The article I read seems to suggest that he won't play again until he plays in Belgrade (again) towards the end of May.

Which would mean not defending Rome either?

Raahh · 28/04/2021 14:22

Although another one says he will play Rome, and possibly not Belgrade.

So who knows.

Or cares? Grin
I'd be happy never to see him play again.

Fizzywinegum · 28/04/2021 16:18

Yes I can happily live without seeing Djok Grin

Raahh · 30/04/2021 19:14

I've just seen that Ivashka (who played very well against Rafa last week) has beaten Sascha in Munich.

Ruud was winning against Millman , but it is raining.

I hope there is no rain in Madrid next week.

Fizzywinegum · 30/04/2021 20:36

I think it has been raining in Madrid Raahh - fingers crossed for better weather next week - the European weather has been a bit rubbish hasn’t it?

The Tennis Podcast were talking about a twitter feed called Did Cilic win today? That made me a bit sad - poor Marin

Raahh · 30/04/2021 20:45

Aww- Poor Marin! Sad

he was doing so well - and then it all went south. But hopefully his son will have made up for the lack of tennis form.

Rubbish news about the weather. I can't keep up with this weather- it was so cold this morning, (had hail stones yesterday) then it went really warm. Before it rained.

It will probably snow tomorrow

JaneJeffer · 30/04/2021 22:07

It was cold here today and we had some half arsed rain.

Garbine has been advised by her doctor not to participate in Madrid Sad

Is he selling the cardigan?!

Sad I've just read that Dolgopolov is retiring. He's never recovered from a wrist injury 3 years ago. I am quite sad about that. There was a time when he was one of my 'ones to watch'. He got as high as 13 in the world at one point (I'll forgive him for beating Rafa twice- I remember him beating him at Queen's in 2015 really well. I took the dc to see the Minion movie after it Grin).

Happy retirement, DogBollocks Grin.

PrivateSpidey · 01/05/2021 13:33

Ah is he? I saw him play Ferrer at Wimbledon one year (think it was 2013) - really enjoyable to watch, he had loads of support from the crowd because he was just making all these unlikely shots. I thought he had been injured but hadn't heard about him for a while.

Looking forward to watching some of Madrid - the women's has already started hasn't it (not that I've managed to see any of it yet).

Raahh · 01/05/2021 13:37

Yes, the women's has started- I was just checking some results earlier. Svitolina was an early casualty.

I am looking forward to next week, I saw the draw - Rafa has Dom and Sascha and Rublev in his half- so pretty tricky. Medvedev and Tsitsipas are in the other half. I had thought Domi wasn't playing- but I got confused. Grin.

kazzaD66 · 01/05/2021 14:15

I see Norrie has just beaten Cilic and is now in the Estoril final!

Fizzywinegum · 01/05/2021 14:19

Oh no! That’s good for Norrie but not so good for poor Cilic Sad

I don’t really understand the overlapping of the men’s and women’s tournament in Madrid - do they both finish on the same day?

I’m intrigued by Roger’s auction - I bet there are some real gems in there! Grin

Raahh · 01/05/2021 14:35

Poor Marin- it's really not going well, is it?

I'm not sure why there is an overlap, although I remember reading that from this year, it would be a 2 week tournament.

Both finals seems to be next weekend though.

kazzaD66 · 01/05/2021 14:41

And Bambridge & Inglot are in the doubles final in Estoril.

But Konta lost in Madrid.
Oh dear, what a shame.

JaneJeffer · 01/05/2021 15:22

Aww I love The Dog. He was always brilliant to watch even if he could beat Rafa.

Just thought I'd have a look at what's going on in Madrid- Osaka has just drawn level with Muchova to take it to a 3rd set.

Some of the men's matches are on today- Shapovalov v Laijovic could be a good one. Shap has lost in the first round of the last 2 tournaments he's played.

Dan and Neal are in action in the doubles- against Medvedev and his partner, Demoliner.

Actually the doubles line ups look good- Rublev and Khachanov (who are always a good doubles team) - are playing Foggy and Diddy Diego, later too.

And it's not raining Grin (well, it is here, but not Madrid).

I have loads to do. But this is distracting me nicely. Grin.

De Minaur against Jaime Munar could be a good one too.

PrivateSpidey · 02/05/2021 12:10

Thanks Raahh Tennis
Looks like a good line up. Will tune in this afternoon, hopefully.

(Just realised it already is the afternoon - how did that happen?! Hmm Grin)

Raahh · 02/05/2021 12:16

Private I can't keep up with time at the moment. Grin.

I haven't really done anything useful (apart from walk the dog and bung things in the slow cooker)- I'm sick of nagging trying to get DD2 to do her homework.

JaneJeffer · 02/05/2021 16:20

Aww The Dog is so humble

Raahh · 02/05/2021 16:58

That's a lovely message Jane.

I have ended up missing all the tennis this afternoon. Which is typical really Grin.

Raahh · 02/05/2021 17:02

Just saw that Dan lost, which is shame.

The Munar/de Minaur match looks like it is going Munar's way.

The Russians are beating everyone today- Rublev/Khachanov beat Foggy and Diego.
