Now we've overcome our dislike of subtitles, we've just enjoyed DNA and are enjoying 'The Bridge'. That'll keep us going for a while yet I know but while I'm thinking about it thought I'd ask for other recommendations. Particularly crime dramas/thrillers.
We have Netflix and Prime as well as the usual catch up.
Thanks!

Never heard of Wlext.is. but Rita is also on Netflix in the UK.

I adore Saga everything about her! Henrik really irritated me for ages but I think that might have been because I loved Martin.

This is very very shallow, but Martin's bottom lip jutting out started to be very noticeable to me and then started to really irritate me, so as much as I liked the character and the acting, I'm kinda glad he's gone. I though Henrik was going to be a pain but I warmed to him a lot.

Part of the actor playing Martin's reason for leaving was anti semitism in Sweden and particular in Malmo but I think he also said that he had issues with scripts etc and would sometimes use the anti semitism as an excuse not to go to Malmo.

Netflix: Zone Blanche (Blackspot) is French, on the surface a police procedural but has a whole other storyline that’s bonkers in a good way.

And La Trêve (The Break, as in when schools are off, not as in Ross and Rachel...) in French and Flemish and certainly series 1 has every stereotype of Belgian grossout depravity.

Thank you all - I may never leave the house again!

Has anyone suggested Modus? Or Cardinal, which is Canadian so no subtitles!

IntermittentParps · 24/11/2020 16:32

Haven't seen Modus. Cardinal is beautiful, I think. Love Lise Delorme's character.

It's a free site. I don't pay for TV because it doesn't have enough of what I want to watch on.

Plenty of free sites around.

I just finished Borgen. I am bereft! Oh I loved it so much. Best thing I’ve seen for ages.

melmos · 24/11/2020 21:19

Arne dahl, beck and lily hammer are great

KittyMcKitty · 24/11/2020 22:19

So I’ve just finished S3 of The Killing and feel like I’ve been his with a brick!!

Having watched both seasons of Trapped before starting it I think I may need something a little more upbeat !

KittyMcKitty · 24/11/2020 22:20

Hit with a brick not his with a brick!

cdtaylornats · 24/11/2020 22:50

Netflix - the Indian Detective

Sooverthemill · 25/11/2020 08:30

@RozHuntleysStump did you know there's a new season of Bergen commissioned by Netflix coming next year?

RozHuntleysStump · 25/11/2020 11:17

@Sooverthemill it won’t be the same though! However this news pleases me.

mrsfeatherbottom · 25/11/2020 11:28

Also love Beck and Arne Dahl, although it's not for the faint hearted. Must check out Lily Hammer.

The tunnel? Not Scandinavian but based on a scandi film?

KittyMcKitty · 25/11/2020 11:47

Isn’t the Tunnel the remake of The Bridge? I know it’s supposed to be very good but I don’t think I could watch it - would seem disloyal to Saga somehow Blush
CandyLeBonBon · 25/11/2020 11:49

@KittyMcKitty ahhhh yes that's the one! I haven't watched the bridge but loved the tunnel! Am going to have to watch it now!

KittyMcKitty · 25/11/2020 11:50

Candy The Bridge is fantastic- easily the best IMO.

midsomermurderess · 25/11/2020 13:52

The Tunnel is based on the Danish/Swedish version of the Bridge. It only runs to 2 series but sticks very closely to the storyline of the first 2 series of the original but the play is on Anglo/French cultural differences. It's very good and Clemence Poesy is very good as the Saga character. Well worth watching IMO. There is also a US/Mexican one but I didn't get on with it so much.

muddledmidget · 25/11/2020 14:09

Suburra on Netflix us a really gritty violent show about Italian gangs, mafia, corruption and sex. We watch it in Italian with subtitles but I think it is now dubbed, but it is so compelling

Sooverthemill · 26/11/2020 08:59

@muddledmidget I preferred Gomorrah to Suburra though DH disagreed!
My favourite adaptation of a scandi series is the USA 'the killing'. It really was excellent
