Thanks for the commentary Raahh - I’ve recorded it so hopefully will be able to watch later.

I briefly saw that about Djok withdrawing and then coming back Hmm - do you think they made him go back on court!

Raahh · 29/01/2021 10:54

Fizzy I'm not sure. When I read it, it looked very strange. I also read it as pulling out of the whole thing, 6 hours before, and got a bit excited . Grin
I never trust Djok. He has had so much stick for his stupidity over the past 12 months, the cynic in me thinks this is just an excuse for if loses.

Raahh · 29/01/2021 10:55

I am not going to be able to watch much more. DD2 is off her call to school, and the dog is getting stroppy. Grin.

magimedi · 29/01/2021 11:13

Djok is an A1 tosser.

Must seem odd seeing people without masks!

OP posts:
Raahh · 29/01/2021 11:22

magi he is Grin

I am not used to seeing crowds of specators. I have forgotten what 'normal' looks like, and it was a shock to see them all sitting there. Back to 'normal'.

I can't see it being the same at tournaments in other countries for quite a while, though really.

Raahh · 29/01/2021 11:23

*spectators

kazzaD66 · 29/01/2021 12:09

I saw that this morning about Cock not playing the first set because of blisters but then playing the second Confused
I think I read somewhere that a condition of having a slightly comfier quarantine period in Adelaide was that you had to play this exhibition, so maybe he was forced onto court Grin
Either way, he continues to be a prize prick!

I hate cleaning out the soap drawer of the washing machine. Luckily, DH does it for me, with no prompting Grin

Still can't work out what has happened with my MN problem (I use my mobile) but thanks anyway for the suggestions Confused

Fizzywinegum · 29/01/2021 13:11

I don’t think anyone else in our house knows what the soap dispenser is never mind that it might need cleaning kazza!

I was thinking that about the players in Adelaide having better conditions - I bet the organisers weren’t too happy when Djok said that he wasn’t playing - talk about biting the hand that feeds you - what a Cock!

Raahh · 29/01/2021 13:28

Fizzy that was my immediate reaction when I saw the withdrawal- benefit from the better quarantine conditions and then don't play Hmm.
I saw a clip of his post match waffle, but I couldn't be bothered with it. Since the match was won by Kraijinovic as well, I don't know if he got chance to say anything!

Yamayo · 29/01/2021 13:43

Out of curiosity, does anyone actually 'like Djok?

Raahh · 29/01/2021 14:47

Yamayo there are some people on the threads who do Grin.

I have never been a fan.

Fizzywinegum · 29/01/2021 16:24

I’m sure there must be someone who likes him somewhere Grin I’m not a fan either

magimedi · 29/01/2021 17:03

I guess his kids like him.................... Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 29/01/2021 17:32

magi Grin

But what will they think of his cringy celebration thing when they get older?Grin

Yamayo · 29/01/2021 20:59

Magimedi I was going to say his parents... Wink
Funny because however much I find Nadal's game dull he seems to be a lovely human being.

Djok on the other hand...

kazzaD66 · 29/01/2021 22:14

I used to like him for the first few years, his impressions of various players, including Sharapova and Boris (our one Wink) were quite funny. Now, however.......Angry

JaneJeffer · 30/01/2021 13:23

He was good at impressions but knowing him now I think there may have been another side to them!

magi I wish you could do some cleaning for me. Lockdown is not doing this house any favours.

Raahh · 30/01/2021 13:38

Jane I agree, I'm not convinced Djok's impressions came from a 'good ' place Grin. I think it was an early attempt to be 'loved' . It was indulged - but didn't gain him the adoration that Rafa and Roger got, purely by being themselves. It must really annoy him. Well, we know it does. Grin.

JaneJeffer · 30/01/2021 13:42

I think if he stopped trying to be liked and just revelled in the smugness of being brilliant at tennis he would be better liked!

Raahh · 30/01/2021 13:51

Jane that's just it- he may (or not) end up with more slams/titles than Rafa or Roger. He is still fit, he is younger than Rafa- and much younger than Fed. He does (whether I like it or notGrin) have a more 'complete' game, really.
If he hadn't gone into a slump in 2016/got injured in 2017- I do think he would be way ahead by now. Lendl never cared if people liked him or not Grin, for example. And ironically, he had a lot of fans for being a bit of a miserable sod Grin.

But Djok also sabotages himself by holding dodgy views, and being quite strange in other ways. Constantly pitching himself against the other two will never end well.

JaneJeffer · 30/01/2021 13:55

ironically, he had a lot of fans for being a bit of a miserable sod including No. 1 fan Fizzy

Djok also sabotages himself by holding dodgy views
True. Just shut up and play tennis!

Raahh · 30/01/2021 14:10

I loved Lendl. Grin. He just got on with things.

I know (our) Boris will probably take to the grave what went on between Djok and him (I wonder if Djok paid off his debts, in exchange for his silenceGrin)- but I would love to know what went on between them. They are so different.

Fizzywinegum · 30/01/2021 15:44

Glad that I got a mention as Lendl’s no 1 fan Jane Grin - I think I liked his miserableness and his cheekbones!

I think Djok just tries too hard to be loved and it puts people off and yes he does have some dodgy views. I also don’t think he’s learnt to be diplomatic or keep quiet in the way that Roger and Rafa have so does end up saying/doing the wrong thing. Yes maybe he should just let his tennis do the talking and stop doing that cringy celebration!

I watched some of the Rafa match from yesterday - I was so envious of the crowds sitting in the sunshine, watching tennis, drinking beer and wine without masks Envy. Rafa just looked so happy to be playing in front of a crowd and I loved his speech at the end.

Everything about Djok seems quite forced and false whereas Rafa just seems like a really nice person (I am a bit biased though!)

I would also know what went on between Boris and Djok Raahh - maybe AC will get him to confess all one day!

Fizzywinegum · 30/01/2021 15:48

I love it how we have to distinguish between the two Borises Grin - I still think there are similarities but I prefer our (tennis) Boris!

Raahh · 30/01/2021 15:54

Fizzy there are definitely similarities Grin - but I 'ours' is better.
