The £50k is just the cash under the table as a sweetener for Geoff to encourage him to sell. The sale price of the house will be (eg) £170k and then Ray will give him another £50k undeclared.

The vendor of my parents’ house tried to get an under the table payment from them. Said she would drop the selling price of they have her £10k in cash. They walked away and then she got in touch to say ok no cash, just a straight sale.

But Yasmeen wants to sell because of her legal bills. She and Alya thought they’d have to talk him into it. That’s why Geoff wanted the backhander - he won’t have to share that with Yasmeen.

I'm also confused by Jan, cilla and Beth.

Beth was essentially little more than a Cilla clone when she first arrived. I think that’s why the writers made her such a protective mum over ‘our Craigy’ - to differentiate from Cilla’s neglect of Chesney.

Yeah they started saying “compare the market has been proud to sponsor coronation street” a couple of weeks ago so I guessed their contract had ended. I’m surprised no new sponsor though.

I used to love the Cadbury dairy milk sponsor ads for Corrie. All the chocolate people.

It’s really tiresome. I get that she’s been through hell but it’s really hard to keep watching her snapping and sniping and behaving as if Oliver was only important to her. Everyone else has lost him too!
