04/2021 09:23

I’d rather they weren’t doing the whole covid thing to be honest. The last year has been full enough of covid misery, I watch tv for a bit of escapism, not to be shown even more of it.

SpanishFly · 30/04/2021 10:09

I watched Holby or Casualty the other week, and I liked how it was handling it - it was causing an issue within the hospital and it was there, but it wasn't the entire focus of every single story. Shonda really likes to hit us with a sledgehammer when dealing with these things. She really doesn't do subtle 😖 And always, without fail, makes political points out of everything 🙈

KFleming · 30/04/2021 10:26

I thought that fitted quite well with Miranda’s character. She’s quite private really
SummertimeEasyBreezy · 30/04/2021 10:26

I don’t mind the political points, there aren’t many black women in her position so their issues are under represented on tv.

SpanishFly · 30/04/2021 10:43

Absolutely,, but every single episode has some obvious political statement somewhere, and often it jars with what would be said in a normal conversation

MrsCaptainJakeBallard · 30/04/2021 12:30

I have noticed the political element a lot more this season with Greys & Station 19.

It doesn't bother me as such but it is very very noticeable these seasons.

I'm enjoying this season I've enjoyed it much more than the last couple, I think covid has helped it a bit although I've cried loads at it I think it's just because it's so relevant Blush

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 30/04/2021 20:58

That was emotional at the end..

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 06/05/2021 09:28

Just watched this week's episode - they are definitely over using Maggie to hammer home the lectures. It's too clunky. And I'm pissed off that they are continuing storylines from Grey's in Station 19. I think I might be coming to the end of my viewing. Owen is getting on my nerves too - has he forgotten all the shit he did, when telling at Teddy? I only really find Bailey and Richard interesting now.

SpanishFly · 07/05/2021 10:33

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously I'm the same. While I still enjoy it to an extent, I often forget I have an episode to watch, whereas years ago I'd be desperate to see the next episode and counted the days.
I cannot abide Maggie as a character, she is so wishy washy, which I'm guessing is the opposite of what is intended.
And I hate the crossover storylines too. Station 19 is too far on for me to start watching it now, and I shouldn't have to watch it to keep up with what's happening in GA! I understand the idea of having a crossover episode here and there, but it's a bit ridiculous now.
And the lecturing in the episodes is becoming tiring.

AngeloMysterioso · 08/05/2021 06:44

I agree, when she started ranting again this week I’m sorry to say I just rolled my eyes...

Owen pisses me off too, but then I’m not sure I’ve ever actually liked him as a character... always trying to force whichever poor woman is stuck with him to be who he wants them to be instead of who they are.

I’m actually sick of the covid storyline now. I’m sick of it in real life and I’m sick of it on TV.

frugalkitty · 08/05/2021 07:58

Angelo I'm in season 8 of my rewatch and this time round it's really struck me how much I dislike Owen, and from his very early appearances too. He's a bully and a baby. I'm annoyed they wasted Cristina on him.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 08/05/2021 08:17

I loved Christina. I remember her saying to Burke that she didn't want to marry him, she wanted to be him. I like that the writers never compromised her character - she remained true to herself.
It's not like that anymore.
Debbie Allen has quite a big role in GA - I think she produces or something? Why does she let Catherine Fox be so unlikeable?
I want all the old characters back!

ElderMillennial · 08/05/2021 08:47

So we were supposed to watch Greys before Station 19?? I thought it was the other way around and it was quite annoying to have watched Station 19 first as it's clearly the wrong order!

Is it always Greys first?

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 08/05/2021 08:49

I don't watch Station 19, have I been missing out? Can't stand Owen, never liked him, I don't believe in him, if that makes sense. No interest in Maggie.

KFleming · 08/05/2021 08:54

It’s odd, because on sky they show Greys first, then station 19. But when it’s on in America they show station 19 then greys. But we’re a week out of sync. So in America, this week’s greys would have been shown just after last week’s station 19 (and the storyline of the girls in the house that started the fire would have directly carried on in the same evening). And this week’s station 19 would have been the following week when shown in America.

I think that’s right anyway.

It's confusing, I thought it was usually s19 first. I usually get into greys, wonder if I've missed something, go back and yes half the storyline was in s19 (which I didn't and don't really want to watch). It's not even a crossover 'event' anymore it's just every other week you have to watch s19 or you miss something important! I will say I'm ahead of the UK schedule, (will be up to date with the US when I watch this weeks episode) and for the episodes coming up s19 is definitely first.
