(P.S. I have already speed-watched the series but have forgotten most of it (menopausal brain) so will rewatch).

This can be a benefit Eggers - I've re-read books and re-watched films, convinced I've never read/seen them before, only to remember 3 pages/mins before that end that actually I have, but I've still spent a happy couple of hours in blissful ignorance of the fact, enjoying the story. Saved me a fortune in books and DVDs, though it's bit frustrating just as you get to the end when the whole lot comes flooding back.

What do we think of Melissa?

Well - appearance-wise the men are a distinct improvement on the usual run-of-the-mill-averages with the occasional oooh-lovely!, but they all look up themselves - there's a lot of male arrogance there .

The women are a very glam bunch, too. I've forgotten all of the names already, but the wedding dresses are uniformly awful IMO (I would say IMHO, but I'm not H by any means).

Martha looks dangerous, Melissa looks like a stalker, Elizabeth looks predatory, and Ines looks slightly ratted.

However when we actually meet them, I may change my mind about everything (except the dresses).

Green fluffy slippers- this promises well.

But - I don't think people's children should be shown. Yes - mention that they have a family, but don't put them on screen.

All the men are sort of posturing when they walk in - shoulders back, arms as though they have a sheep under each armpit, fixed grin "Good-on-yer-mate" attitude, back-slapping, lager bottle-clinking . . .

Ines looks like an escort . . .

She complains because they welcome her - then makes faces when the focus of attention shifts to someone else

I really feel for whoever gets Ines. She's got to be really hard work to live with. Definitely has a whiff of DaviNa about her.
