It was Mike and Heidi who made me blub. There was something very real and new about their feelings for each other. It was one of those relationships that can never work but the love is absolutely real.

I was so disappointed in Mike on the last episode where he made it clear that he’s just as misogynistic as ever, but he really did love Heidi and I think with better advice from the ixperts they might have stood more of a chance.

They ended up being my favourite couple, even though I hated him at the beginning and don’t like his view to women at all. I’m as surprised as anyone. I think it was watching someone in their forties fall in love for the first time. There was an innocence to it.

Michael and Martha only work because he does what she wants. He’s a nice bloke, but not nice enough or strong enough to stand up for his principles against her. I think they live a nice life on her parents money.

Did anyone catch the conversation between Jess and Martha about their parents bankrolling them? Jess was clearly pretending and made some comment about how daddy forces hundreds of dollars on her, whilst Martha grinned at the idea of only hundreds. It was really horrible. I can’t imagine being proud of being a parasite with nothing of my own.

WitchesNStuff · 23/10/2020 08:11

Ah Rinder, I thought it might have been. I was shocked, it really got me.

I completely missed that conversation, they really aren't nice people Sad

Egghead68 · 23/10/2020 11:07

I agree about the raw emotion between Mike and Heidi and it made me cry too. However I am glad she didn’t stay with him. I think he would have completely undermined her mental health.

Yes, absolutely. I think they both learnt things that will help them have better relationships in the future, but they were not meant to be long term.

@WitchesNStuff I rarely cry at anything, but they totally got me. And no, those two are from different sides of the scale of privilege, but both are awful humans. I hope they decide to be better.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 23/10/2020 18:02

I do have to admit that I still enjoyed this series. I think people revealed things they didn’t mean to - Jess is an emotional wreck, Ines needs real support, Sam has a stupid face, Mick is blardy awesome... if I hadn’t already had wine I’d go on (sorry, Wales has officially entered lockdown drinking rules Grin)

Still going (don’t mind the spoilers though!)
I didn’t know there were 41 episodes...!
Might be done by Monday I reckon.

Verdita73 · 25/10/2020 10:42

@MissMarplesHandbag

I still haven’t finished! My goal is to finish tomorrow. Sorry *@Verdita73* it was me who said Troy & Dean reappeared (but I didn’t go so far as to say as pot plants - I didn’t mean to lead you on 🤨).
You’re totally forgiven Handbag .Grin

I was really only intrigued by how they could slot in with the action in this series .

I’m on ep 4 of series 7 and getting sucked in . I’m SO weak willed . But the Australian scenery is worth watching it for . Grin

Please let me know if anyone starts a thread .

Verdita73 · 25/10/2020 11:14

I’m glad that so many people agree with me about the intensity of Mike and Heidi’s relationship . The other pairs’ relationships , apart from Cam and Jules , seemed so one dimensional.

I’m going to stick my neck out ( rather than having backs and raising walls ) to continue in my belief that given time and some guidance it could have worked .

No one has a perfect relationship, it’s all up and down , good and bad - periods of calm and periods of stormy seas . I think being older and wiser they could have been willing to work on the marriage .

It was the integrity of their feelings for one another that made some of us tearful when it ended .Because that wasn’t faked .

Yes , Mike was an arrogant sod and Heidi was thin skinned and given to too much introspection .

I’ve known marriages with much less going for them work , because both parties wanted it to be successful .

I keep getting spoilers on this thread so I'm going to stop reading now until I've finished.

Just on episode 17 think that's the third commitment ceremony so will see how that goes

MissMarplesHandbag · 25/10/2020 20:51

Martha and Jess ‘bitch, tell me everything’ - eugghhhhh.
Martha does my head in. Self-righteous, whiney spoilt child-woman.

WhenPushComesToShove · 25/10/2020 22:55

I'd love to see Martha take a long walk off a short pier... can't stand her to put it extremely mildly!

MissMarplesHandbag · 25/10/2020 23:44

Ha ha @WhenPushComesToShove
She is extremely annoying

Sertchgi123 · 26/10/2020 09:13

Still watching, tonight it’s the dinner party where it all comes apart.

MissMarplesHandbag · 26/10/2020 09:44

I finished late last night and I agree with you re Mike and Heidi. It was, surprisingly emotional. But they were just fundamentally too different. Perfectly evidenced on the last date - a boat trip he wanted to do, when she’d already told him she disliked boats and got sea sick. Then when they were walking past the Harbour Bridge and he said “let’s climb that one day” she said she she had no interest in doing so, seconds later he said yes, we must do it. He just did not listen or hear her. Frustrating for both of them. He also couldn’t see when he was in the wrong, about anything (I don’t think the ixperts helped here).
Jess - eugghhhh. Horrible person. No redeeming features at all. Only out for herself. Vicious, manipulative, lying, self-serving vacuous fame-hungry horror.
Can’t stand Martha either.
Ines sort of redeemed herself. Needs help though.
Sam - spineless shit. He looked shocking!
Overall, very enjoyable, I just wish the producers could filter out the ones who aren’t in it for genuine reasons as I think it would make it less screechy.

Some interesting tidbits here!

One thing she mentions is that one of the guys is edited to look much nicer than he really is, who do we think that would be? Nic? Mick?

Ny money would be on Dino, there was something about him that made my spidey senses tingle. Who knows it might even be Cam, they pretty much only showed him as the nicest guy ever.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/10/2020 13:35

Jules and Cam got married and had a baby very recently.

Hooray!

I only watched bout two episodes, ut I thought they were lovely!

SaltandPepperIt · 27/10/2020 14:16

I reckon she is talking about Mick not being as nice as he is edited to be. She was great in that, so open and seemed lovely

Nic I think. He was up to shenanigans with Jessika in a lift. He also texted the other boys about how good he’d made himself look in the scene with Jessika when he said he’s not interested because he’s married.

WitchesNStuff · 28/10/2020 08:16

Oh my, I was totally taken in by Nic, I absolutely believed him re Jess. I dont understand why they edited like that. What an idiot.

To be fair even if she comes across nice there was still no getting round how she treated Mick though.

Egghead68 · 28/10/2020 17:01

I definitely don’t think Jess comes across as nice!

OP posts:
RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 29/10/2020 06:44

Oh god no! I stand by my assertion that Jess is a poor man’s Ines. At least Ines has style and conviction! Jess wanted anything in trousers as long as it wasn’t Mick.

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 29/10/2020 06:46

I also felt that Mike got unfairly blamed for Jess’s choice to sleep with Mick. It’s not a terrible thing to say that sleeping with someone can help shift things up a gear. I thought it was weird when they all blamed him when she did it and didn’t like it. As though she had no autonomy and no say in the matter. It was all a bit odd.

Egghead68 · 29/10/2020 08:10

I think all Jess wanted was publicity.
