So exciting, it's on Amazon Prime 28 October!!!

I’m bawling my eyes out too.

I feel I need to make plans right now for when this series ends, I’ll miss it a lot!

Any ideas anyone for a similar series?

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/02/2021 18:24

I'd recommend Parenthood but don't think it's available free anywhere.

User7458 · 19/02/2021 19:54

The film Life Itself is somewhat similar and was written and directed by the same person as This is us, I enjoyed that greatly as well.

Teenageromance · 19/02/2021 20:45

So sorry to be a pain on this thread - but just coming to the end of series 1 and William has died and I love this show so much. Best thing I’ve seen in ages.

Housewife2010 · 19/02/2021 20:51

Did anyone else get frustrated when Kevin was on the way to the airport and jrlg taking hus eyes off the road to answer the phone? I kept shouting at him to watch the road!

MadisonAvenue · 19/02/2021 21:35

We’ve only just managed to watch it. What a beautiful episode.
So happy to see Uncle Nicky, I love his character.

Still can’t warm to Madison though.

MadisonAvenue · 19/02/2021 21:40

Oh, and we also thought they were Miguel’s parents until we worked out that he’d have been born before 1963.
I did like the inclusion of the little extra storyline though, it was a lovely tribute.

Dockland I hope we see more of Miguel’s story too. I like him.

BentBastard · 19/02/2021 23:11

I wonder if they plan to do any Rebecca childhood. Her obsession with the painting at the MET is the only snippet we've seen as far as I can recall.

Housewife2010 · 19/02/2021 23:39

We have seen some of Rebecca's childhood.

Sarcobaleno · 20/02/2021 09:05

Loved the tribute at the end, very sweet to include that. Great to see that the name was trending on Twitter too. Not enough Jack this season...

MadisonAvenue · 20/02/2021 10:01

I think Miguel’s background is the only one we’ve not yet seen much of? I know we’ve seen him as Jack’s colleague and good friend, and there was the meal with his adult kids but perhaps there’s not much more to tell about him?

Pl242 · 20/02/2021 21:45

I also thought it was Miguel’s parents. Yet again I was hoodwinked by trademark This is Us misdirection...

I do think they need to cover (and think producers have said that they will) how Rebecca and Miguel got back in touch and then ended up getting married.

I think in what we’ve seen so far there is a gap between Miguel being very much in their lives after Jack’s death and then him and Rebecca getting back in touch around the time Tess is born (so what, around 2006/8?). So we don’t know why he left Pittsburg and when? And crucially I don’t think we know how and when Rebecca and Miguel became a couple and got married?

It’s softened now but earlier on there was quite a bit of hostility/awkwardness from the big 3 towards him/his relationship with their mother.

Think there’s a lot to explore there. And Rebecca’s comments to Miguel in this episode, thanking him for all that he does for her, sets that up quite nicely I think.

Dockland · 20/02/2021 21:59

I agree, so much more to explore with Miguel. From what I remember @Pl242 Miguel and Rebecca met on Facebook. I think she was getting to grips with social media and found him on there. Given that Miguel's deceased wife Shelley was her best friend, I would really like to know how they got to the point of marriage and maybe even see their wedding day.

BobsDouble · 21/02/2021 20:47

This episode was a real return to form, I thought. I cried a lot.

For those looking for something similar I recommend Parenthood or Offspring. I came to This Is Us to cope with the trauma of having finished these. If you don’t mind subtitles then The Legacy (Danish) is similar and excellent.

I too assumed that the new couple were something to do with Miguel but the ages/time didn’t seem to quite work. Intriguing...

WaxOnFeckOff · 22/02/2021 16:22

I think they switched to Miguel a couple of times after excerpts about the new couple to get us into that mindset.

Scene with new couple (we think, "I wonder how they are connected?") then switch to miguel.... (brain thinks "oh must be something to do with miguel - wonder if that's his parents?....)

Job done... Smile

tbtf · 22/02/2021 19:51

I feel like the episode mentioned Rebecca and Miguel's honeymoon in Puerto Rico to remind us of Miguel's heritage? Reminding us we know his Dad wasn't Indian to keep us guessing about the story behind the two new people.

The line was about Rebecca drinking cocktails in Puerto Rico and I think Miguel is (or his parents are) from Puerto Rico? This might all be a massive stretch but that's what I thought.

tbtf · 22/02/2021 19:52

I know we know who the two new characters were and that they aren't recurring, it was a lovely tribute and an excellent thank you to them

tbtf · 25/02/2021 09:51

It's up, I'm 9 minutes in and I've cried already. A lot.

Sarcobaleno · 25/02/2021 11:47

Best episode in ages... roll on next week

EasterIssland · 25/02/2021 13:16

Best episode in ages... roll on next week
I preferred last weeks but looking forward to next one !
Pl242 · 25/02/2021 14:40

Another great episode. Won’t say any more at this stage Smile

User7538943 · 25/02/2021 18:10

Good episode, pity it looks like another 3 weeks until the next one

EasterIssland · 25/02/2021 18:53

Mandy gave birth this week. She said she was 37w when she filmed the one from yesterday so wonder how are they going to do it ... maybe few episodes without her ?

ThatsMe123 · 25/02/2021 20:45

I loved how the past, present and future were all tied together in this episode. Loved the moment between Kevin and his dad (and what followed).

Sleepyquest · 25/02/2021 22:33

I can't believe how much adult Deja looked like teen deja and spoke like her too!
