Old thread full, so here we go again.

Going back to the last point on the old thread, I agree that they’re writing well for Tracy now. She’s still got her hard side, but they’ve made her caring in a straight talking way, rather than just a full-on bitch.

Actually I’ve checked they have reduced it! In London for a family it is £442 week not including CB. It is lower outside London £384. So another 85 week on top.

JamieLeeCurtains · 20/10/2020 14:20

Doesn't one of the quads have a disability? That's relevant too (personal experience). (Not of quads. Grin Of helping with DLA application and resulting exemptions).

JamieLeeCurtains · 20/10/2020 14:29

I reckon we could write an episode between us all, 'Gemma and Chesney: the Claim'.

Part 1, DLA.
Part 2, UC
Part 3, CTB
Part 4, NHS exemptions
Part 5, Family Fund grants
Part 6, Health Visitor-provided equipment application
Part 7, food bank / 'baby bank' referral
Part 8, Gemma doesn't have to go on the rob and go to jail in a ridiculous plotline after all, and a public service is performed.

Akire · 20/10/2020 14:30

Yes a disability would except them but he would be to young to claim. As babies their age would still need constant care anyway. It’s only above and beyond constant care for their age. They seem to have knocked learning sign language on the head and the hearing aids seemed to have fixed everything!

Akire · 20/10/2020 14:32

Ha yes that would be good storyline!

JamieLeeCurtains · 20/10/2020 14:44

@Akire, you're right about the mobility component, but I reckon I could have a punt at the lowest level (at least) of the daily care component, as it's about extra care compared to the 'norm'.

Bloody hell, I need to get a life.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 20/10/2020 14:57

What's CTB?

I wonder if they'll do a storyline when the quads are older about Bryn (is that the right quad and spelling?) getting cochlear implants. My relative has a child who is deaf and she got a lot of hate from her friends in the deaf community for getting him implants.

@TikTakTikTak

DH sat with me while I watched last night, he said Paul looked like a cartoon character. I can't unsee it now.
Yes, its the flat nose and quizzical expression. Someone on a thread many threads ago posted a pic of a cartoon that was the spit of Paul, but I can't find it now.
JamieLeeCurtains · 20/10/2020 15:06

CTB = Council Tax Benefit (or reduction). It's not included in 'Universal' Credit. You need to apply to the council.

Disability benefits are administered by the DWP, but it's a separate department (and computer system) to UC.

Anyone still on tax credits deals with HMRC.

Confused? You won't be, after this week's episode of Soap!

lollipoprainbow · 20/10/2020 15:38

@TikTakTikTak he looks like branch from Trolls !

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 20/10/2020 15:39

Thanks @JamieLeeCurtains I just couldn't work it out (even though I get it Grin).

lollipoprainbow · 20/10/2020 15:42

desperatehousewife21 · 20/10/2020 15:54

Hahaha fuck off he actually does! Grin

I’ve just today got a letter from HMRC to say we’ve been overpaid on our tax credits and owe them £100 Hmm brilliant timing in the run up to Xmas. We earn too much to get TC anymore which I am happy about because it’s nice to know we’re completely self sufficient (taken 10 years, working part time, having kids etc) so I feel quite settled now. Sorry this is completely off topic.

The David/ Shona storyline is so annoying more because he just gets cross with her all the time it’s like he wasn’t listening when she was trying to explain how her brain works now, if he just listened and understood it would have saved him storming out the house in a huff. Social worker guy sitting there like a numpty as well, being no help.

EachandEveryone · 20/10/2020 17:00

Well, i was bored so i filled in an entitled for jemma surely thats not bad on top of their earnings.

Also they could move into a four bedroomed job as they are entitled to £220 a week rent.

Ive even found them a house 😂😂😂www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/98687255#/media?id=media2

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 20/10/2020 17:05

I was tempted to do the same @EachandEveryone Grin
I think PPs are right though and they own their house. So if they sell they won't get a mortgage for a bigger place, but would (i assume) then have too much in the bank to qualify for any benefits.
Maybe Billy could accept his new job but let them have the house it comes with, assuming its bigger than where they live. Then him and his bag can move into Ches and Gemma's house. As the vicarage isn't in the street hopefully we won't see as much of Gemma and the quads .

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 20/10/2020 17:06

Also that house you found them is almost 50% cheaper than my 2 bed terrace Shock

EachandEveryone · 20/10/2020 17:32

I know shall we all move in😃😃😃

I have no idea about the area. Probably student central.

MsMiaWallace · 20/10/2020 17:39

I think how crowded that house is!
Imagine when the babies are toddling about!!

eddiemairswife · 20/10/2020 17:41

How old are the quads?

Smallsteps88 · 20/10/2020 17:56

They must be due a birthday soon

mincepiesalready · 20/10/2020 19:03

I’m so sick of Gemma screaming!

SoPanny · 20/10/2020 20:00

@lollipoprainbow

Paul !
aaaand I’m dead
Honeyroar · 20/10/2020 21:25

Yes the twins must be one by now.

I also laughed at Eileen hollering upstairs to Tod that the coast was clear one second after Mary had closed the door. As if she wouldn’t have heard.

TikTakTikTak · 20/10/2020 21:27

@lollipoprainbow

Paul !
Grin
Deadringer · 20/10/2020 21:38

Les didn't own the house, he rented it from the council, Chesney took over renting it when Les left, he definitely doesn't own it.
