Old thread full, so here we go again.

Going back to the last point on the old thread, I agree that they’re writing well for Tracy now. She’s still got her hard side, but they’ve made her caring in a straight talking way, rather than just a full-on bitch.

@excelledyourself

Eileen screeching on Todd the very second Mary shut the door. She'd have totally heard that. Confused
Yes; this was the door through which Gary heard Mick getting aggressive with Todd last week!
Clawdy · 19/10/2020 22:50

@EggsFried

Absolutely ridiculous. As if Eileen would invite gangster Mick into her house when he was pointing a gun at her last time he was there. The way she said "This needs sorting, both of you, inside" was like they were kids who'd had a fight in the playground. And there's no way her talking to him would have got him to let Todd off the hook when he was trying to kill him in the last episode.
This summed up that ridiculous scene perfectly.
BreconBeBuggered · 19/10/2020 23:29

Ah, you've missed the big clues in the fake funeral/exorcism scenes. Todd is actually dead, and could appear instantaneously from the attic Rentaghost stylee because he was only there in spirit, and merely had to scrunch up his eyes and hold his nose before melting through the floor.

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/10/2020 00:20

I've now got the Rentaghost theme tune as an earworm, so thanks for that. Grin

eggandonion · 20/10/2020 11:40

Is Billy still attracted to Todd? Despite everything? Now I feel sorry for Paul.

Clawdy · 20/10/2020 11:45

What was that ridiculous bit about the villains parenting a baby girl? Did I miss something?

JamieLeeCurtains · 20/10/2020 12:11

Todd is supposedly some kind of man magnet, I think.

Holy Billy has never really got the hang of the temptation part of religion.

eggandonion · 20/10/2020 12:20

I think when the villain baby arrives, Eileen should be godmother and Billy do the christening.
That would put the cat among the pigeons.

TikTakTikTak · 20/10/2020 12:25

DH sat with me while I watched last night, he said Paul looked like a cartoon character.
I can't unsee it now.

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/10/2020 12:49

The old Todd was quite attractive, the new one not so much.

eddiemairswife · 20/10/2020 13:12

The new Todd has an instantly forgettable face.
Paul's face has a 'squashed sideways' look about it.

Akire · 20/10/2020 13:18

Most clergy would expect to be celibate or married. In the past as a gay man they may have turned a blind eye as they couldn’t get married, but now they can! They have missed a trick with him doing zoom sermons. He does very little work apart from organise bring and buy sales.

Just when the gangster plot couldn’t get any worse his husband is setting on anyone who calls them for trying sleep with him. Pleaseeeeeeee!

Someone should give Gemma the number for the DWP. They are a family of 7 excluding grandma their UC credit would be sufficient to buy washing up liquid!!!

JamieLeeCurtains · 20/10/2020 13:23

Universal Credit would be the logical solution, in a normal world. Multiple births aren't included in the 2-child limit, are they?

MsMiaWallace · 20/10/2020 13:36

Makes me laugh how he keeps hiding behind his mum.

MsMiaWallace · 20/10/2020 13:37

Todd that is ^^

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 20/10/2020 13:42

"If your terraced house needs haunting, just call Rent-A-Todd" Grin

I would imagine Ches and Gemma would be getting a fair bit in UC with 5 children to feed and clothe. 2 child limit doesn't apply to multiple births.

excelledyourself · 20/10/2020 13:49

Who owns the house that Gemma, etc live in? Even if Bernie moves out, they can't possibly stay there?

I'm sure there was talk about needing an extension, but I can't remember the outcome. Does Chesney own that house or do they rent?

Smallsteps88 · 20/10/2020 13:50

I forget why Todd disappeared in the first place. (I know the actor was in trouble with the police) was he in debt or legal trouble?

JamieLeeCurtains · 20/10/2020 13:51

They'd get rent mostly paid; council tax reduction; adult allowances; children's allowances; free adult prescriptions etc; and a food bank referral if they wanted. That's what UC and CTB are there for, especially during Covid-19.

It seems mad that the Corrie writers who brought us Top-Knot Man have never heard of it. Oh wait ...

Smallsteps88 · 20/10/2020 13:52

I think chesney owns the house but I’m not sure how. His mum was married to Les battersby who owned it before so maybe Les and Cilla sold it to him in exchange for a dog lead?

Akire · 20/10/2020 13:56

It’s just lazy story writing isn’t it. If they work or not UC will give them chunk of income because there is 7 of them. If they work they don’t get hit by £500 week cap. Which mostly effects those like London who’s rent might well be £400 a week to start with. It doesn’t cost 7 times the price to heat a home. The more you have the more economical it is.

excelledyourself · 20/10/2020 13:59

What about Fiz and Tyrone? Did he inherit that house from Jack and Vera? Or a big wad of cash? They're another pair always pleading poverty, which I don't understand.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 20/10/2020 14:01

Smallsteps as far as I remember Summer’s gran was trying to take her back so Todd decided they should go on the lam with summer but Billy wouldn’t so Todd went off with her himself (and then she came back)

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 20/10/2020 14:01

The benefit cap isn't £500!

Smallsteps88 · 20/10/2020 14:06

Ahh yes this rings a bell. Thank you.
