I just watched the end again. So Nicky is married (talking about getting stockings for “the wife”), and Kate is getting married to the Brit? Which means her and Toby have split up...

I thought at first watching that it was Madison’s wedding to Kevin but 5 years later but it is Kate’s - isn’t it?

I’m guessing that Nicky found Sally (think that was her name?) and they’re married, but then who knows with this series.

Kevin and Madison seemed to be getting on very well in the flash forward.

No no no. I'm.not having that. I love Toby. I know he is a bit of a dick sometimes, but noooo.

I’ve read something in Instagram about what is the last scenes we see. There is some speculation going on about whose wedding was if ... but bids sure whether i agree with it.

Yes there’s some theories circulating that the Brit is Madison’s brother and it is in fact Kevin and Madison’s wedding but I can’t see that being true. One, if he was related to Madison we’d know about it already. Two, there’s interviews with the creator and the actress who plays Kate talking about the fact that Kate and Toby split up.

But we don’t know if Kate and Madison are still around in the flash forward at rebecca’s bedside. Madison is at Kate’s wedding. She is her best friend and given Kevin and Madison share twins then she’d be around regardless at family stuff whether she is or isn’t the one Kevin is married to re his wedding ring at the flash forward at Rebecca’s deathbed.

I love that uncle Nicky appears to get married himself though.

Yeah - I guess they are just keeping up with current news/trends - but it's just a bit too much for my liking. Does EVERY family now have a gender confused DC? Not necessary or anything like real life.

Plus I watch tv shows to get away from real life. I don't need to hear about mask wearing or covid testing.

I will still watch it though as want to see what happens.

Overall...We watched the first three and a half series....started well, then became incredibly samey. It was the characters in exactly the same mode, playing out a scenario wit h exactly the same dynamic and inter=play no matter what period we were in. And "Katie-girl" - was she ever able to NOT make every situation about her and her needs?? Perhaps the most annoying tv character ever devised?

Not being able to stand the American emotional hyperbole and dodgem-riding...today we skipped to the end and watched the wedding one. Sure enough...all the characters were behaving in exactly the same manner as they were when we left one and a half series ago. Saved us about 25 hours of viewing time...

IF anyone hasn't been watching..SAVE YOURSELVES!! DON'T START! it's too late for us!

According to some people in ig it’s her wedding. Her renewing vows wirh Toby. It’s not her wedding to the teacher as many of us thought.

He’s madisons step brother and madison and Kevin are still together hence why the bil comment.

As said this is one ig theory.

He didn’t actually mention Kate, just that he’d spoken to Jack and ‘they’ were on their way.

Oh - I thought there was a question before that about Kate. Interesting then...

Do you think the whole family would have been so dysfunctional if either

*the third triplet hadn't died and they'd had three white children
OR
*The third triplet died and they just took two babies home, and didn't adopt Randall

Or if Jack hadn’t died so young @MrsFin!

I think the loss of the triplet would have loomed large perhaps without Randall or another adopted child (whatever their race). Mostly because they had already made the big 3 a huge deal ahead of the births.

I think Kate could have suffered more if she was “just” the twin to Kevin. He could have been even more egotistical without Randall.

I think the more interesting question would be if Randall would have been happier/better off being adopted by a black family or whether it would have been unfair on him to have been denied being part of the Pearson’s on grounds of race. Ie of course he could have been adopted by an equally loving black family but if that hasn’t worked out as well, would it have been unfair on him not to be part of a family who wanted him?

I wonder if the over eating, the alcoholism, and Randall's mental issues were partly due to being one of three. If they'd just been siblings, each would have been special in their own right, and not because they were part of a big three.

I don't think they are that dysfunctional but that may say more about my family! Issues yes, but they are all functioning, and all love each other despite differences. In general, dysfunction comes from the small things and small behaviours I think anyway. It's not about big events, but small ways of treating each other. So Jack had a more dysfunctional upbringing than the Big Three...

i loved kevin but then i heard about how he treated his wife in irl so gone right offher him. I used to like kate but god she is so self centred, obvioulsy has big issues with the mother because she cant seem to do anything right in her eyes. Only on series 3 so maybe that alll changes. I love Randell and the wife, and hope they dont spilt up....and Toby? Love him, eveyrone wants a toby in their life, (maybe not as husband but a friend/brother).
