Grin yes perhaps Muffins didn't check the stats before he posted?!

Raahh · 11/09/2020 09:54

Too busy thinking he was being clever.
Silly Muffins. Grin

Starksforthewin · 11/09/2020 09:55

Fizzy I think if she has won this US Open, no way would she have bothered with the French. She seems desperate to get this additional title.

kazzaD66 · 11/09/2020 10:05

So happy for Vika, let's hope she can win the title now!

Can we not call Kyrgios 'Muffins' anymore, please. I know he had an out of body experience during lockdown and was the voice of reason for a while, but muffins are lovely and he has now reverted to being a Dick again HmmGrin

JaneJeffer · 11/09/2020 10:10

But kazza it's an opposite nickname (see what I did there) like Twiggy on the Royle Famiy or Curly Watts on Corrie.

He’s going to be known as muffins from now on Grin

As soon as I type K my phone predicts that I’m going to type Kyrgios - I obviously talk about him too much Hmm

JaneJeffer · 11/09/2020 10:33

If I type k my phone predicts kazza Grin really!

I fell asleep during Osaka and Brady ‐ after Osaka won the tie-break I thought the contest would be over! Then I woke up and SW had just taken the first set 6-1. I was really surprised! I am pleased that Azarenka won though.

I think Osaka may struggle against a better returner than Brady, and Azarenka certainly is that.

I'm thinking back on SW career and I actually think she has always done better when the pressure of expectation is off. When she's the favourite she seems to get very negative. I'm even thinking back to 2003 (was it?) when she had the Slam and lost that semi at RG to Hénin. She just couldn't deal with the fact that somebody was actually beating her and she got very wound up by the crowd not being on her side and wasn't very gracious in defeat.

(I remember watching the match while I was supposed to be studying for my school exams Wink)

Then, after her injuries and everything, when she wasn't favourite any more, she seemed much more positive again.

I still think it's a shame that Hénin retired so early. I still remember that match against Clijsters at Wimbledon where she basically had a career-ending injury mid-match. She is an extremely good commentator (very perceptive and intelligent, and surprisingly funny!) but it is a pity that her English isn't really good enough for doing it on English-speaking channels. She has spoken about being open for coaching once her kids are a little older and I can imagine that any player would be quite lucky to get her, as she's very tactical.

kazzaD66 · 11/09/2020 12:38

Jane Grin sorry about that!

It's the same when I start to type 'the delectable. ....' the next word automatically comes up as 'Stefan' Wink

Raahh · 11/09/2020 12:43

kazza Grin

Jourdain I'd love to see Henin as a coach. I'm trying to think of who would be a good player for her among the current players - loads of options. I'm sure she would be in high demand, I agree.

Jane the comments Grin

Raahh · 11/09/2020 21:15

I am going to try and stay awake to watch the Sascha/PCB match.

I'm not hopeful Grin.

I don't really mind who wins this, although I suppose Sascha is the the one who has been touted as a next Slam winner. PCB is older, Sascha has time on is side.

'No negative fave' Catherine is reminiscing about last year's Laver Cup. Grin

Raahh · 11/09/2020 21:22

Thiem is watching.

But what is the point of wearing a mask under your nose?Grin

PrivateSpidey · 11/09/2020 21:24

Yes Grin "not one negative face"

That was a great moment Grin

Raahh · 11/09/2020 21:27

I did enjoy that. I have reservations about the Laver Cup (it feels like a Fed vanity project), but I did enjoy watching last year.

kazzaD66 · 11/09/2020 21:46

The off court coaching ministrations of Rafa and Rog were often more interesting than the tennis....Grin

PrivateSpidey · 11/09/2020 21:53

Grin yep!

I just went upstairs to get a jumper (it's turned freezing here Hmm) and when I came back it was suddenly 5-2 PCB! Shock

PrivateSpidey · 11/09/2020 22:16

Hmm, double break for PCB...

Fizzywinegum · 11/09/2020 22:23

I’ve just switched on - is PCB playing really well or is Sascha being rubbish?

Mama1980 · 11/09/2020 22:25

Evening all,
Wow, was not expecting that score when I switching on, Is PCB playing well here or has Sasha just not shown up again?
I

kazzaD66 · 11/09/2020 22:27

I've been score watching and according to the BBC, PCB is playing well but Sascha is really struggling on serve. The yips are back apparently.

PrivateSpidey · 11/09/2020 22:29

Well so far it's not exactly the best match I've ever seen Fizzy I must say.

Greg said earlier that up to now, PCB has been able to play with no pressure, but now he's in the lead in this match, the pressure is on him more...

MajesticWhine · 11/09/2020 22:42

Only just switched on. DH was watching some bollocks.
