@Honeyroar

Why is Dev suddenly so skint? Is it the school fees?

Yes, I guess school fees for two can't come cheap.

Chesney said "you have three businesses Dev..." - grocers shop, kebab shop and what have I forgotten?

eggandonion · 07/09/2020 20:35

Does he own a chip shop?

PennyRoyal · 07/09/2020 20:51

@eggandonion

Does he own a chip shop?
Yes, you're right. A little Googling tells me he owns "For Your Fries Only" which is next to the Medical Centre and managed by Chesney. Have we ever been in there? They usually eat their chippy-tea on the bench outside Audrey's!
Optimist1 · 07/09/2020 20:59

Please could someone send Shona back for some more rehabilitation? She's doing my head in!

Honeyroar · 07/09/2020 21:06

Yes the Shona storyline is pathetic. Put her back into a coma please!!

eggandonion · 07/09/2020 21:13

I'd love a bag of chips. If he manages the chip shop, Chesney has a job? He could buy the kebab shop.
Sorted.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 07/09/2020 21:19

I liked the little chat between Geoff and Tim.. especially that part where Tim called Geoff a piece of shit that never took the time to teach him to read...
Oh wait.. that didn't happen did it? Silly me..

How long can they string along the Geoff story? Please let him be found out.

Let Shona get bumped on the head again and Sean

Give Mary a decent story

Clawdy · 07/09/2020 22:14

If Mary had a decent story, she'd make a dreadful mess of it.

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/09/2020 22:40

Yes, this whole Tim's childhood thing is annoying.

He was illiterate when he rocked up in Corrie. But Geoff isn't uneducated, is he?

Tim's supposedly not dyslexic, he 'just never got taught'.

It's bonkers.

As I recall, all it took was Anna and a few scenes to teach tim to read and it's not mentioned anymore. If I was Tim or the characters behaved in a realistic and natural way, Tim would absolutely be blaming Geoff.

No mention of gcse results for Amy?

eggandonion · 07/09/2020 23:35

Did Tim go to school or did Geoff keep him at home?

JamieLeeCurtains · 08/09/2020 00:10

@eggandonion

Did Tim go to school or did Geoff keep him at home?
Presumably in a cupboard learning nothing, which Tim has miraculously forgotten. A bit like forgetting his Vegas wedding, his lack of divorce, finding Yasmeen trapped in the magic box of doom and Faye telling him that granddad was a right old shite.
ellenanora5 · 08/09/2020 01:05

I posted on the previous about Tim being illiterate and how Anna helped him and it was never mentioned again in the show, so it drives me mad how Tim hasn't brought it up, also never brings up the fact that he abandoned Faye and her mother and left them to it, Faye didn't know her father for years so didn't know Geoff for longer yet it's all "Grandad" and my "Grandaughter"

Chesney and Cathy can feck off as well with their what about us Dev, I've five kids to think about Dev, and what the hell happened to Cathys house, the one where she was a hoarder but was all of a sudden cured, she would have got a good price for that when she sold it, and Brian can't be skint either he was able to put up money for the Kabin.

If Dev needs to raise money to support his own children then he has to do what is necessary, mind you I would have flung that little shit out into the street regardless of him threatening me with the police or whatever he said.

Fair play to Sally for holding her nerve with Geoff, I was never so happy to see a book Grin

ellenanora5 · 08/09/2020 01:06

Oh sorry that was a bit of a rant Blush

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 08/09/2020 01:15

Didn't Tim abandon Faye and her mum and then she was adopted by Gary's parents? Then Tim turned up in the street as some kind of weird stalker, admitted who he was and everyone lived happily ever after.

Willowmartha1 · 08/09/2020 01:49

@ellenanora5 Cathy is so annoying ! A right busy body. She doesn't need the money either as you say.

JemimaTab · 08/09/2020 05:17

I thought Tim turned up originally because he and Fay had made contact on Facebook? (Although later on they decided he couldn’t read).

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 08/09/2020 05:25

Yes you're right. Faye tracked him down somehow.

Roussette · 08/09/2020 06:18

So Sally has his laptop then... of course there won't be a password on it like most people, or if there is, it will be something like 'Yasmeen' or similar so that Sally can crack it Grin

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 08/09/2020 08:22

You rant away, it's one of the best things about watching Corrie, ranting about the nonsense of it all.

With Tim
I was reading his bio on the Corrie wiki.
Apparently and I'd forgotten this, Day and he were at one point communicating by email... Then a few months later he's illiterate.. he also has two brothers apparently.

Optimist1 · 08/09/2020 08:52

You'd imagine the actors themselves might point out glaring inconsistencies in their storylines when being given their scripts. I would.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 08/09/2020 08:57

Was Tim totally illiterate? As in couldn't read at all. I ask because I have a friend who I would class as illiterate. She can 'do Facebook (although deciphering her posts is sometimes a little tricky) and can manage basic English. But she would often ask me to explain letters from school to her, or things about benefits. She could work out what the words said, but couldn't make them actually mean anything.

eggandonion · 08/09/2020 09:16

That sounds like some form of dyslexia rather than not being able to read because she wasn't taught? Tim learned to read, even though brian and Ken didn't teach him, and now reads the Gazette.
Yes cathy had a house a bit like the one Devs wife lived in with her new squeeze, and like Audrey's. Imran could buy a leafy street house and Adam. And Dr Ali, there must be a place for him, even if it is with his probation officer.
