Is it just me who absolutely adores Sam.? He’s so sweet snd watchable and I actually care about the character

WeeWillyWanky · 26/02/2021 22:31

Sam is one of the few characters I care about, Everyone else can feck off to that London or get crushed by a tram.

excelledyourself · 26/02/2021 22:40

I like Sam now too. Found him a bit much to begin with, but I think that was more to do with the fact Natasha never never seemed to know where the hell he was or what he was up to.

Akire · 26/02/2021 22:45

I liked Elaine but she is annoying now every dropped fork is the end of the world, ok i know you been damaged but can we try and work on the end of world every 5min.

They have missed a lock down trick about every day comic things we have all been doing. The toilet roll shortage, hair cuts at home, washing the shopping all normal stuff that could have comedy moments.

Clawdy · 26/02/2021 22:56

Tonight's was particularly bad. Ridiculous, unfunny, unbelievable storylines with characters who were once likeable, but now irritating and annoying. I keep thinking " Is it the storyline, or the writing?" Sadly I think it's both.

Honeyroar · 26/02/2021 23:07

The only thing that really bugs me about Elaine is how she’s changed from a timid little person too scared to even step outside into woman’s aid personified overnight, preaching to Yasmeen about how she should get over things. Elaine spent decades hiding, she of all people wouldn’t expect Yasmeen to bounce back immediately.

UhtredRagnarson · 27/02/2021 00:10

I love little Sam. He’s such a brilliant actor. Much better than any of the other child actors on the show.

Johnny looks filthy. No showers in weather field nick.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 27/02/2021 00:16

I thought the first half in particular was an embarrassment tonight. Simon being horror-struck when he thought they were going to burn the druggie, but instantly finding it hilarious once he knew it wasn’t real? Dev and Mary all excited over lesbian cinema? Elaine randomly buying chickens and then berating herself for it? Eileen resurrecting an ancient feud with Gail for absolutely no reason whatsoever? It was all ridiculous.

I love Corrie, but at the moment I just can’t even process how badly it’s missing the mark.

Tonight’s episode is just Shock they all need sacking after that episode. I keep saying it but I can’t believe how low they’ve sunken.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 27/02/2021 02:36

@thenightsky

I've been trying to think who Simon's drug dealer side-kick reminds me of. Its just come to me... Mark Almond of Soft Cell!
He does!!
ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 27/02/2021 02:40

@theresnoonequitelikegrandma

Am I missing something? Why couldn't Simon just say to Nick ' Sam took my bag, please can I have it back?' And how could so many people be out and about (sometimes in pouring rain and sometimes not) and yet nobody saw Sam sitting outside the chippy on his own?
I was thinking that as well, I also thought it was ridiculous that Nick didn’t invite his stepson in but made him wait outside and shut the front door while he checked if Sam was awake, talk about making the lad feel unwelcome.
ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 27/02/2021 02:57

Where do they get the scriptwriters from? Honestly a 5 year old could come up with more sophisticated storylines than this lot, I honestly think it’s an easy job, us lot do a way better job on here, they manage to make an utter mess of the characters, they can’t remember key facts, can’t forward plan (quads for example), give long-standing characters personality transplants, can’t write normal day to day interaction, and don’t get me started on storylines that don’t stand up to scrutiny, Yasmeen’s finances/legality of marriage, body’s being dug up, sink holes appearing, Steve not grieving for yet another dead child I could go on. It makes me cross because it insulting the intelligence of the viewer and it feels disrespectful to the Corrie legacy.

lollipoprainbow · 27/02/2021 08:07

@thenightsky I thought the same !!

Roussette · 27/02/2021 08:10

I agree. My big criticisms are the character transplants... the writers seem to have forgotten how to build on a character, have us loving or hating them.
One minute they are all funny and quirky and just normal. Next minute they are doing some sort of crime that is totally out of character.

I never thought I'd go off of Yasmeen, I felt so sorry for her. Now she is turning into a sharp tongued shrew. Not appreciating the help ppl are giving her and digging her heels in. I would've thought she would've be more helpless and just saying to Aliya... thank you darling grandaughter, just do what you think best to help me sort my mess out. But no....

We must be desperate because lots of us are loving little Sam now! We're hanging on to anyone.

So agree with Akire we need the normal daft storylines that ordinary ppl are going through. There is much comedy value out there Groceries not being delivered or stupid substitutions, yes I agree too,home haircuts etc... just ordinary life. As a PP said I am sick to bloody death of teen crime. That seems to be the go-to storyline when they can't think of anything.

Agree with all of this - especially your second paragraph. The resurgence of the pudding-bowl haircut could have been comedy gold!
AndOffFlewMyLastFuck · 27/02/2021 08:51

I think Sam is lovely, the rest is shit
The adverts are more interesting

ChildOfFriday · 27/02/2021 12:25

After the abysmal episodes yesterday I cheered myself up by watching one of my favourite scenes Grin Hope the link works:

UhtredRagnarson · 27/02/2021 12:36

Grin I watched Corrie bloopers on YouTube last night and simon Greg is just hilarious. He makes everyone laugh when they’re trying to do their lines. I couldn’t keep a straight face looking at him.

That clip has also reminded me how grateful I am they got rid of horrible screechy Michele.

UhtredRagnarson · 27/02/2021 12:36

Re -Tim I'm not sure about the will thing either. Doesn't the spouse automatically inherit rather than the dc? What finance did Geoff bring to the relationship anyway

The Gail/Eileen scenes were pathetic and embarrassing

I think a spouse would only automatically inherit in the case of no will - but I’d imagine Yasmeen would have a good case to contest.

The revelation of the will was the only good bit about last night - but only because I’d read the spoiler weeks ago and was sick of reading ‘Why have they forgotten Geoff’s will?!’ on here GrinGrin

Loved that clip ChildOfFriday !

TellingBone · 27/02/2021 13:20

If Yasmeen wasn't legally married to Geoff did he ever actually own half of her house?

Akire · 27/02/2021 15:24

Is Gail and funeral chap thinking of buying the community centre? They did go off together and then “lots of local interest”. Gail must have dosh left over though not sure what she do with it. Unless it’s going be a funeral parlour (and to be honest the street could probable do with one).

eggandonion · 27/02/2021 15:28

Who is next to die? If they had a funeral home Billy could pray in it a lot, and Tiny the horse could be employed. Is he still around, or is he in the animal sanctuary where Elaine helps? With the forgotten pets of corrie.
