Good Scandi / other foreign crime series?

Now we've overcome our dislike of subtitles, we've just enjoyed DNA and are enjoying 'The Bridge'. That'll keep us going for a while yet I know but while I'm thinking about it thought I'd ask for other recommendations. Particularly crime dramas/thrillers.
We have Netflix and Prime as well as the usual catch up.
Thanks!

Since we're branching out, geographically, can I suggest Salamander? Belgian, 2 series.

Sooverthemill · 17/11/2020 16:02

Ooh yes I loved salamander

hanahsaunt · 17/11/2020 16:07

There was a trailer last night for The Valhalla Murders coming in a couple of weeks to iPlayer - Icelandic- on the list for after DNA.

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 17/11/2020 17:34

Border town is fantastic!

Sooverthemill · 17/11/2020 18:11

@hanahsaunt that looked good didn't it?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/11/2020 18:47

@Madbengalmum

Spirale is the best of the lot apart from The Bridge. Brilliant cast.
LOVE SPIRAL!

But the scandi ones are on the whole brilliant.

diddl · 18/11/2020 21:42

I've just realised that I've only seen the first series of Thicker than Water.

Can find the 2nd series but not the third.

Anyone any ideas?

midsomermurderess · 18/11/2020 22:16

I think the third series has come out in Sweden but hasn't been released elsewhere. I saw something about it a while back on the actor who plays Oskar's Instagram.

Melassa · 18/11/2020 22:39

Second the Valhalla killings and Deadwind, both very good.
I couldn’t get into the Twelve, does it get better? I’m on the third episode.
Loved the Forest (French), Glacé and Black Spot (both also French)
Also liked Criminal, watched all the versions (uk, Spanish, German and French)
Dark I stopped watching when I went on holiday then couldn’t get back into it.
Is Spiral on Netflix? I just tried looking for it but it didn’t come up. Does it have another title?

AnyFucker · 18/11/2020 22:49

.

rosegoldwatcher · 18/11/2020 23:19

@Melassa - Is Spiral on Netflix? I just tried looking for it but it didn’t come up. Does it have another title?

It is also known as Engrenages.
It comes to iplayer occasionally but isn't on at present.
Prime has all 7 seasons available to stream, but at a cost of £20 ish per season.
DVD of series 1 to 6 is selling for £29.99.

BTW - it would seem that season 8 (the final season) has been completed - can't wait for the BBC to show it.

Can't find a way of watching the 2nd afterall!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/11/2020 07:38

Thanks all. We're nearing the end of season 1 of the Bridge and loving it.

@RockingMyFiftiesNot I’m actually a little bit jealous of you watching it fir the first time! So good

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/11/2020 09:04

@Sooverthemill sorry! I know what you mean though.

Thanks! Will look out for it on Prime. Not in the Uk so cannot use iPlayer, at the worst i will ask for the box set for Xmas.

The bridge is fab, just watching season 4.

Bordertown I found a bit meh to be honest. Watched 1 or 2 seasons and no interest in going back to finish it.

midsomermurderess · 19/11/2020 13:44

diddl, Series 2 is on All 4 under Walter Presents, if you can access that. U.K. only tho.

Sadly not.
midsomermurderess · 19/11/2020 15:22

Oh, that 's a pity.

midsomermurderess · 19/11/2020 15:26

The Anglo-French The Bridge is excellent too. It sticks very closely to the Danish/Swedish story lines and plays on the cultural differences between both nations. Clemence Poesy takes on the Saga role and she is so good. And Stephen Dillane as the British cop is excellent. It's on Now TV I think.

Sooverthemill · 19/11/2020 19:43

I loved the USA version of 'the killling'. Didn't want to but it was excellent

PTW1234 · 19/11/2020 19:57

I have just finished watching signs, it’s polish and really good. 2 series, has a bit of a paranormal undertone, links to nazi experiments and improper disposal of bodies from concentration camps.

Guylan · 19/11/2020 20:42

Also loved the Bridge, Borgen, Spiral and Killing. Enjoying Bureau at the mo, five series, set in the French equivalent of MI6.

mrsfeatherbottom · 19/11/2020 20:44

Borgen is amazing! We've just watched DNA on BBC 4 and really liked it
