@emilybrontescorsett

AGnu you could become a blogger. Don't forget you need to drag your old grandad on the show with a story to gain maximum votes.
Or your Petz.

Personally I am more swayed by a cute dog or cat than by a nonagenarian.

Theromanempire · 13/12/2020 07:25

I assumed the musical guest stars were filmed at the same time as the pro group dances when all the pros were in a bubble. I think tonight will give us a clue on that since Jesy has left Little Mix so if she is on the show tonight, clearly they were not filmed recently Wink

Maireas · 13/12/2020 07:27

Right, AGnu. You go on one of those tv shows where you can't cook/manage the kids/your house is a tip etc and are saved by Nick Knowles, Ainsley Harriot or whoever. You are so charming, quirky and brave that you get on Gogglebox. You are so funny and endearing that they sign you up for SCD.
Job done. Couple's Choice with Gio wearing silver chamois leather hotpants (him), pink chiffon (you).

I had assumed the same, but as I said up thread there are definitely people in the judges seats and they certainly resemble the judges (in the dark, admittedly).

I remember one of the weeks Anton was a judge I saw him (or aanother man) sitting at the desk during the musical act, so even if they do go to the trouble of having stand-ins for ‘realism’ that couldn’t have been filmed much ahead of time as they had no way of knowing Motsi would need to quarantine and Anton fill in for those weeks.

Plus they’re not usually that bothered about continuity on the results show. It’s not unknown for a pro to be dancing to a musical guest and then they cut straight to the Clauditorium and the same pro is standing there in their show costume. 🤷‍♀️

Yesterday 23:10 EvilRingahBitch

Two of them were too good from day 1 and lack the journey factor and three of them aren’t really good enough to be worthy winners.

Which, in a way, is how Strictly was 10 years ago, when there were fewer very competent dancers from the start and many more j words to follow. I’ve liked that about this series, thinking about it now, and it’s been refreshing not hearing “the standard this year is so high” every 5 minutes. And I know there’s plenty of room for improvement still from BVB, Ranvir and Bill, but however imperfect they are technically, they are at least doing lots of steps, entertaining us, putting on a show etc, albeit in an amateurish way, which is surely what it’s all about.

BigBadVoodooHat · 13/12/2020 07:48

Wow - I don't pay attention during the "turns" unless it's someone I'm particularly interested in so I must admit I hadn't noticed the judges.

It’s precisely because the musical guests usually bore me senseless that I look at what’s going on in the background Grin

It genuinely surprised me that there were ‘judges’ at the desks as I too had assumed they filmed them all over the summer.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 13/12/2020 07:58

jambeforeclottedcream
Maisie
And her titles intro annoys me like she tilts her head in a " this one" type way

Talking of the titles, is anyone else irritated and annoyed by Bill’s ? The way he loses his balance and falls out of step at the end can’t have been deliberate, and yet they kept it in. I know it’s only a little thing but it sets my teeth on edge every time. Even more infuriating than the missing raspberry on the chocolate cake in Bake Off

TheDrsDocMartens · 13/12/2020 08:11

Been lurking for a while but not been watching live until this week.
Normally I’m a ‘ok they’ve peaked send them home’ person but this year I’d be happy to see Bill and Ranvir in the final. Didn’t expect to like BVB but much better than I expected too.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 13/12/2020 08:41

Rewatching last night and in the bit at the beginning where the contestants all say their little piece about working hard, getting to the finals etc, Bill says “and there’s very little between everyone “. As I, and pps have said several times, Bill hasn’t fulfilled the promise of his earlier dances, and Nvwls and Maisie are undeniably better than the others- so I would dispute that remark Hmm

Skipsurvey · 13/12/2020 08:46

i reckon the muscial acts are live so anton and diane are now coupled due to dancing to the live musical acts

Skipsurvey · 13/12/2020 08:52

the nhs in the audience must have been upset to have missed out over the past few weeks.

SoupDragon · 13/12/2020 09:08

The only pros dancing to the celebrity performers are those who no longer in the competition or weren't in it to start with. If they knew that in advance then clearly they are cheating with the voting!

EvilRingahBitch · 13/12/2020 09:17

They appear to have bubbled up the pros in pairs as they got eliminated, but I’m not quite sure how that works legally, because if you have a support bubble you can’t switch can you?

Samcro · 13/12/2020 09:22

I didn't know that harvey had had training.
I hope a not ringer wins.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/12/2020 09:26

Place marking...four pages in!

billysboy · 13/12/2020 09:31

A pity the ringhas are in there really Its a two tier show with Measie and her Mum and HRVY and the rest which are possibly more fun to watch along the way
I think they should have kept Tony Beak on as 4 th judge

Hrvy will win as it ticks the most boxes

Maireas · 13/12/2020 09:45

Maisie studied Musical Theatre at college. That's got to give her as much of an advantage as Harvey? She also released two singles and I'm wondering if she learned dance routines for both?

Skipsurvey · 13/12/2020 09:51

i wish hrvy hadnt pointed out that jnt had never won, it seems like a tout for votes, otoh i guess he was asked the question.

i like them all though

SparklingDinosaurs · 13/12/2020 10:01

I actually rewound to check out if I’d rightly saw Amy sitting next to Aljaz. Sad I know but I can’t work out why that was allowed with the bubbles etc. She was only out last week so that’s not two weeks before forming a fresh bubble (I think that’s the rules?). I know the 4 “spare” pros have been bubbled since the start (Neil & Nancy and Graz & Nadia) and have performed a lot of the results show dancing. I’d assumed Diane and Anton had to bubble for their one. So am expecting to see an Amy & Alijaz dance tonight?! All the other pros are sitting alone. I clocked Kataya looking rather grumpy at one point! I thought only the group pro dances were filmed in the summer in the big group bubble. Whereas the results dancing to musical guests appears to be filmed much more recently. Perhaps some of the Saturday (I’ve also see judges watching and doubt they planks) and some at other times of the week depending on music guest availability maybe. Who know!!! The Amy & Alijaz at same table did annoy me as seemed totally contrary to what they’ve been doing bubble wise (and I should have been sitting next to him Wink)

Arrgg back to the dancing. I didn’t watch until voting closed but I’d have given all 3 to Jamie. He’s just a nice all around person to watch and looks like he’s having fun even though you also know he’s desperate to stay in. I don’t feel uncomfortable watching him and he’s fun. The final will be pretty dull without him I think. He had also improved loads. I like to see that a proper novice learning and growing blah blah. Whereas Harvey and Maisie were good from the start - I don’t mind that as otherwise the early weeks would be quite hard to view but it’s not the same. I don’t think any are the biggest ringers of all time but they are ringers - Harvey less so probably. Didn’t someone say that Maisie hasn’t scores less than a 7 all series?! Surely that just means she had a high ability in first place. Then the other two Ranvir and Bill I think they peaked early and haven’t really improved much. Bill surprised everyone in the early weeks but I haven’t seem anything “wow” from him lately and I think he’s def peaked ability wise. Ranvir has a “journey” which I’m not sure I like (under confident woman blossoms through dance doesn’t sit right with me) but she’s also peaked with beautiful frame etc yet no skill in faster Latin dances as shown by the Jive. I’d like to see Maisie go this week purely as I still find her insincere and I’d like Jamie to win. Neither will happen.

Foliageeverywhere122 · 13/12/2020 10:04

I don’t vote but if I did I think I’d give 3 to BVB just because he’s having so much fun and genuinely seems to everything to all his dances despite clear lack of natural talent Grin Also heard him talk about his anxiety and that he struggles with panic attacks so do think he’s doing very very well!

I love Ranvir but last nights jive was not good (arguably far worse than the other bottom contestants doing dances they’re not suited too...)

I hope Bill is ok! He seem exhausted yesterday 😔

Skipsurvey · 13/12/2020 10:06

yes I think i would like Jaimie to win, for his journey

BigBadVoodooHat · 13/12/2020 10:11

They appear to have bubbled up the pros in pairs as they got eliminated, but I’m not quite sure how that works legally, because if you have a support bubble you can’t switch can you?

It’s also weird in terms of Anton/Dianne as Anton has a partner & young children, and Dianne has Joe, so neither of them are single. Neil & Nancy seem like a feasible ‘bubble’ as Neil is single (don’t know about Nancy) and there are no kids involved.

BigBadVoodooHat · 13/12/2020 10:15

Ranvir has a “journey” which I’m not sure I like (under confident woman blossoms through dance doesn’t sit right with me)

I agree. I hated that ‘storyline‘ when they scripted it for Louise Redknapp too.

Very condescending (to the dancer in question, and to the audience)

PenguindreamsofDraco · 13/12/2020 10:15

I just cant be doing with NVWLS. He just looks like a stick. I like watching men dancing, not skinny teenagers swathed in silk.
We were huge Bill fans but he hasn't really improved. Maisie just annoys me, that street dance was boring as fuck, I felt nothing (except embarrassment that she clearly has a massive crush on Gorka). Ranvir has over played the single mother learning to love again through daaahnce motif.
Cannot believe it, but I can actually see us voting for Jamie if he gets through

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 13/12/2020 10:21

She's had celebs with the ability before. I think the format of this series might have worked in her favour actually.

I do like her, I just don't think her ballroom is always good enough to to choreograph, teach and make her celeb look good.
