Old thread full, so here we go again.

Going back to the last point on the old thread, I agree that they’re writing well for Tracy now. She’s still got her hard side, but they’ve made her caring in a straight talking way, rather than just a full-on bitch.

Gangster man was in the film Dead Man’s Shoes - that’s what I recognise him from.

Last night’s ep was terrible. The Shona stuff just isn’t working. They’re obviously trying to go for cute/funny but it’s too wide of the mark, plus Shona just can’t do comedy. It doesn’t help that Shona and David have never convinced me as a couple - no chemistry at all.

Roussette · 17/10/2020 14:01

I know why I keep watching.

  1. Habit. Why give up the habit of a lifetime!
  2. So I can come on this thread pick it to pieces, crack weak jokes that only I laugh at, and moan about the episode I've just watched

Yep. That's me too.

thenightsky · 17/10/2020 14:22

It sounds mean, but I really think they should have killed Shona off when she was shot. This is now the worse excuse for a period of maternity leave since Fizz went to Brum.

RAOK · 17/10/2020 14:29

David and Shona should’ve just split up for a bit and then got back together!

woodhill · 17/10/2020 14:36

I felt frustrated with David's apathy over the haircut incident

Wouldn't he want to build up his business and need to keep his good reputation.

He doesn't seem to have any money worries?? Big hole to fill in garden

JamieLeeCurtains · 17/10/2020 17:08

Also anyone find it funny when those 'gangsters' just left Gary with a mucky face & upturned rattan sofa?

God yes. "The victim of drug-related violence was found having a lie-down beneath a small chintz cushion, Sarge, " said no-one, ever.

Rafflesway · 17/10/2020 17:38

Last night's episode was beyond crap!

The gangster guy just reminds me of a scrawny pantomime dame/ Fagin from Oliver Twist (Ron Moody), the Todd character is dire and Eileen's acting this week has been equally so.

Craig must be knackered as he is a one man police force! Why in God's name is Johnny scared of telling Jenny about his past misdemeanours? Correct me if I'm wrong but she has hardly been the female equivalent of Archangel Gabriel in the past either. 🙄

Evelyn has worked for Dev for less than 2 years so wouldn't have employment/redundancy rights and he would know that.

What on earth would a "Made in Chelsea" type be doing in Coronation Street? Plus, as if he would trust a back street barber with his hair if he normally uses a celebrity stylist. 🙄

Who are these crappy writers?

JamieLeeCurtains · 17/10/2020 17:57

Evelyn has worked for Dev for less than 2 years so wouldn't have employment/redundancy rights and he would know that.

That was pitiful, wasn't it? 'I'll type up me redundancy terms' while Arthur looked on adoringly.

I'm surprised Maureen Lipman agreed to say it. It's so wrong.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 17/10/2020 18:09

Also, realistically she would probably be working cash in hand.

Hang on, yes!
She kidnapped Jack and went on the run with him. She is no saint!

"The victim of drug-related violence was found having a lie-down beneath a small chintz cushion, Sarge, " said no-one, ever."

Haha! I can only presume that the make up artists can't do make up cos of covid... but still, he could've just smeared a bit of tomato sauce somewhere himself surely?

woodhill · 17/10/2020 18:27

Yes and it was when he was a teenager, tell Scott to jog on, wouldn't Jenny detect Johnny's dislike of Scott

Deadringer · 17/10/2020 18:37

I think its a bit unfair to say that we have never seen Billy in his church, we did once, he was shooting up heroin with some scumbag. 🙄 It was just ridiculous the way Dev came ranting into the Bistro, shouting about nonsense. And for the love of god, please, Shona needs to go.

DipSwimSwoosh · 17/10/2020 18:51

I want to live there to see out Covid. The only place you wear a mask UNTIL you get in a shop or cafe.

DipSwimSwoosh · 17/10/2020 18:52

That was a toy first aid box. And another comedy gulp.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 17/10/2020 20:50

Totally forgot about Billy’s drug addiction! Never mentioned again

TheRogueApostrophe · 17/10/2020 21:19

Just caught up with Friday's episode. FFS Shona. She does something ridiculously childish then insinuates that she wants to have sex. It's so wrong.

TheRogueApostrophe · 17/10/2020 21:26

As if Ray would build a high end business park in an old terraced street. Really??

Optimist1 · 18/10/2020 00:58

@TheRogueApostrophe

As if Ray would build a high end business park in an old terraced street. Really??
It has echoes of Donald Trump and his Trump Towers enterprise - run down neighbourhood quickly gentrified by the building of a prestigious centrepiece. Ray's attitude to women has a whiff of the Orange One about it, too. And we've yet to see him wear a mask!!
Ritascornershop · 18/10/2020 04:36

Can anyone remind me why Billy had a drug problem? At the time I remember thinking it was totally out of character at the time. And yes, I’d really like to see Billy doing some actual church work, it would be good to see him even doing inter-faith work. Could he be supporting a parent and tots group? Homeless breakfast van? Lonely old people? Anything?

SoPanny · 18/10/2020 06:53

Just here to join the chorus of derision about what an utter bucket of arse gravy Friday’s episodes were.

Seriously.

TheRogueApostrophe · 18/10/2020 07:30

We did see Billy doing a food for homeless thing Ritascornershop but only when Sean was momentarily homeless, of course!

PoloNeckKnickers · 18/10/2020 07:31

Didn't Billy get addicted to painkillers after Peter Barlow pushed him off a cliff for killing Susan and Adam tampered with his medication and weaned him onto hard drugs as an act of revenge? I wonder if he'll have an Abi style relapse when his new job gets too much?

Thesearmsofmine · 18/10/2020 09:45

I forgot about Billy and the drug addiction and Adam/Peter/Susan.

It is terrible right now. The Shona story is just bizarre and like something and something dreamed up by high school drama students. It’s like they wrote it but didn’t think ahead about where the story would go once she returned and now they are just stuck with it(until she makes a miraculous recovery and it is never mentioned again).

I’m amazed that we haven’t seen seen Gemma, they could have shown her vlogging and doing those virtual playgroups how it helped other mums during lockdown.

MsMiaWallace · 18/10/2020 09:55

Ray had his mask on once when he went into Gary's shop.
He took it off quickly though in true Corrie fashion to talk.
