This is what I mean about the staging. Before Nasser and Gab went up, they were sitting closely, his arm on her legs. Then when in the couch they appear ultra frosty.

I agree . I noticed the interactions between them when they were being filmed and when they were not . They were completely different . At times Gab and Nasser seemed completely at ease in contradiction to their story line .

Yes . It came out of nowhere , didn’t it ? I think everyone , viewers included , were embarrassed . I imagine their sexual encounter the other night was a bit like that . “Wham , bang , thank you , ma’am “ as the saying went . Just to be able to say that they’d ‘done it’ .

Verdita, I totally agree. Most of the fun of watching has been this thread and a bit of distraction from the somewhat shit realities of Covid, Brexit and all things similar. Nasser looked about ready to explode with rage, I couldn’t stand to spend another week with him.

Also wish they would show us more of Patrick and Charlene, she keeps talking about how emotional he is but we never see it.

Gabby thinks she’s taking control and punishing him by writing stay. It might just backfire on her having to stay with him another week. I guess if she sits up in the night and shrieks “ghost” a few times he will run off to a hotel and she’ll get some peace!

I like Gabby too but sticking about is just ridiculous. She must have had some kind of incentive to stick about. He's a total twat and she knows it yet won't be honest to his face on the couch.

I'm wondering if the production company has put a massive clause in their contracts that impacts them financially if they break the "if one partner writes stay, both have to stay" rule. Because so many seem to genuinely to feel some compulsion to abide by this rule

Perhaps Gabby knows that he will lose money if he walks so that might give her sense of control / revenge? I just can't see why dhe would do it otherwise.

I've also noticed that some couples act differently on the group sofa as compared to when up at the front or even being filmed at the flats etc. Ryan kept putting his arm around behind Davino and I kept wondering why he would want to appear to be open to her in any way after the whole Deano debacle was uncovered

I am fairly sure yes otherwise why would Ryan have stayed the course. Although I mentioned previously that it was grossly unfair that Tracey was allowed to change her mind yet Ryan wasn't, after hearing of Dean and Davina's affair. They producers really wanted to keep Davina in, so Ryan also had to stay.

What is it with Australian women mining truck drivers ?
There have been a couple on the show .

I’ve just watched the lovely Nasser on the “link” mentioned , on Australia First Dates . He’s matched with a 54 year old female truck driver who recognises him from MAFS .
He spends a reasonable amount of moaning about how he was portrayed , as well as mentioning his fascination with nails and shopping.
They agree to meet again but according to newspaper reports this doesn’t happen as they believe he already has a girl friend .

I think Gabby wants to stay because

1. She is desperate, utterly desperate for love
2. She is a people pleaser supreme and needs to find a bit of decent anger
3. She hopes the extra exposure will help her career

I think Gabby isn’t strong enough to walk away but knows she should so she is trying to make it seem like she has a reason.

Justin and that horrible snog, which took Carly totally by surprise and I think her instinct was to push him off, but because they were on telly, she fought that impulse and just lay back and thought of MAFS.

Last series - Abandrew lunged at Cheryl and she effectively went "Eeeew! NO!" and shoved him away

One of the other ones (his name escapes me) tried to kiss his bride goodnight and she wouldn't, but he kept trying for 'just a goodnight kiss'

Even the lovely Simon (be still, my heart) did a "diving" kiss of Alene's cheek near the end of the series, and she wasn't happy ("Don't my Mum is watching!"), though she relented slightly and pecked him back.

Only series 4 Sean and Susan seemed suctioned onto each other's faces in any sort of normal (for teenagers) way.

There is obviously some kind of blue print which is followed by the producers to get maximum TV ratings .

I imagine hopeful brides and grooms fill in an application form with their best/worst traits and then are chosen after a TV screening . I guess they are given ‘story lines’ to follow which allows some , but not much , input by the participants .

Some people are so desperate for their 15 minutes of TV fame/exposure that they don’t think about how their portrayal could affect their future .

Almost without exception the brides are very attractive women - the men , not so . Although that’s obviously a very personal opinion .

I agree - "average and below blokes cop off with hot babes" would be a more accurate title - and I think this is why Miserable Sean was so pee'd when he was paired with Jo - a woman close to him in age and also a bigger girl than he was expecting (she has a lovely face, though). He really thought this was his one and only chance in life to pull someone like Ashley or Charlene or even the poisonous DaviNA.

I agree he was a miserable arse who was appallingly rude to Jo who absolutely didn't deserve it. But I found Jo's personality as difficult to cope with as some aspects of Troy's. I find "larger than life" characters difficult. They may (or may not) be lovely people but I feel overwhelmed just watching them let alone spending 24/7.
