Agree Mick could have been a great partner for someone genuine. He’s a bit like Simon in some ways.

He is. Heart of gold type with communication issues. I’ll miss his Australianisms. They might be my favourite thing about this series.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 07:47

Although I wasn’t impressed by his best man’s speech - whether true or not I would be hurt by a friend saying something like that in front of everyone.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 02/10/2020 08:57

@RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder

I’ve watched quite far and think the producers have got their scripting all wrong this episode. It’s astonishing how often the “bad guys” all use the exact same language to justify what they’re doing (I keep thinking I’m hearing DaviNO or DaviNA, but no).

You can’t rotate the same script within the same series! It just sounds stupid and your characters lack believability!

@SchadenfreudePersonified they really need us to sort them out and come up with some better plot lines. Let’s face it, what we really want is for the gits to get to the end and be remorseful and go on to be better people, and for the couples who don’t click immediately to have their love grow exponentially and be together forever.

Watching Ines gets boring, watching lovely Jules and Cam gets boring, we want character development like Alene and Simon but with a happily ever after too.

I agree that Mick deserves a lot better. He’s mostly lovely and could have been paired with someone that pushed him to reveal his emotions. It would have been lovely to see him learn to open up and not hide behind his humour. But no. He gets put with the queen of Insta

Totally agree. For sure you and Schaden would have done a million times better. I'm all ugh when I see Cam and Jules now. Never happy, last season I wanted people to be in love. They just say the same stuff all the time all that's changing is their clothes.

Just an FYI Rinder and Schaden I'd be happy to be matched with Mick too in your series.

I’m just so sick of the announcer saying “In an MAFS first..!” when it’s really just slightly different. I either want it to be properly shocking - rather than people just being selfish - or a beautiful love story that develops over time.

A shock revelation that one of them already has a secret family and the wife turning up to his “work trip”... maybe. One of them turning out to be a kangaroo in a human suit... now you’re talking! But not more “oh I secretly fancy one of the other men more than my own one and I came here for love so I’m following my heart... NOOOOOO!

MissMarplesHandbag · 02/10/2020 10:00

@RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder - totally agree with you. As always. We need you and @SchadenfreudePersonified to defo do your own Mumsnet MAFS show!
Even the ‘MAFS worldwide first’ was quite frankly a bit shit. (No spoilers for those who may not have made it that far yet).
The producers need to get back to the MAFS premise, weed out the fame hungry Instagram-wannabes and rejuvenate the format (ie no more wifeswapping shit).

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 10:06

@MissMarplesHandbag oh yes the worldwide first was so frustrating. There was no benefit to any of the couples at all to do it like that, it was just the producers going “there’s usually a lull at this point so let’s do this to spice things up”. They hadn’t banked on Cyrelle being spicy enough!

Stuffofawesome · 02/10/2020 11:27

They have a weird idea of honesty. How many times are we hearing "I'm just being honest" while being deceitful selfish arseholes? Agree getting repetitive.
Ning is having a reasonable story arc

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 11:28

So true. “I’m just being honest” is not true if you have just lied to your partner to sneak out and date someone else.

I really like Ning. She’s a fragile soul under that tough exterior.

BloggersBlog · 02/10/2020 11:33

Love Cyrelle in the commitment cere-moany where she lets rip!!

Is it just me (probably) but Ning - 32??? No way, I'm thinking 32 plus VAT maybe

The ixperts are pretty good this series I think, they are asking quite probing things and not letting as much being got away with

WitchesNStuff · 02/10/2020 11:43

I'd happily be matched to Mick, I like that he looks like he's just got out of bed Wink

I definitely warmed to Ning, IMO the way she has worked qt things is what the show should genuinely be about. Not sure they are well matched though.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/10/2020 11:48

I’ll miss his Australianisms. They might be my favourite thing about this series.

Has Mick gone? Was he the one who was matched with Jissika?

Yes - Rinder and I would have made a better job of it.

We would have matched the genuine love seekers with each other, and all the drama-llamas together is one big promiscuous heap, and focussed the cameras on the screaming and infidelity while the real people had a chance to get to now each other and perhaps even start to fall in love without a camera recording every time they so much as f*rted.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 12:00

Mick (or Crocodile Dundee as he’s known in this house) hasn’t gone yet (as far as I’ve watched), but I will miss him when it’s over. I should have been clearer.

And yes I quite like the just rolled out of bed look too. I hate anything too polished.

I had no idea Ning was 32 either!

So many surprises - none of them plotted by the team.

Schadenfreude they really need us.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 12:06

I’ve got to admit something too; although baldy is still not wonderful by any means, I do think he’s made a big effort to change throughout all this. He’s still a selfish git and it’s never going to work, but there’s definite progress there. Which we don’t often see amongst the men.

MissMarplesHandbag · 02/10/2020 12:08

Yes, I don’t think they expected Cyrell to be quite so ‘fiery’ in her words (massive understatement - she’s like a nuclear bomb!)

Mick Crocodile Dundee - is a great Mickname, love it!

Ning and Mark are doing well. She’s come really far from their wedding day, thankfully. And he’s done well to respond positively to that. I have high hopes for them.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 12:15

I worry that he’s been single too long. He’s very lovely and easy going, but I’m not sure he’ll ultimately be able to fit into Ning’s life. But hopefully whatever happens they will both be more open to having a relationship in the future.

Egghead68 · 02/10/2020 13:21

I like Ning too although I’d easily add 10 years to her age (maybe having a child young aged her). She seems very genuine and caring.

I like Cyrell as well although I couldn’t deal with the anger issues. I enjoyed the scene with her home cooked Philippino food (won’t say more in case of spoilers).

I don’t know what I think about Baldy. I think he is condescending to women but does seem to be making a decent effort with his partner despite an unpromising start.

Cards on the table time; I am very envious of Heidi’s hair and need to know how she does it.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 18:11

And yes I too have a real soft spot for Cyrell

Egghead I don’t think I’ve told you how much I love your thread title! It’s a corked hat (which is like a corker but more aussie)

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 18:22

Finally worked out who Dan reminds me of; Wreck it Ralph. He’s all square from head down.

MissMarplesHandbag · 02/10/2020 18:49

I also love Heidi’s hair. Serious hair envy.

BloggersBlog · 02/10/2020 19:02

I love her hair too, just wondering what she uses on it. Mine is similar colour and waves but would love to know how hers looks in such good condition

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/10/2020 19:16

Is Heidi BaldyTw*t's Curley Girl?

If so, I am also green with tonsorial envy.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 02/10/2020 19:36

Yup. I have curly hair that couldn’t hope to reach Heidi’s heights Envy
