Ah Sascha come on!

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 11/09/2020 22:49

Come on PCB!
Having said that, I'm too tired to watch now.

PrivateSpidey · 11/09/2020 23:13

Its not exactly a riveting match is it? Confused

I'll probably nod off before the end...

MajesticWhine · 11/09/2020 23:33

I'm ready to drop off to sleep. But it's just starting to look interesting.

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2020 00:06

Not being able to watch I have no idea what's going to happen here!

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 12/09/2020 00:10

Majestic true! Just as I typed that earlier post, Zverev started to come back into it.

The scoreline is definitely more interesting now, but the actual tennis isn't that exciting...

I didn't see what was up with PCB then when he had the MTO (have got the sound turned off)?

I think the momentum has got to be with Sascha now...

Fifth set tiebreak anyone?!

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2020 00:12

Not with that dodgy serve Private!

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 12/09/2020 00:14

PCB seems to be playing more attacking (if you know what I mean, I can't think how to phrase it) but Sascha has just broken in the first game. Depends on if he can hang on to his own serve...

I'm going to watch a bit more but I'm too tired really...

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2020 00:20

I had a little snooze earlier so I'll be score watching.

Good plan

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2020 00:41

Yes!! Well done Sascha! Why do something the easy way when you can do it the hard way?

Sorry Robbie.

Raahh · 12/09/2020 08:35

Well done to Sascha- can't help feeling a bit sorry for PCB.

I was awake, and score watching the Thiem/Medvedev match, from the start of the 3rd set. At one stage, Daniil was 4-1 up, then serving for the set at 5-3. Hard to tell, just from the scoreline, but obviously it all went pear shaped for him from that point.

Domi must be the favourite for the title now. He's had a slightly easier route to the final. Not a bad turnaround- from losing in the first round last year (and in Cincy) to being a finalist!

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2020 09:16

Damn I should have put money on those two being finalists! Well done Domi.

Does Serena EVER give her opponents who beat her ANY credit?

Correct me if I'm wrong. but shes all about the victim-herself.

has any commentater made comments about Azarenka ''just'' had a baby? or is it still all about Serena ''just'' given birth?

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2020 13:20

Well I liked this article which mentioned Vika had a baby for a change. Love the first comment as well Grin

No, they all start lying and fabricating and it's just not fair Grin
Raahh · 12/09/2020 17:34

Qui the commentators have been mentioning more of the 'mothers' this year (there were 9 in the draw at the start)- but it is almost as if it has come as a surprise to them that Serena is not the only one.

I really liked seeing Azarenka the other day, watching a match, whilst playing with her son Leo. I am really glad she has done so well these past few weeks.

Starksforthewin · 12/09/2020 17:35

QuiQuai

Absolutely not!

Serena only ever loses when a) she planned to lose, or b) her left thumbnail or right eyebrow or middle toe started hurting which meant she was severely compromised in her serve/backhand/forehand/ movement!

I don’t think she can get away any more with being so heavy (for weight of shot) that she is so easily passed on the court and can’t move to get to short balls or the angles.

Against Halep last summer at Wimbledon, it was as if someone had nailed her feet to the grass. Simona was passing her on every side.

Raahh · 12/09/2020 17:44

Starks I felt the same about the Halep match. It was like, if she didn't win on serve, that was it. She just didn't move between shots.

Raahh · 12/09/2020 17:47

And speaking of mothers Grin, Zvonareva (and Siegemund) has won the doubles.

JaneJeffer · 12/09/2020 18:49

Starks or when she is stoned needs medical attention

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 12/09/2020 18:53

Serena very rarely gives her opponent any credit for winning matches - she just says that she didn’t play well or some other excuse - I think it’s quite disrespectful to her opponents.

She also pretends that she doesn’t know who she’s playing next and acts surprised about her next opponent in press conferences etc - I’m glad she’s not in the final!
