are you from ni or Scotland, I love a good hoke.

Grin

NI. Me too. Can’t beat a wee hoke.

eggandonion · 10/12/2020 15:18

Hoking under beds produces many socks in our house! We need a wee visit from Big Jim so we do, he's currently on the classics in the afternoon so he is. I wish Ray and Annie would take themselves off to Eastenders and redevelop there.

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 15:54

Oh you’re brave! You wouldn’t hoke under a bed in this house for fear of being absorbed by whatever lurks Grin

HappydaysArehere · 10/12/2020 17:27

Yes, how the hell did Alya get up on the roof? She had been knocked out
and the door was supposedly locked so how did she get in? I should imagine that a head injury would have made climbing out onto that roof very difficult (impossible). Also, it was the way she was suddenly there.

eggandonion · 10/12/2020 17:55

I asked dh if alya was really there, or just in Yasmeens imagination. He told me an imaginary alya was daft.
But her being there was daft too. Really.
We had flooring replaced and had to hoke under my dd1 bed. Dd1 had 40 lever arch folders, which was impressive.
I assume Ray hasn't given up. Ray versus Roy will be an evil versus good fight.

Clawdy · 10/12/2020 19:47

Actually, an imaginary Alya would be an interesting idea! Yasmeen is rescued, looks frantically around for Alya, then they find her lying unconscious........

Honeyroar · 10/12/2020 20:43

I actually wondered whether Alya was imaginary at first, there had been so many imaginary things in her head throughout that episode!

Sitting on the roof of a burning house isn’t the best place to be, is it!

BaconAndAvocado · 10/12/2020 22:16

Loved this episode.

Geoff/Jeff was like a psychotic Father Christmas up on the roof. Also brought the late Rod Hull to mind...

Not sure if this has been touched upon but does anyone else find me Nick's new son highly irritating? Cute, yes but very very annoying.

eggandonion · 10/12/2020 22:41

Poor rod hull. Emu was nicer than Geoffs horrible dummies.

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 22:52

I’m watching ITV3 right now Dec 8th 2000. 20 years ago. I think it was a live episode. All my faves are in it. Jack and Vera, Janice, Curley, Eileen when she was fun, Liz, Deirdre and Blanche, Emily protesting! Peter has arrived fresh out of the navy! And baby faced David Platt giving lip to anyone in his way Grin give me back those days please!

Smallsteps88 · 10/12/2020 22:52

And they were smoking in the rovers! Grin

MrsBungle · 10/12/2020 22:59

Last nights episode was probably the worst I’ve ever seen. So disappointed. I’ve grown up with corrie and love it but this writing is absolutely crap. How on earth did Alya know they were on the roof? And did she just storm through the fire?!

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 10/12/2020 23:07

@wizzbangfizz

I also think they put a bizarre amount of focus on geoffs magic dolls
I jumped out of my skin at those Grin
PoloNeckKnickers · 11/12/2020 05:50

Caught up yesterday. Had to eat a Toblerone to get me through it.

TheRogueApostrophe · 11/12/2020 08:16

Another one here bemused at how Alya managed to fight her way through a burning building, to climb on the roof after being knocked unconscious moments before. I'm hoping she was imaginary; it's the only explanation. Or, she's lying dead in Speed Dhal and she rescued Yasmeen from the afterlife.

I'm disappointed Geoff died. I wanted to see him arrested, charged and convicted of coercive control. Death seems like an easy end to the storyline.

Me too. But soaps always do this now. It’s so predictable. They can’t just have a normal RL outcome. If Liz and Jim were happening now Jim wouldn’t have been carried off to jail after attacking her in the house, they’d have turned it into a car chase where Jim ended up driving over a cliff and drowning.

Clawdy · 11/12/2020 08:40

Maybe Geoff isn't dead but will be permanently disabled with brain damage......Yasmeen his carer, and him adoring her and relying on her for everything. ......

It is!

I thought I had an excellent handbag pen collection (17 in one small bag - I think one of them might even have been my own Grin) but reading this makes me realise that in terms of stationery accumulation, I have so much to strive for.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/12/2020 09:09

I can't stand him

I even find him too twee to be cute. Sort of "What does a child need for everyone to go "Aaaaaah! In'e LUVLY!" and then they build him to a spec.

I am impressed with the memory of the child actor when he's spouting science-y stuff, but I could honestly slap him silly most of the time. Really gets on my nerves.

Smallsteps88 · 11/12/2020 09:10

When my son gave up his dummies I did a sweep of the house and found 32! 32 dummies!!

The afterlife thing would be good!

But I also wanted Geoff to get his comeuppance in a court of law - I see this as him getting away with it.

Fck that Clawdy*. I've seen too many stupid women look after their abusive/unfaithful husbands when illness (and often the OW) has forced them to go back home - I want better than that for Yasmeen, and worse than that for Geoff.
