Join the MN Coronation Street thread today and you too could have an exciting lifestyle where you earn your own money, set your own hours and most definitely do not end up eating the chocolate off the Bounty at the bottom of the Celebrations tub out of desperation! Absolutely not a pyramid selling scheme, hun!

New to the thread.

Totally agree it’s been abysmal recently. Can anyone remind me why Eileen and Gail hate each other?

Where are you all watching classic Corrie? Would love to watch from the start.

WeeWillyWanky · 27/02/2021 17:00

Did the Gail/Eileen feud start when Todd got Sarah up the duff then went gay?

Akire · 27/02/2021 17:11

What Todd and Sarah had a baby??

Clawdy · 27/02/2021 17:13

They had a baby boy called Billy, who died. Very sad, and very well done, as I remember.

UhtredRagnarson · 27/02/2021 17:14

Yes the had a little boy who died called billy.

UhtredRagnarson · 27/02/2021 17:14

Xpost @clawdy

Akire · 27/02/2021 17:16

Heard of Billy not that Todd was father. I will have start watching old Corrie!

Soontobeseller · 27/02/2021 17:23

Oh I didn’t realise the feud went back that far! Thanks

TheLaughingGenome · 27/02/2021 18:23

Gail and Eileen fall out over men, historically and comedically. Like Les Dennis and Trouser Smell.

Classic Corrie is on one of those drama channels on Freeview during the day / evening.

TheLaughingGenome · 27/02/2021 18:25

I still think the Geoff death will / marriage / probate situation is bloody ridiculous.

There’s absolutely no sense to it so I’ve given up trying to work out how it’s going to go. They just make it up according to whatever way they want the story to go.
Akire · 27/02/2021 19:03

Geoff must have been living some where for the last 30y first. Yasmin house was already paid off so he must have more than just Yasmins share.

TheLaughingGenome · 27/02/2021 19:11

It's as if the current writers are all too young to have ever gone through or heard of the probate process or other legal processes around death and marriage ... they can't all be, surely??

It is utterly bewildering how the Geoff death story is being mis handled, and another insult to all the viewers who have had to live in the real and difficult world this past year.

I agree with pp that the clever writers of the past could have found a wonderful balance between the challenge and the gentle comedy of current life.

But they have failed.

Go on youtube , they don't have all the full episodes but it's much better than watching today's farce They start from the first episode aired Enjoy!
eggandonion · 27/02/2021 19:37

Youd think Ken or someone would know a bit about wills and stuff even if writers don't.
I watch classic corrie on itv3,and then have to turn off or my dh watches midsummer murders instead of working.

UhtredRagnarson · 27/02/2021 19:38

ITV player hub also have the classic Corrie episodes available.

UhtredRagnarson · 27/02/2021 19:39

But only for the last few weeks or so.

Akire · 27/02/2021 19:41

How far back are they at the moment?

UhtredRagnarson · 27/02/2021 19:43

I think they’re about 1998/99 at the minute.

Akire · 27/02/2021 19:45

Oh great I missed about 10y from 2000 onwards. Thanks for tip will start watching.

SophieB100 · 27/02/2021 20:11

Yeah, I watch Classic Corrie on Catch up (Virgin) but it's on every day - two episodes in the afternoons on ITV 3. About 1997/8 at the mo - it's so good (compared to current Corrie).

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 27/02/2021 21:15

I absolutely love classic Corrie, Nick and Leanne have just started going out!

eatsleepread · 28/02/2021 00:36

Please could someone explain Trouser Smell to me? I've seen it referenced a few times on here!

FabulouslyFab · 28/02/2021 11:00

Johnny Briggs RIP. I rather fancied him in Corrie.

TheLaughingGenome · 28/02/2021 11:26

Farewell Mike Baldwin. You were a great character.
